Something was definitely wrong. I knew that as soon as I had stepped foot onto hunting grounds this weekend.

Usually by the time I get this far, I know I get to satisfy the monster in me. So by now, I have an excess flow of venom pouring inside my mouth and a burning throat. But now there was at least half of what there usually is. I had a good amount of venom, but in comparison to previous trips, this was nothing. My throat felt like the aftermath of satisfying my thirst.

Before I had met Bella I only needed three or four doses and that would keep me satisfied for a few weeks. But since I met that number has gone to five or six instead. Which only kept me full for about two weeks at tops when I'm around her. Though oddly I felt full enough. Like I had already drank four animals worth of blood when I hadn't been hunting for four weeks.

I made a mental note to check if anything was different in my appearance. As soon as we were done here I was going to go ask Carlisle if anything seemed different to him. Then ask Alice if anything was coming up for me in the near future.

I was just about finished devouring my first meal of the weekend when I heard Alice screaming my name. Screaming? Why didn't she just say my name like she usually did and everyone else usually did?

She came running at me in a panic.

"Oh Edward. Don't scare me like that. Okay?" She was breathing hard, for a vampire.

"Alice. What are you talking about?" Did she see anything? What did she see? Did something happen to Bella?

"Why didn't you answer me? I have been yelling your name for at least fifteen minutes. Finally I just screamed your name."

"Alice, I couldn't hear you. How far away were you?" I asked, concerned for myself.

"Only half a mile Edward. What's wrong with you?"

"I don't know. But as soon as we are done here I'm going to Carlisle for answers." She finally stood quiet for a moment.

"Edward...wait....talk....now." My hands flew to my head as I bent over onto the ground. I'm sure it wasn't possible. "Gifts" don't fade do they? No, they only get stronger with time, they don't fade. Do they?

"Oh no, Edward. Something isn't right. You didn't hear my thoughts, did you?" She questioned. Already ready almost full I got up and ran. I ran until I saw a fox and drank until my stomach was in a knot and my throat was just about closed.

I knew Carlisle wouldn't be done yet, but I needed answers and I needed them now.

"Carlisle!" I yelled. I fell to my knees and in less then a minute later, he was kneeling next to me on the ground.

"What happened?"

"Get comfortable. This may take awhile."

"Take your time."

"Carlisle, there's a situation...."

I told him everything that had seemed different since we had gotten here.

"Carlisle something isn't right." I concluded.

"Indeed. I've only had three animals worth so I'm going to need at least one more. When I'm done I'll meet back at your car. I'll have some type on explanation by then. Will you be okay by yourself for a half an hour?" He asked.

"I should. I may just roam around and then be back at the car. Bye." I got up and ran again. I don't know where I was running to but at this point I didn't care, I just ran. By the time I got back to my Volvo I decided to sit in the passenger seat.

Carlisle wasn't there yet, of course. I didn't hear him come into the car, I only heard him start it.

" Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to drop you off at home, where Bella is. I want you to take her somewhere special. Somewhere that the two of you have memories together. Since your only now starting to notice differences then maybe, well, probably, you'll notice even more differences when you are around Bella again. While your doing all this, I'm going to make a few quick phone calls to Denali and then to Volterra. If they don't have any answers then I guess we'll have to make our own assumptions on the matter." He knew something I didn't...And I couldn't hear his thoughts.

"What do you mean 'we'll make our own assumptions on the matter' ?" I asked, starting to feel more like a experiment then anything else.

"I mean the if the Volterra or the Denali both have no clue what's going on then, well, something is evolving in our world and right now it's too soon to make anything final."

We rode in silence the rest of the way there
