It Wasn't Him In Biology

That's right. It never was Edward in her Biology class. Someone funnier, bigger, and certaintly louder.

Well, since this is another odd pair, it's one of my shorter first chapters. Only to see if you guys like it. You like it. I'll continue. This depends on my review count ya know..

2. Chapter 2

Rating 5/5   Word Count 2541   Review this Chapter

I think I might walk, it looks dry enough out today. I turned around and happened to glance at my clock. It's 7:05! school starts at 7:20! There is no way I am going to make it in time. I dressed in my old jeans and my favorite shirt. If I was going to make it to school it was going to be breakfast to go.

I poured Foot Loops into a bag and ran out the door. It took me a minute to realize there was another car in place of the cruiser. Car would be an understatement. That thing was a huge jeep. An expensive looking one too.

Before it really registered in my mind, he was next to me, staring at his jeep too.

"I saw that you had no way to or from school. Would you like a ride?" He asked.

"Yes. Please. Thank you. I'm running late."

"Well that wouldn't be a first." Emmett muttered under his breath.

He turned and went back to the drivers side. I went around to the passenger side, and just stared at the steps. There is no way I can get up here.

"Um, Emmett? I'm not freakishly huge, like some people. I can't get up here." I admitted.

"Geez, fine, hold on."

Next thing I knew, his arms were around my waist, lifting me into the jeep.

"Ugh, thanks. I do have a question though." He was already back in the drivers side, as if he never had to move.

"Shoot," He said.

"Uhm, why do you have such a huge jeep? I mean, it would be easier to find a big enough parking spot with a smaller car, wouldn't bring so much attention.." I rambled.

"Ha. Please. And miss an opportunity to own this? I think not,"

"Ok, so why do you have it?" I asked.

"I like it. Any more reason needed? It's big, fast, and good for off-roading experiences."

"Ah, I see. But why do you need to go fast in Forks? And where would you go off-roading in Forks?" Where could you go? Forks was only so big. Most it the town.

"Maybe some day you can come with me off-roading." He suggested.

"Maybe." I agreed. I smiled and stayed silent the rest of the way.

"Hey. Hello? Hey you!" Emmett was shaking me out of my thoughts. "What was that about? You were like, totally zoned out on me."

"Sorry, my bad. Wasn't paying attention." I mumbled.

"Hey. There you are. I thought you disappeared or something. Oh, hi Bella," A short and perky girl ran up to him smacking him in the arm. Her short, spiky hair never gave out while she ran. Probably that inhuman grace she ran with...

"Bella, my little sister Alice. Alice, well, obviously this is Bella," Emmett introduced us.

"Hi, Alice. Well thanks for the ride Emmett. I have to go now. I, ugh, promised Jessica I would help her with her Trig before school. Bye." I am so awful at lying, let alone lying in the spur of the moment. Geez, I wonder if they noticed.

"What do you think you are doing?! Don't try. Just don't." I heard Alice talking to Emmett in a harsh whisper. Likely intending for no one to hear.

I walked past the shelter where Mike, Jess, and Tyler, were talking. I walked past the front entrance and past the nurses office. I walked until I found a quiet spot and sat on the edge of the sidewalk.

Is Alice mad at Emmett for taking me to school? What shouldn't he try? Off-roading? I hope they didn't see me walk right past Jessica. Would he follow after me if I wasn't with her?

I pulled out my notebook and started on last night's homework that I never got the chance to finish.

"Is this seat taken?" I looked over to see a pale skinned-bronze haired boy smiling down at me.

"Oh. Sorry. You startled me. I didn't hear you coming," I smiled back.

"I get that a lot," He grinned like he was remembering some inside joke.

"What's you name? I don't think I've met you,"

"No, you haven't. I'm Edward Cullen. My brother Emmett gave you a ride to school this morning?"

"Hello. I'm Bella Swan. You're Emmett's brother?" I introduced myself.

"Yes. Do you mind if I sit here?" Edward asked.

"Oh. No. I don't."

"Why are you sitting over here by yourself?" He asked me.

"Just thinking. Getting away from all the noise over there," I explained and pointed to the front of the school where everyone was in between the school and the student parking lot.

Gee, did his whole family look this gorgeous?

"Makes sense. What are you thinking about?" He studied my face like he was studying a complicated math equation. It made me self-conscious.

I turned my head the opposite from where he sat and blushed. He still saw me and laughed.

"It's ok. You don't have to tell me. Just curious,"

"No, it's fine. I always do that," I said referring to my bad habit of blushing without any conscious effort. "I was thinking about your family," I admitted.

"What about us?" His face hardened just the slightest bit.

The bell chose to ring just then. Ironic. Saved By The Bell.

"Sorry, I have class to get to. I'll explain some other time. Bye." I left him sitting on the ground staring after me.

"Hurry, c'mon. He'll be back any second!" Angela whispered/yelled down the hall at me.

"He went to the restroom, if you don't get here soon you'll be late again."

"I'm coming," I shouted back down at her.

I slipped into the classroom and into my seat next to Emmett seconds before Mr.... got in the room. There were a few "woot's" and "nice one's" from random people.

"Nice save." Emmett whispered without looking at me. I nodded back.

We didn't talk today. It was a lot quieter.

"Dismissed" Mr... announced as usual.

I started gathering my things, when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up.

"So, you ready for this afternoon?" Emmett asked.

"That depends," I started cautiously. "Are we going off-roading?"

"Ha ha. No. I had something a little more...well, you'll see. Since you have no ride home, would it be ok if I offered you one?"

"Yes, you can, and I'll accept." We were now walking down the hallway toward the lunch room.

"Good." We kept walking and he turned and smiled at me. In this order, I smiled, blushed, and, of course, tripped.

"Ugh. Oh geez. Just leave me here." I mumbled to Emmett who was bent over picking up my things.

"No. Because then you would be trampled. And I wouldn't want you trampled. Here," He offered me his hand.

"Ugh. Next time don't do that." I ordered.

"Don't do what?" He asked still standing there with his hand out to me.

I took it and said, "Make a million butterflies float through my stomach. It makes it harder to concentrate on my feet and the whole walking process." I explained.

He just laughed.

"I'll see you after lunch. Later." He called over his shoulder as he got his food and made his way to sit with the rest of his family.

"So, Bella, I see you have been hanging around a certain Cullen lately." Jessica started.

"Yeah, Bella, spill," Tyler chimed in.

"Please?" Jess begged.

"If you would give me a chance to answer you guys I might tell you."

A chorus of sorry's were spread around the table.

"No problem. But give me a chance to breath. Emmett and I sit next to each other in Biology and, well we just sorta hit it off. He asked me to hang out after school today and I told him where I lived. This morning I wake up late, walk outside, and there he is in his huge jeep, waiting to take me to school. He is now giving me a ride home and is then going to pick me up again to hang out." I shrugged and took a bite of my pizza.

"Bella has a date! Bella has a date!" Eric cheered.

"Not with just anyone either. It's with a Cullen." Jessica added.

"And it's not any Cullen. It's Emmett Cullen." Angela added sheepishly.

"It is not a date. And besides, even if it was, what's the big deal with the new kid getting a date?"

"It's not the fact that you have a date, it's just the Cullen's don't date. They never have. You're the first one at this school to date a Cullen. That's the big deal. They haven't even shown interest in anyone. Except for Alice and Jasper, who were dating before the Doctor and The Mrs even had them. Congratulations. You will be the topic of gossip for a while." Mike winked after his explanation.

"Oh geez. I think it's time for me to head out. Don't follow me. I need fresh air, and to, well um, think."

"See ya in gym."

"Later Bella"

I walked across the cafeteria to the row of trash cans and left. They really haven't dated anyone? Or even shown a little bit of interest? It seemed to me that earlier today Edward was interested in me. What was that supposed to mean?

I went to that same spot I sat in this morning.

"Hi, Bella." Edward asked from the ground.

"Um, hi. What are you doing out here? What about lunch?" I asked.

"I, ugh, already ate." He laughed at his answer.

"..Ok. But why are you out here?"

"Like you said this morning, it is a good place to think. Away from everyone else. So are you excited for your date with Emmett?"

I sat down as I set my bag on the sidewalk. "Sure. You could say that it's a date. Though I disagree, I am curious as to what he has planned,"

"That makes two of us. I don't even know what he has planned. But knowing him, it could be anything," He grinned a wicked grin, evil and mysterious.

"Ok, that makes me want to know so much more," I joked. He laughed.

"So, you like Emmett don't you?"

"What? I don't know him all that well. I met him yesterday for Pete's sake. I'm not even sure why I agreed to go with him. For all I know he could be some evil creature who murders people." I suggested.

I thought I heard Edward mutter something like, "Pretty close to the truth" but it was too low and too fast for me to understand.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing. So, I hear he's pretty interested in you," He started. What is with people and using the word interested associated with the Cullens?

"Well, that may be true. You may have heard correctly," I said smugly.

"You don't need to get defensive. He doesn't date many girls so this is kinda different. And cool. It's nice to see him with someone,"

"We don't need to get all serious now. Let's switch to another topic."

"Ok, so this morning, you thinking about my family and the bell rang, you never got a chance to finish. What was it you were thinking about?"

"Well, I was just thinkin-" I ended up being cut short by the bell, again.

"Damn bell," Edward muttered.

I laughed.

"Guess I'll just have to tell you another time." I said as I stood up.

"Don't think I'll forget it either." He threatened, standing up too.

"Ha ha. Bye Edward."

Gym passed in a blur. And with no injuries today. To me or anyone else. I was too busy thinking about what Emmett had planned. How long will we be together? I should probably inform Charlie about me leaving..

"Hello. Are you ready? Emmett asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Well that's a surprise. I wasn't expecting you to come get me from class."

"Well, what did I tell you about someone being there to catch you when you fall?" He asked. I think I heard a double meaning behind his words.

"I only fell once today."

"One too many, might I add. Now, are you ready?"

He walked too fast. I almost had to jog to keep up.

"Hey man, why are you walking so fast. We have plenty of time." I said a little breathless.

"Ha ha. Sorry. I walk kinda fast." He shrugged it off but slowed down quite a bit.

"Kinda?" I asked.

"Ok, ok. I walk really fast." He grinned a wicked grin at me, and I couldn't help but smile and giggle a little in return.

"You guys don't mind me tagging a ride home with you, do you?" Edward asked, popping out of no where.

Emmett leaned against the hood of his jeep and sighed.

"Really Edward? You feel the need to ride with me now?" He asked, jacking a thumb in my direction.

"Sorry, Emmett. Me and Rosalie aren't on good terms right now."

"Ugh, fine. But Bella gets shotgun."

"That's fine with me."

Emmett turned toward me, already knowing that he would have to help me in, again.

"Thanks." I said a little shyly.

"Alright, as soon as we drop off Eddie at out place, I'll take you home to get ready and be back about 3:30-ish. Sound ok?" Emmett asked appearing in the driver's seat.

"Um, yeah. Sounds fine."

We drove into a densely wooded area. They don't live all the way out here, do they? Answering my question Emmett turned onto a small opening in the trees. It was a wonder this monstrous thing could fit through there. Before I knew it there was a large white house in front of us.

"Oh. Wow." I said. I was a little speechless.

"You like?" Edward asked me from the back seat.

"It's amazing. Yes I like it."

"Good." Emmett said smiling. "Now get out Edward."

"Fine fine. Have fun." Edward said, taunting Emmett like a 7 year singing Jack and Josie, sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G.

"Oh, I plan to." Emmett shot back.

We rode in almost silence. Besides the sound of the engine hum, and the 80's rock Emmett played, no other noise was made.

I must've zoned out again, because the next thing I knew was Emmett shaking me out of my thoughts and my house in front of us.

"Bella? You-who. Anybody home?"

"Yeah, yeah. I zoned out again. Sorry. I'll see you at 3:30 something. Bye Emmett." I got out, waved, and smiled at him as he pulled out of my driveway.
