Hide and Seek

The question that most people have the answer to. Who am I? It was the question I intended to answer. One I know I have to. You know how, as a kid, you had great memories about riding your bike to your grandma’s house, where you would get a batch of warm cookies? Hmmm? Lucky you. I don’t have any memories. Not since I was changed into a vampire. I can’t even remember my own name. So, like any other living...no, that’s not the right word....like any other thing, I am curious. My friend, a nomad I met in my hometown, Burlington, named me Andrea Joyce Chourre, her mother’s name. It stuck with me, however, I did add my own special flare, I’m Andy, not Andrea. I push my Corvette faster, the trees and snow of Vermont only a blur. I don’t know where I am going, and I don’t know where to stop, but I will soon. Even with a Corvette, sleek, aerodynamic as it is, I still need gas. At least I know one thing, Forks, Washington is a long ways away.

Hey everybody, it’s Willie Jean here. The main character of this story will be introduced with their power in the first chapter, in case anyone wants to know who the person is, but at least this way you can get some background info on the character. Remember, reviews are appreciated, good or bad, we don’t care. We would like constructive critism, anything to help us with our first story. Thanks for reading!!!

Everything was happening so fast, I didn’t know what to do.

First, another vampire walked through the door with a male at her side, and then the male was on top of me.

He sunk his razor sharp teeth into my neck, causing me to scream with pain.

I could feel my blood, so precious to Edward leave my system and into his mouth.

I saw Edward’s agonized eyes as he pulled the male off of me.

I couldn’t see anything, I couldn’t feel anything. Then the fire started to burn. I blacked out for the rest.

I remember waking up to Andy’s worried face. She was tense, as if waiting for my reaction.

I looked at her and she looked at me, eyes wide with concern. I wondered if I had screamed.

All I could remember was the fierce pain of the fire, nothing else.

I sat up slowly, my eyes squinted to see through the clarity of it all.

The bright light made it worse. Every leaf, I could see, every scrape of the wind, I could hear.

Nothing was processing.

I looked at Andy. She was beautifully clear. I could see every angular feature, every glossy hair. I could only imagine what Edward looked like.

I asked what was on my mind, “Why are you so clear?”

She spoke swiftly, and normally, I wouldn’t have heard it, but I did thins time.

“You’re changed Bella. You’re like Edward and I. A vampire.”

I couldn’t speak I was so happy. Was it true? That I was like Edward? That I would finally be able to keep up with him, not embarrass or worry him, and stack up against him. And, be...be as beautiful as he was. I spoke the sheer impossible,

“So I’m like Edward now?”

“Yes.” She sadly, for reasons I didn’t know.

Wasn’t she happy that I wouldn’t slow her down?

I looked at my hands, smiling at them I whispered,

“I’m a vampire.”

And that was when Edward chose to make his entrance.

He was snarling at Andy, whom was shocked at his presence.

“How could you, Andy?” He said, venom in his voice.

“She was going to die, Edward.” She pleaded.

“That is absolutely no reason to do it.”

“So you’d rather have her dead?” Andy spit the word.

“No.” Edward said softly, wagging his head. Andy was grimly triumphant.

“I’m not proud of what I did, but if Bella was to stay alive, this was the only way.”

He glared at Andy. “There is always another way, Andrea.”

“Not this time, Edward. You weren’t there, you didn’t see the damage that was done.” He was giving up, Andy’s resolve was much stronger than his.

He looked mentally and physically drained, but yet still so beautiful.

“Edward?” I asked, his eyes falling to mine for the first time.

“Bella?” He said, incredulous.

“Are you alright?”

He barked a laugh and then looked at me, as if a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders.

“Yes, Bella, I’m perfectly fine. I’m more worried about you. How do you feel?”

That was when my throat started to burn. It was like the ultimate dehydration. You’ve been in the desert three months without water, and its finally getting to you.

The burning was almost as bad as the transformation. My hands flew to my throat as I gasped for air.

Edward and Andy rushed over, but there was nothing they could do. Andy abruptly sat up and looked to Edward, who was just as tense.

A scent that satisfied the burning filled my nose. It was so luscious and beautiful, I couldn’t resist.

I ran to it, my nose and instincts guiding me.

Edward and Andy couldn’t keep up. My newborn strength left them in the dust, only calling my name, willing me with all their might to return my sanity.

It was too late.

I was on top of the human, sinking my teeth into their neck as a piercing scream filled the air.

The liquid that filled my throat was satisfying and beautiful. I choked with pleasure as I sucked more, draining the body of every last drop.

The screaming halted as the body shuddered, died at my hands.

I wiped my mouth as I stood up, the thirst only slightly quenched.

I recognized the body. A face I knew so well. A face I never liked, but never wished this death on her.

It was Lauren.
