La Tua Cantante

As usual, this will come in two parts: Edward's pov and Bella's, but the first is always Bella's. I got this idea from watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, when Angel got shot with a poisoned arrow and has to drink Buffy's blood to survive. This is pretty much mid-Eclipse and the Volturi infected Edward with a disease called "Distruzione" (Italian for "Destruction") which only affects vampires and he will die unless he drinks the blood of his la tua cantante, which is Bella. This is just more hardships for Edward and Bella to fight through, but as always, they fight it together and never give up.

There are some adult-themed situations, so unfortunately this fanfic will have to be rated Adult instead of Everyone. Sorry to my younger fans, but please, exercise caution when reading this fanfic. It will get extremely detailed.

"So..." I began, as we got into the house, "...were you lying about everyone coming home?"

"No." He shook his head, "They'll be here..."

"Bella!" Alice squealed, excitedly, from behind us.

"Now." Edward added under his breath.

I smiled at him and said, "Hey, Alice."

She gave me a huge hug, practically lifting me off my feet, and said, "Oh, thank God you're okay! You are okay, right?" She asked, releasing me.

"Never better," I answered honestly. It was impossible to feel better than I did at this moment.

"AND you have your new ring..." she took my hand and looked at it, "WHOA! Nice work, Edward. I'm blind."

"Thanks, Alice," Edward said, sarcastically.

"LOOK at this, Rose!" Alice shoved my hand towards Rosalie, forcing her to look.

Rosalie smiled slightly, "It's beautiful," but she kept her distance.

Emmett suddenly came in, elbowing Alice out of the way, and said, jokingly, "Worthless little hog anyway!"

Then, he turned to me, grabbing me in a huge bear hug, and spun me around even more excitedly than Edward had. "Bella! Yay, now you're going to be my little sister. Doesn't that sound so natural? I love it. Hey!" He set me down, "You need anything: come to me: the big brother. Big brother knows best, does he not?"

"No, he doesn't," Jasper said, jokingly.

"Shut it!" Emmett said, irritably, "Admit it, Bella; I'm already your favorite brother, aren't I?"

"Oh, my..." I chuckled, nervously, looking to Edward for help.

"Yes, Emmett," Edward said, sarcastically, "You are the lesser of two evils."

Emmett rolled his eyes and said, "That's fine. I know the truth. We'll keep it between us, Bella."

I smiled and then Jasper said, softly, "Congratulations, you two. I'm thrilled."

"Thank you," Edward said, but it didn't seem like that was what he was really thanking him for.

Esme gently pulled me into a hug and kissed my hair, "Oh, Bella, sweetie...I am so happy. Welcome to our family."

"Thank you," I said, smiling as she released me and took my face in her hands.

She shook her head, in disbelief, "You have made my Edward so happy, my dear...so happy. Thank you for that and for so much more."

Carlisle then approached me and said, with a smile, "Well, you certainly look better." He touched one of the wounds on my face and said, "Wound are healing nicely. I trust Edward took good care of you while were gone?"

Only the best. I struggled not to laugh as I looked to Edward to see his lips twitching slightly. "Mm-hm." I forced out. "Very, very good care."

"Good." Carlisle looked to Edward and said, "Well, unfortunately, I have to get to the hospital. I hate to leave at such a joyous time, but I'm afraid I'm needed."

"Yes, you are..." Esme said, softly. He turned to face her and she continued on, "Very much so."

He simply stared at her, his love for her clear in his admiring gaze. He kissed her softly on the lips before leaving.

Esme took my hands and said, "Can I fix you something to eat? I bought some new cookbooks. What would you like?"

Uh-oh. Edward and I had been so occupied that I had completely forgotten to eat anything at all.

Edward gasped, "Oh, no. Bella, I'm so sorry; I--are you okay?"
I put up a hand to stop him. "Yes, thank you, Esme."

She looked absolutely delighted at my willingness and said, "What would you like?"

"Surprise me," I said, shrugging. Right now, I would happily eat anything.

She scurried off and Rosalie said, kind of nervously, "I'll, um, help her out," before following her out into the kitchen to begin preparing my meal.

"Hurry, Esme," Edward called, leading me over to the couch, in concern, "Hold on, Bella. I am so sorry, love." He began caressing my face, "We'll get you something."

"What's going on?" Alice asked, worriedly.

"NOTHING." I said, irritably, "I'm fine. I can wait. Please stop being so overdramatic."

"Overdramatic; Bella, you haven't eaten anything in four days!" Edward said, firmly.

"Bella!" Alice squealed, "Why didn't you eat?!"

"I kinda...forgot." I said, sheepishly. Damn it, when would I learn how to lie properly?

"You forgot?!" Emmett said, incredulously, "How the hell do you--"

"Emmett, shut up!" Alice said, finally understanding, shifting uncomfortably.

Emmett snorted, "Oh!"

"Leave it alone, Emmett," Edward said, firmly, growling softly.

"I didn't say anything."

Edward ignored him, "Don't worry, Bella, we'll get you something; you'll be okay."

I rolled my eyes, irritably, "I feel fine. Relax, will you?"

"You do?" Emmett said, excitedly.

"Yes." I responded, irritably, hating all this stupid unneccessary attention.

"Good; I have a challenge for you."

"No, Emmett!" Edward said, crossly.

"This doesn't concern you!" Emmett said, not minding Edward.

"What?" I asked.

Emmett pulled a Monster can from behind him and held it up to me.

"Ew," I cringed as the smell of blood finally reached me, "Are you kidding me; that's disgusting!"

"Come on, please! I just wanna see if you can do it. I'll do anything; just do this one thing for me."

"Not. Now. Emmett." Edward protested, through clenched teeth.

Realization dawned on me and I said, "Oh, I get it. You guys have a bet going." Edward shifted uncomfortably and looked away from me sheepishly. "You don't think I can do it, do you?" I asked, sensing his reluctance.

"Well!" He gestured to me, "With how much you hate blood, I'm surprised you haven't collapsed yet."

I stood up and said, "Okay, I'll do it. Now." Then, I turned to Emmett to name my terms, "If you drink one of my drinks."

"Ooh, that's interesting!" Alice said, practically bouncing on her feet.

"Oh, that's pretty good, dude," Jasper said, to Emmett, "I think I'm changing my bet. My money's on Bella."

"The bet is off!" Edward said, irritably, "I already said it's not happening."

"Alice?" Emmett asked, not looking away from me.

"It's happening." She said.

"No!" Edward yelled, as I said, "Still think I'm a wuss? Watch this!"

I held my breath as I snatched the can from Emmett and forced myself to take a sip, using all my strength to ignore its bitter, horrible taste and the sensation in my stomach.

Suddenly, Emmett began shouting encouragement to me: "Chug it! Chug it! Chug it!"

I heard someone smack him, followed by Edward's voice: "Shut up, Emmett!"

That gave me a sudden tolerance and I shuddered as I tipped the can back, chugging it to please Emmett, draining it of every last drop.

I closed my eyes tightly, grimaced, and swallowed, ignoring the terrible aftertaste of copper, salt, rust, and God knows what else, mixed in together in my mouth, dropping the can and groaning, "Ugh, God...oh, I think I'm gonna be sick!"

I staggered slightly and collapsed onto the couch, doubling over to ease the queasiness in my stomach.

"Damn it, Emmett!" Edward said, angrily, approaching me, and kneeling down beside me to make sure I was okay. He began rubbing my back and sighed, impatiently, "Bella, you didn't have to prove anything to anyone."

I groaned, still disgusted in revulsion. I shuddered repeatedly and Edward said, "Go get her some water!"

"Wow, Bella, that was amazing!" Emmett said, "I can't believe you did it. That was great. Damn, I should've taped it."

I started coughing and began heaving, as if throwing up, but nothing came back up.

Edward lightly thumped my back and tightened his hold on me.

Luckily, Jasper used his ability to ease my pain, and I felt a little better.

Suddenly, Edward handed me a glass of water. I chugged it and shuddered again, "Oh, God...disgusting! More..."

He handed me another glass, which I drained just as eagerly. How could anyone live off this stuff? Vampire or not, I doubted I could ever handle it.

Three glasses of water later and the taste subsided somewhat--at least enought to where I didn't want to die.

"Are you okay, Bella?" Emmett asked, clearly trying not to laugh, to which Edward cast an angry glare.

I nodded and said, "Just give me a minute." Once I recovered, I gronaed, "Ugh, how do you people live off this stuff? It's terrible!"

"Nah, not so much," Emmett said, "You see, blood is to us what chocolate is to humans."

"Yeah, quite frankly, I actually prefer the chocolate." I said, standing up, using Edward for support.

At that moment, Rosalie walked in and coughed awkwardly. We all looked at her and she forced herself to look at me: "Bella, your...yeah, stuff is ready. If you can call it that; the smell is extremely disturbing."

I sniffed in deeply and smelled spaghetti, garlic bread, and brownies. It smelled so amazing...God, I was dying having to wait any longer.

I smiled, "It'll do. Thanks, Rose." Then, it occurred to me that she never said I could call her that. I gasped, "Oh, is that okay? Can I call you that? You never said I could; I just--"

"It's fine!" Edward said, before she could answer.

She smiled slightly, "Go ahead. Not a problem."

I smiled as warmly as I could and Edward took my hand to lead me into the kitchen.
