Chapter 3: Shopping!

Rosalie sighed and shoved another bikini on the rack. “What is up with this place! I mean, none of these are designer brands! And I don’t see one Abercrombie & Fitch or American Eagle! Something somewhat interesting other than a department store.”

“Um, Rose, I don’t think they have American Eagle in Hawaii.” Alice said, studying a yellow one-piece with hole in each side.

“Yeah they do! It’s across the street, only in Hawaiian!” Bella announced, pointing out the window.

“Isn’t Hawaiian English?” I asked, looking up from the ceiling.

“Aloha, duh!” Rosalie said, looking at a pair of sunglasses in disgust.

“Jasper, you can go walk around or something. We’re fine here.” Alice said, picking up several swimsuits from the rack, trying to spare me from Hawaiian store names.

I shook my head. “Edward told me to.”

“I don’t see anything, Jasper.”

“Edward still said. He’ll get Emmett if I leave Bella again.”

“Then why didn’t he come?”

“Preparing the boat or something.”

“Why can’t you do that?” Rosalie asked.

I smirked. “I’m not aloud to tell.”

Alice eyed me, then went into her ‘I’m seeing the future’ mode. She opened her eyes and smiled. “Ohhhhh!”

“What?” Bella asked and I sensed her worry.

“I’m not going to tell you.” Alice said, grinning.

“I won’t let you make me a Barbie!”

“Oh, you will.”

Bella sighed in frustration. I can’t blame her. Alice is wonderful and all that, but I hate being a Ken Doll just as much as Bella.

Alice started ushering Rosalie and Bella into the dressing rooms and I went back to staring at the ceiling, asking the Lord what I did wrong to deserve this.

Alice shoved another swimsuit under the dressing room door. This one was a pink halter bikini. I already hated it.

After almost getting strangled by the strings and staring in shame at my average-ness, I opened the door to show Alice.

“Um….” She said, internally debating.

“You know what, I think I’ll just get this one.” I said, grabbing the last swimsuit I tried on.

“I wouldn’t wear that if I were you.” she warned me.

I looked at it. I didn’t see anything wrong with it. It was a green bikini with yellow flowers in every space provided.

“Why?” I asked.

“You see, last time we went to the lake, Rose wore something like that and”- she laughed- “she kinda got-”

“Shut up, Alice!” Rosalie yelled from the room next to us. I heard Jasper snicker from the hallway.

“It’s not funny!”

“What happened?” I asked Alice in a low voice.

“I can STILL hear you, Bella!” Rosalie threatened.

Alice laughed and said, “She kind of got chased by a herd of butterflies.”

“Butterflies come in herds?”

“This one did.”

“Whoa, Scotland has evil flying insects.”

“Don’t they also have leprechauns?”

“That’s Ireland.”

“No wonder Charlie was confused.”

“Here.” she said, changing the subject, “Try this one on. We’ve got to get packed and go by tomorrow!”

I grabbed the red two-piece and tugged it on and opened the door, not stopping to gawk at my average-ness.

“Nope. Here.” Alice said, handing me another swimsuit.

“Ugh!” I groaned, but turned around and locked the door with the bathing suit in hand.

Unfortunately, I had a little trouble taking it off, so Alice, Rosalie, Jasper, and the store manager had to help de-tangle me from the many strings and beads. I was completely humiliated. I decided that swimsuit shopping was the worst thing ever invented on the planet.
