Chapter 6: Emmett Plays With Buttons

The control room was a glass room on the back of the forth floor, which turned out to be a big open-deck area with white tables, a white bar, and a big white water slide. I guess they’re really in to white.

“Where’s Carlisle?” I asked, looking out for the yacht.

“That’s why we’re checking this. I think Emmett may have moved the boat off course and now we might have been traveling the opposite direction from Carlisle. I wonder why he didn’t notice…”

I nodded, then noticed that Emmett was silent beside me. I looked over and realized he was gone.

HONK! The boat roared.

“EMMETT!” Edward yelled. I looked over to see Emmett in the glass room, honking the horn and pressing the buttons. He saw me staring and waved with a stupid grin on his face.

Edward strode over to the box with me running to keep up with him.

When we reached the control room, Emmett was looking at a huge red button that said: Do Not Press, That means YOU, Emmett!!!!!!

“Hey, I wonder what this does,” He said, reaching to press the button.

“NO, EMMETT!!!” Edward scream, lunging forward.

He was to late. Emmett pressed the button hard, and a large siren wailed. A huge missile came out from the secret compartment under the floor.

“Five, four, three, two, one.” a female voice said calmly over an intercom. The missile shot off from the boat, exploding on land a few hundred miles out leaving a red mushroom cloud.

“Awesome.” Emmett gazed in admiration. “I wonder what this one does!” He said with renewed energy.

“No, Emmett!” Edward scream, pushing him out of the path of destruction.

“Come on, Edward, that was REALLY cool!”

“Yeah, and I think you just took a chunk out of Africa!”

“They didn’t need the land.”

“That’s not the point! Did you SEE what the button read?”

“Um,” Emmett said, looking at the sticker on the red button, “‘Do no press, that means you, Emmett’?”

“Yes, and that means…”

“That I shouldn’t press it?”

“And what did you do?”

“I pressed it.”

“What do you say?”

“Sorry, Edward, for blowing a chunk out of Africa.”

“You’re forgiven.”

“What country do you think we blew a chunk out of?” Emmett asked excitedly.

“I don’t know. I don’t even know where we are!” Edward realized, jumping to the control panel. “I’m going to drive towards land. Emmett, tell the girls that we’re lost!”

“What about Jasper?”

“Isn’t he a girl, too?”

“Oh, yeah!” Emmett said, then ran downstairs screaming ‘WE’RE LOST! WE’RE LOST! WE’RE LOST!’

“What do we do now, Edward?” I asked him.

“We wait.”
