Emily's POV

“Okay. Well I’m pretty sure this is clear but my name is Emily Robin. Truthfully, now this may come as a shock to you, but I’m the first daughter of Eve.”

Each of the Cullens blinked once.

Then they burst out laughing.

“Ya right!”

“Try going with something more believable next time!”

“Sure, sure!”

“Then you would be the first vampire in the world.”

I raised my eyebrows when that last one came out.

That one word brought on a whole new round of laughter.

Then I closed my eyes.

Bella’s POV

Suddenly my mouth snapped shut.

I couldn’t open it.

I looked around panicked.

Then I realized it.

The room was silent.

Too silent.

I looked at Emily.

She was the only one who could speak.

Emily looked very pleased.

Then she opened her eyes.

As if on cue, I could open my mouth.

Very weird.

“Thank you Bella. It was my pleasure.” Emily’s voice was smug.

As if she caused it.

“I did.” Emily was answering my thoughts!

“Yes, cool isn’t it?”

Rosalie looked freaked out.

“I thought Edward was the only one who could do that!” she said.

“He is.” Emily said looking at her fingernails.

It is a hard thing to do, get a vampire to stutter and be confused.

Congratulations Emily, you can do it single-handedly.

“Thank you Bella.”

No, correction.

She could do it with no hands.

“Listen, Emily… You said you are the first vampire on Earth?” Carlisle asked.

“Can we ask how?”

Emily smiled.

“Let’s just say… I was the first vampire on Earth. Earth being the key word.” She whispered.

I looked at her confused.

“I’m not quite sure how it happened… It was the day of my 17th birthday… I was lying by my favorite tree, watching the clouds. Then I felt a sharp pain at my neck. That was very painful. I of course screamed. My mother, Eve, came running. She saw me lying there screaming bloody murder… She kept whispering ‘Alien vampire… Alien vampire bit my daughter…’ I know how that sounds… an alien vampire, how unrealistic is that?” Emily let out a cold laugh. “Who are we to judge? Are we not monsters from story books? The thing that keeps little kids up at night scared? Are we not the frame of a horror movie? Are we not unrealistic ourselves?”

Emily’s words hit home.

I nodded.

I felt strangely connected to her words…

Edward looked at me.

“I bit my… my… my… my best friend…” Emily fell to the ground dry sobbing.

I know how unrealistic this may seem, a vampire falling to the ground.

Well, clearly Emily is certainly not normal.

Suddenly, for no apparent reason at all, I’d Lie by Taylor Swift popped into my head.

“And I could tell you his favorite colors green, he likes to argue, born on the seventeenth, his sisters beautiful , he has his father’s eyes, and if you asked me if I loved him I’d lie”

Then I connected the links.

If you asked me if I loved him I’d lie.

That’s it!

Emily loves her best friend who she bit!

I jumped around in circles, looking remarkably similar to Alice at the time.

“I taught you well Bella…” I heard Alice whisper.

Emily looked up at me, pained.

“You find this funny? Or fun?” her voice was filled with grief.

“So where is he?” I asked.

Emily froze.

Then she growled at me.

“You… You… You… ARGH!” Emily looked just plain furious.

Then she broke down.

You could hear the sobs a million miles away, even if you were human.

“You don’t understand… You don’t understand…” Emily repeated over and over.

Carlisle looked extremely worried…

Esme took control.

“Look, dear, can you please explain?” she asked.

Emily looked up, and then hugged Esme.

“Thank you.”

“You see… My best friend, John, was there that day. He was the first son of Adam. He was a little bit younger than me, about fourteen. After my mom ran from me… Which was very hard to see, by the way… John found me… He wasn’t scared of me, even though I was. I warned him, but he came too close. Next thing I knew my teeth was in his neck.” Emily shuddered “I couldn’t control my blood lust. I drank all of his blood. Due to the fact I was petrified by what I did… I killed my best friend… So I became vegetarian. Hate to break it to you Carlisle, you weren’t the first vegetarian.” She let out a slight chuckle at this.

“Its fine, Emily.” Carlisle laughed.

A knock came from the door.

Emily seemed frozen.

“Huh? No. Way.” Was all that came from her mouth.

“I didn’t even know that he existed…” she whispered.
