I made sure to take several shortcuts, making sure to lose Emmett along the way, still not ready to deal with his sarcasm yet. I could hear him going in the wrong direction, and decided to surprise him from behind.

All the exhilaration and freedom I felt when running returned, stronger than ever before. As my legs carried me through the trees of the forest with no troubles, carrying me at such an incredible rate, I felt so peaceful. It felt as if I was running faster than I ever had before. It was amazing--liberating. The feel of the wind against my face and practically flying through the forest was so...freeing.

I caught up to Emmett in no time, gaining on him easily, considering he was now slowing down, confused. 'EDWARD!' He called, in his head, searching for me. 'MARCO!'

I slammed into him from behind, tackling him to the ground. I pinned him down and said, smugly, "Polo."

"Get off!" He said, irritably, throwing me off him.

I crashed into a tree, causing it to collapse. I felt no pain, but the tree was definitely ruined.

"Oops!" Emmett ran over to me and helped me up. "Sorry, dude. You okay?"

"Fine." I said, getting up with no problem.

"Please don't tell Carlisle I killed another tree--he'll kill me."

"No, he won't." I said, kind of hoping that he would.

"No, but he'll lecture me. If he doesn't kill me, his lecture will. It'll make me lose the will to live. Seriously...I'll die; I'll just stop living."

"And that's a bad thing?" I said, with a smirk.

He rolled his eyes so I punched his shoulder, "Don't be so dramatic."

"You wanna talk dramatic; oh, please. You're one to talk." 'Won't even give me any details.' He shook his head, in disbelief, 'Come on, stud. A century without getting some--I think you've got some bragging rights.'

"My God, Emmett, is that all you think about?" I asked, knowing the answer already.

"Actually? Bye!" He spotted an elk and took off for it, using an excuse to avoid the question.

I scoffed and took off for the rest of the herd, lunging for the first one I saw, sinking my teeth in and drinking deeply while the others took off running.

The elk let out a cry of pain and then fell limp in my arms almost immediately as I drained it of every ounce of blood I could get.

"Oh, no, you don't!" Emmett yelled, chasing down his elk, "Oh, yeah? Well, I can play too."

I looked up from the elk I had just killed to see Emmett struggling with his own, enjoying torturing the creature first before actually feeding. He grabbed its legs in both of his hands and smacked it on the ground repeatedly.

"EMMETT! Knock it off!" I yelled, but he was too in to the kill to hear me.

"Yeah, you like that? You know what?! No, you suck!" The creature managed to free itself for only a second, limping away, as Emmett said, "Aw, damn it!"

He lunged for it and the creature froze in fear as Emmett began drinking him. He was so immature about it all. Carlisle had told him countless times to just feed--never torture the animal, but he never listened.

"Damn, it's empty!" He yelled, irritably, standing up. He turned to look at me and smiled, the blood showing in between his teeth.

I smirked, "Uh, Emmett, you got a little something--" I pointed to my teeth to show him and he cleaned his teeth with his tongue before shrugging and smiling.

"I think we scared off the rest of the herd." Emmett said, looking off in the direction they ran.

"You think?" I said, in an obvious tone, "You wanna go after them?"

He grimaced, "Nah. I'd rather wait for a grizzly. I'm in the mood for something good right now."

"Aw, did you get a bad one?" I asked, teasingly, "Mine was pretty good."

He shrugged, "Eh--it was all right. But, I deserve some indulgence."

I flinched, in shame, "Yes, well, I've had enough indulgence already. No more."

Emmett sighed, "Edward, don't. It was the only way to save you."

"Well, maybe I wasn't meant to be saved. Did you ever think of that?" I said, bitterly.

"We had to save you...whether we were meant to or not. None of us could go on without you."

"Rose wouldn't have minded." I said, already seeing her reaction in Emmett's head when she found out what had happened:

'Well, who's fault is that? He's the dumb-ass that resorted to the Volturi in order to kill himself. He's getting his wish. He has no one to blame but himself. He's the one who started this whole mess to begin with by falling in love with a damn human. Idiot!'

Hey. For once, Rosalie and I agreed on something...this was all my fault. If I had only left Bella alone from the beginning, then none of this would have happened. I wouldn't have been so happy...

Emmett sighed and looked at me apologetically, "Of course she would have. Because, I would've been miserable without you. And, my misery brings her misery. We need you, bro. How could we live without you?"
I smiled, "Thanks," and then chuckled, "That is so Rose, though. Blaming it all on me. I have to say...I actually agree with her somewhat on this. Frame this moment; it'll never happen again. Although, the Volturi was partly her fault. Hell, it was all her fault. If she hadn't've told me Bella was dead without getting her facts straight, I never would've gone."

Emmett approached me and placed his hand on my shoulder. "Look, Edward, I will never condone what Rosalie did. That was incredibly selfish and reckless of her to put you in that situation. I was so angry with her when I found out. God, I was so angry. But, she had no idea what would happen. She never wanted anyone to get hurt. Don't tell I said this, but she told me that she guards her thoughts around you. She never lets you know her true thoughts about Bella."

"Why; do they revolve around hurting her?"

"No." Emmett shook his head, "Rosalie cares about you. She would never admit it, but I know she does. And, I know how terrible she felt about you and Bella. She may have said those things, but...I doubt sincerely feels that way."

"I wouldn't bet on it."

"I would. You don't know Rose like I do, Edward."

"Yeah...thank God." I said, shuddering slightly at the thought.

"Aw, speaking of which," he sat on the ground, leaning against the elk he had just killed, lounging, "You still owe me details."

"Excuse me?!" I said, irritably.

"Oh, come on. I know the who and I know the what. Just give me the how, when where, what position...how many times..."

"Emmett!"

He burst out laughing. He was such a pig.

"I am not giving you details."

"Please! Come on; I'll do anything."

"NO!"

He shifted his weight and smacked his lips in irritation, "Okay, I'll make you a deal."

"I don't do deals that involve my sex life." I told him, firmly.

'Hah!' He snorted, in his head, "Yeah, that's cause before now you didn't have a sex life."

I smacked his head and he said, "I'm sorry; I couldn't help it. It was so good."

"You know what, Emmett, Carlisle forgave me for the other murders I committed and I promised I wouldn't do it again, but what the hell, what's one more?"

I made to hit him, but he grabbed my fist and said, "Hi. Okay...no. Just hear me out. I think you'll be interested."

"Try me." I said, irritably.

He climbed to his feet and said, "Okay...I bet that Bella could drink blood from a Monster can...any animal, your choice...and the terms are...I win, you tell me everything I want to know, no complaints. But, you win, and I'll give you 50."

I rolled my eyes, "Bella would never drink blood; she hates it."

"Then, I guess you've got nothing to lose, do you?" He said, tauntingly.

I sighed irritably. That was true. Bella couldn't even stomach the sight and smell of blood--the concept of her actually tasting it and holding it down was quite laughable. Besides, I did love making a fool out of Emmett--not that that was hard to do.

"Emmett, tell me something...what is the boiling point of brain?"

He considered it, "I used to know this."

"You used to--" I broke off, burying my face in my hands and shaking my head.

He would never give up. Right now, his thoughts were only about me and Bella having sex. He was like a damn AM radio that someone shoved in my head and I couldn't turn off.

"Fine!" I said, eager to make his profanity stop, "You're on."

We shook, on it and then we both recognized the familiar scent of a Grizzly bear, as it lurked about unsuspectingly through the trees, looking for its prey.

Emmett froze up and sniffed in deeply, closing his eyes, "Oh, my dear sweet Lord." He looked off in its direction and said, "Oh, my Grizzly!"

He ran off for it, just as eager for the kill as for the blood itself.

I heard a crash as Emmett threw the bear into a tree and said, triumphantly, "YEAH! You've met your match! Huh? What's that? Why, you little--"

Emmett pinned it to the ground and held it down. "Not so fun now, is it? Hah! You know what? Why. Don't. You. Bite it?!"

Then, he sank his teeth into the bear, his whole world dedicated to that bear. In that moment, his thrist, his desires, his reason to live, his whole existence relied on that bear. To him, it wasn't just a hunt to feed situation; it was hunt to triumph. Hunt to win. He had once been this creature's prey...so now he revelled in the kill--revelled in his ability to win the fight without competition.

I simply leaned against a tree, folding my arms across my chest, and waited patiently as Emmett chased after every creature that crossed his path.

He eventually came back to the clearing, killing anything that came near it one by one, enjoying each one more and more, taking pride in the great power he exerted over the helpless creatures.

"Aha!" He sank his teeth into one more deer, draining it of all its blood, and made to lunge for another one, when I called, "EMMETT!"

He turned and the deer ran even faster. Emmett stared after it, before saying, "Damn it! You let it get away! Did I hurt you in some way? What'd I ever do to you?"

I shrugged, with a smirk, "Nothing. But, I don't think Carlisle would be too happy with how many animals you have killed today. We don't do sprees like this--it creates inevitable suspicion. We can't afford to get caught up in an investigation like this."

"You wanna talk creating suspicion? Who's the one that screwed up and let us get caught?"

"That's different." I said, firmly.

"How?"

"For starters, I didn't do it on purpose...besides, I don't think everyone will be as understanding as Bella was."

"You think." Emmett said, irritably, bitter that I let the deer escape. He scoffed, 'Why aren't you feeding anway?'

"I'm still full from--" I coughed awkwardly, unable to even say the words out loud.

"Riiight!" Emmett said, suggestively, "But--if you think about it objectively...the more you feed now, the more sex you can have with Bella once we get back without having to worry."

Memories of last night filled my mind:

Our bodies moving together with perfect, harmonious rhythm, our legs entwining with one another's beneath the sheets, which were tangled, but wrapped around us nonethless. Her hands traced every contour of my back, every inch of my skin, memorizing the feel of my muscles flexing and contracting against them. She dragged her nails passionately down my back and arched her back to be even closer to me. I caressed her parted lips with the bridge of my nose, which she kissed softly, before I trailed it to her cheek and caressed her chin and bottom lip with my thumb. "I love you," I whispered, breathlessly, transferring my lips to her neck and frenching it passionately, holding her even closer to me. I could feel her mouth fall open in ecstasy and she sighed as I moaned out of delight into her neck, tasting every inch of her I could, feeling complete as I held her in my arms. She was so perfect that it seemed as if even the literal consummation was no where near consummation enough.

I snapped out of it and raised my eyebrows. Emmett did make a good point. I only had a little less than two weeks with her. I needed to take advantage of our time alone together and make the most of it.

Besides, after a century of holding back, bottling my emotions up, I deserved some indulgence in at least the sexual terms of my life. God, the mere thought of being with her for the entire two weeks without any obstacles was so overwhelming. So beautiful.

I shifted my weight and grimaced, hoping Emmett didn't catch the reason for it. I began trembling involuntarily and made to push myself off the tree with my back when the tree collapsed.

Emmett smirked, "I rest my case. Come on, Edward; you know l like teasing you, but you deserve some indulgence. You need to have some fun; you've waited long enough."

I was no longer listening to him. I was too caught up in my surroundings, searching for my next prey.

Emmett had cleared out this area of anything half way decent, so I had to stretch my senses even further, and concentrate even harder.

I caught the scent of another herd of deer, but I was kind of tired of that right now. I wasn't in the mood for any more deer or elk. I caught a bear cub--most likely, the baby of the Grizzly bear Emmett had killed--and...mountain lions. More than one.

Yes! This must be my lucky day!
