"I had no idea that Ricktor could clone himself. It seems that after I checked his records on the way back here, he had a twin brother. Because if this, they were able to fool people into believing they were in two places at once." Suki explained.

Edward just looked up. He had no expression, no feeling, no life.

He had become just like Bella had when he had left her all those years ago.

Edward was numb.

Bella was still curled up, sobbing tearlessly, wanting Chrissy more than anything in the world right now.

"Edward, what do you think will happen to her?" Bella said, barely audible, even to vampire ears.

Edward just stared foward, not focused on anything in paticular. He was just...out of it.

"Edward?" Bella asked again, worried that something had happened to him in his fight with the fake Ricktor.

Suki gave Edward a sympathetic look and walked over to Bella.

"Bella, I think that maybe your husband has become, for lack of a better word, numb." Suki said sadly, wanting nothing more than to be able to tell everything. All the reasons they had come to them in the first place.

Alice just looked sadly at Edward, attempting one of her old tactics.

When the Cullen family had first become whole, with all of it's members before Bella joined, Edward tended to get massive headaches that could cripple him if he didnt get help.

Alice began to have him focus only on the minds of the family members.

Not the other town people with their petty problems of which lipstick to use, or what book to read.

After a month or so, Edward could successfully block all the minds around him except for the other family members.

Then Alice had him focus only on her mind. That was much easier.

Within a week, Edward could block all thoughts around him, and have a peaceful, silent conversation with Alice.

Eventually, he was able to block everything, but he never blocked Alice.

Alice knew this and began to sing to him.
