Tears formed in Bella’s eyes. If I knew her reaction would be like that, then I would have gotten the stupid journal for her. I still didn’t understand the stupid rules sometimes. I put on a calm face for Bella though.

“Let’s go, Bella!” I said, grabbing her shirt sleeve. I got out of the car and waited for her to get out, too. But she didn’t. I couldn’t say that I wasn’t surprised. “Bella…” I said sternly. “You aren’t going to find anything if you’re going to just sit there.”

“Well, what am I looking for anyway? What will I find in there?” she yelled at me. I rolled my eyes a little frustrated. But not with her though.

“I’m not supposed to tell you what you are looking for! But there’s something in there that you have to find!” I didn‘t wait for her to respond. I dragged her to the front door and opened it. It was harder to then I thought it would be. Her eyes were closed, though. “Open your eyes, Bella,” I ordered. When she did, she clutched a table for support.

“What do I look for?” she asked quietly. Couldn’t she take a hint? I can’t help her!

“Anything, just look around,” I said simply. I sat down in a comfy looking chair. I made myself comfortable as Bella looked around. My thoughts started to wander. The Head Angel was getting on my nerves. I already planned to report her to the Big Man, but I needed more trash on her. And just wait until I do…

“Oh my God, oh my God…” she chanted over and over again. She had to have found the journal. Relief ran through me.

“It sounds like you found it!” I called upstairs.

“What? The journal?” she called back. Bingo.

“I can’t tell you!” I yelled back up stairs. She seemed to take the hint and stayed up there longer. I didn’t hear any foot steps so I guessed that she was reading it.

I heard her sobbing upstairs. She defiantly found it. And she is defiantly motivated. She stomped back downstairs and I waited for her with a very happy look on my face. Her face was so determined it made me smile. Maybe I was wrong about her. Maybe she wasn’t just a clumsy girl with a broken heart…

“Thank goodness! You found it! But I have to warn you, though. I can’t help you as much the next time. You have to find what you are looking for entirely on your own,” I said a little upset. Bella’s journey will be complicated at the least.

“I’ll be fine,” she said. She walked out the door full of grace for the first time since I met her. I heard something then. And I knew exactly what it was.

“Walk around for a little Bella! I have to do something!” I called out to her quickly. I ran outside and followed the noise. Behind the house in an abandoned ally, was my mortal enemy.

“Jonathan,” I sneered at him.

“Yes?” he asked innocently.

“Just give it up,” I said impatiently.

“Why should I? Bella will be a great addition to Hell,” he said with a laugh.

“If Bella dies, she won’t be going to Hell. I’ll make sure of that. But, she won’t die!” I said quickly. He just laughed.

“And you are going to protect her? I killed your charges before, Beck,” he said tauntingly.

“That was a hundred years ago minimum. You haven’t killed any of my charges in a century and you will not start with Bella!”

“Oh really? Why don’t you tell that to James who is killing her right now,” he said with an evil grin. I forgot all about James…I had to get to Bella! But Jonathan attacked me then and I had to fight back. I made my way over to the park while fighting Jonathan at the same time. It was a difficult feat.

“It wasn’t really fair when your vampire friends killed me! You’re a human! Why should my life of been traded for yours!” I heard James scream. We entered the park to see James standing over Bella. But I couldn’t stop fighting. Jonathan didn’t give me the break. “It’s time to die, Bella!” James screamed. He ran towards Bella. She didn’t move. Not an inch.

I saw him punch her stomach. She doubled over in pain. He was going to torture her! That monster! I had to help her! I turned away from Jonathan quite stupidly and I felt his blow to my back. He was attacking me with such fury I had a very hard time defending myself. Pain shot through me and I tried to kick Jonathan off but to no prevail. Didn’t he know it was rude to hit a girl? Then I saw Bella’s leg. It was bleeding…

“Now I can carry this out with out any stupid vampires interrupting me,” James sneered into her ear. He then threw her into a tree. I saw her face twist up in pain. I failed her…

“Let me finish her off!” Victoria called out. Just wait until I get my hands on that red haired, evil urchin and her ugly demon mate! And of course Jonathan. That worthless, evil, frog is going to be beaten into a pulp when I’m done with him!

“Okay, honey,” James said smiling wickedly at Bella. She groaned as Victoria leaned over her.

“I’m sorry Bella,” I whispered but she didn’t hear me. Jonathan laughed in my ear.

But before Victoria could strike, or Jonathan could hit me again, I heard a voice that I never heard before. But Bella’s face was masked in shock and disbelief.
