The stream of fire rushed towards Bella. She had a look of both horror and sorrow on her face. Sorrow for her life ending and probably her lost love. A love that I wanted to reunite her with. But I failed at that, too. How, after so many years, did I let Jonathan get one of my charges? Especially one as important as Bella. Yes, I admit it. Bella was going to be special. I didn’t know why, the H.A (Head Angel) made sure of that. I hated her. More the anything(not including demons) in the world.

I half expected Edward to come crashing into the scene and save Bella heroically. Maybe he took my threat seriously and ran as fast as he could towards the love of his life. But I saw that he didn’t. And Bella was going to die. All because of Jonathan, too. The look on that demon’s face made me want to rip his head off. He just looked so excited. Well, not for long.

As it turned out, as I was standing there in shock and fear, Alice came to Bella’s rescue. Before I knew it, Alice was on top of Bella, who was laying on the ground with a hilarious look of confusion on her face. Then there was Alice who looked back towards Jonathan. I grinned at her flared nose and uncivilized eyes. I turned towards Jonathan with, I’m sure, a look of pure evil. His eyes widened as he realized that Bella was not dead. And they widened even wider as he saw a very pissed off Alice rushing towards him. As Alice and I gave Jonathan and James a beating of their ‘lives’, Bella started to cry. There was a look of pure joy on her face that made me want to smile, too. She honestly thought that Alice was going to let her die. But Alice is something both Bella and I could count on. I had a feeling that Alice and I would become very good friends. If the H.A lets me of course…I thought sarcastically. Did I say that I hated her yet? The remembrance of that demon in disguise, not literally of course, made me fight harder. I hoped that Jonathan was regretting ever crossing my path. The thought made me smile.

Victoria was still on the ground ‘unconscious’. I wondered if she was actually still hurt or was faking it. I had a feeling that it was the later. Bella walked into the sunshine then. She wrapped her arms around her like she was cold. What an odd girl…I thought. The look of sorrow was on her face again. Her eyes brows wrinkled and she looked like she was in deep thought. But then her eyes lit up, like a brilliant idea came to her. She started to walk again. I didn’t realize who she was walking towards until it was too late. She was headed right strait towards Victoria. I was going to scream for her to stop in her tracks when she stopped walking again. A look of pure joy and reasoning crossed over her face. I looked at her very confused. But before I could tell her to back away, that red haired monster leapt up and grabbed Bella. Before I could make a sound, they were both gone. I stared at the empty spot where Bella was in pure horror.

“Oh, CRAP!” I yelled. Alice stopped fighting and looked over to where I was. Her face slowly made it’s way to echo mine. James and Jonathan both laughed at our reactions.

“BELLA!” Alice shrieked. She then became very still and slowly turned around to face the two demons. Both stopped in mid laugh. Fuming, she took a step forward and then leapt at Jonathan. But he disappeared before she could reach him. But for some reason, James stayed. He took the blunt of Alice’s rage. He was holding up quite well, too. But then he shot Alice in the stomach, making her double over, and fall to the ground stunned. James growled and crouched down, his teeth barred. He looked a lot like a vampire right then. Old habits don’t die hard, I guess. A snarl escaped from him, making me back away. He was starting to act more like a wild animal then anything else. It was starting to scare me. He laughed then.

“It’s just you and me now, girlie,” he said menacingly. Girlie? Who does that little slime-. A loud crash interrupted my train of thought. I blinked a few times, unsure of what just happened. But there James was, on the ground with…

“Edward?” I asked confused. There he was, Bella’s love, standing over James with a look of fear on his face.

“Where’s Bella?” he asked urgently. The look on his face was so horror struck that I pointed in the direction that Victoria fled with Bella without any hesitation. He nodded. “Is Alice, okay?” he asked suddenly. I nodded. Then he was gone. James was still in shock, so I ran over to Alice. She started to stir and her face twisted up in pain.

“Alice!” I called to her. She blinked her eyes a couple of times before she sat up quickly.

“What on Earth-” she started to ask until she saw James. Before I could stop her, she was holding him up by his collar a few inches off of the ground. The sight surprised me since Alice a good foot or two shorter then James. It was pretty funny. I didn’t know Alice was filled with so much rage. “YOU ARE GOING TO-” she started to yell before James disappeared before her eyes. She blinked in confusion a couple of times. She looked at me, confused.

“No time to explain, we have to get to Bella,” I said urgently. Alice nodded and ran over to my side. We ran off into the forest, not knowing what to expect.
