Rating 4.5/5   Word Count 1194   Review this Chapter

Alice and I didn’t have much trouble finding Bella and Edward. When we entered the clearing, we saw Bella kneeling over Edward who was ‘unconscious’.

“Alice, do something!” Bella yelled at Alice. Alice rushed over and placed her hand on Edward’s forehead.

“I am…confused,” Alice finally said after minutes of speculation. “How could he be unconscious? He’s a vampire!”

“Our powers can do weird things to vampires. We can kind of stall their brains. Make then stop functioning for a little while,” I explained, feeling very angry. Just to think if Edward wasn’t there to help Bella….

“And how long is that?” Bella asked urgently. She looked down at Edward’s face, worry written all across hers.

“Judging the time since he was hit and how hard he was hit…I would say that he would wake up in a few minutes,” I said calculatingly. Bella looked overjoyed at the information. She looked down at Edward’s face eagerly. Alice motioned me away and we both snuck away to give Bella and Edward some time alone. We ran out of the clear clearing, giggling all the way. When we were far enough away from the clearing that
Bella wouldn’t hear us, we stopped. Alice and I jumped up and down just like little girls.

“He’s going to ask Bella to take him back!” Alice squealed and clapped her hands together. Both of our smiles were stretched across our faces. After we calmed down we started to take stock of the situation.

“What should we do now?” Alice asked nervously. I looked towards the ground and thought deeply.

“Where is your family staying?” I asked slowly.

“Denali,” she stated.

“Denali?” I asked eager. “How is Tanya doing?” I asked. Alice looked surprised that I knew her. “We are old friends. I check in every once and a while when I have the time.” Or am allowed to…I thought bitterly.

“She’s doing good,” Alice said nodding. We stood there for a few seconds, contemplating what to do next. “Maybe we should bring Bella to Denali,” she offered. I nodded.

“Yes, we should.” I was going to say more when Alice closed her eyes. When she opened them, fright was written across her face.

“They’re going to kill Bella!” she screamed and started to panic. “We have to get back there!” Alice said, starting to turn around. I grabbed a hold of her arm.

“What happened?” I asked, referring to her vision.

“They ambushed her when we weren’t paying very much attention!” Alice said quickly. I nodded and we started to run towards the clearing. Bella and Edward looked up
when we made out selves known.

“We have a problem,” Alice said, eyeing Bella carefully. She then looked at Edward. Edward’s eyes grew as he read Alice’s mind. Alice looked at Bella worriedly, making her uncomfortable. A deep growl came from Edward and he pulled Bella closer against him. It looked like he would crush her.

“Nobody is killing Bella,” Edward said angrily. He pulled her in even closer and it looked like she was having trouble breathing. But the smile on her face kept me from saying anything.

“But then how can we protect her? Jonathan is out to get her and he will never stop until he kills her,” I said anxious. A thought came to me. I closed my eyes and tried to send a message to Edward. It’s another plus to being an angel. I could send telepathic
messages to people.

“I’m not going to take her soul away!” Edward yelled. I started to get angry then.

“But then she will be safer!” I responded. “Jonathan can’t touch her then! Heaven and Hell only fight over humans! Not vampires!”

“I don’t care! I can’t make her loose her soul!” Edward growled.

“She won’t loose her soul!” I said frustrated.

“And how do you know?” Edward asked with out thinking. I looked at him angrily. He realized his mistake soon enough. Who would know if a vampire could go to heaven other then an angel? “Oh yes…But Bella hates the sight of blood and she will have to drink it!” he said trying to make up more excuses.

“I’m sure she’ll warm up to it,” I said.

“She won’t be able to eat food or sleep!” Not good enough.

“Is that very bad?”

"It’s not my decision!”

“What do you think she’ll say?”

Edward looked pleadingly at Bella. Slowly, sadness and anger took over her face.

“I thought you loved me!” She screamed at him. He looked shocked at her outburst. We all were shocked.

“What are you talking about?” he asked back, just as loud.

“I’m going to die if you don’t change me Edward. You know that and you still don’t want to change me! Maybe you want me to die!” She said, pointing a finger at him accusingly. She broke away from his embrace.

“What?” he asked incredulously. He seemed at a loss for words. Bella looked like she was going to break down at any second.

“How could you be so cruel! I can’t believe you!” She cried. Tears were streaming down her face. She turned to walk away. Alice and I were too shocked to move. Edward caught her easily, though. She tried to struggle, but she didn’t get away.

“Bella! Bella listen! Stop Bella.” His tone was hard and pleading. She looked like she was going to argue but she didn’t. “Bella, listen. I don’t want to change you because I love you. I’m not sure if I could control my self. What if I bite you, and I end up killing you? What do you think that will do to me?” Realization spread across her face.

“I’m so sorry Edward!” she cried, burying her face into his shoulder. “I really do love you, but you have to see that this may be the only way.”

“I know but-”

“No. Back in Phoenix you had to drink my blood and you controlled myself. All you need to do is bite down for five seconds!” He looked like he was thinking. Hard. His mouth opened and closed many times, probably changing his mind at what he was going to say.

“Maybe…” he said quietly. He looked at Bella quickly then. “When?” He asked. He looked towards Alice.

“They won’t attack for a little while yet. I think Jonathan is somehow keeping his plan from me, but James and Victoria aren’t though,” she said slowly. She looked deep in thought. “But I’m not sure how reliable my visions are now. I have no idea what Jonathan could be doing to somehow change them around.” I wondered how Jonathan could be doing that. Was it a demon power that I didn’t know about? Alice looked at Bella quickly then. “We should change her, Edward.”

“No!” But the voice didn’t come from Edward. A huge figure stepped out of the forest and into the clearing. Bella squinted to see who it was. When she realized who it was, she gasped. Jacob Black and the other werewolves walked into the clearing. Great…I thought. Just something else to make my job harder…
