It had only been about 10 hours, and we were already there. In Alaska. Denali, to be exact. It was completely sunless, as I expected, but it carried an unwelcome cheeriness that I didn’t expect. I had spent the entire drive dry-sobbing, and my emotions still weren’t stable. I hurt everyone in my human life so badly; how could I live with myself? I cringed at the thought of what Charlie must be going through, and Renee, and Jake. Jake. I had left him. For his mortal enemy. Correction, I became his mortal enemy. I could never see him again, at least, without starting a war. I sighed, and I glanced up to see a palatial house in front of us, with five smiling people standing directly in front of it.

As we pulled in, we saw Carlisle and Esme, Alice and Jasper, Emmett, and Rosalie all exiting their cars and stepping forward to hug the smiling people.

“Hi, everyone, how are you. You must be Bella,” said a tall, muscular man with brown hair and topaz eyes. “I’m Eleazar, and these are Carmen, Tanya, Irina, and Kate.”

He smiled, and I smiled back, but it wasn’t wholeheartedly. Jasper tried to push a wave of happiness over me, but I depressively turned to him and gently shook my head. He nodded understandingly. I suddenly felt a pair of strong, cool hands wrapping around my neck from behind, and soft, seemingly sugar-coated lips lightly kissing up and down my neck. I grinned at him slightly, but it didn’t reach my eyes and he could clearly tell.

That’s when I smelt it, that sugary sweet elixir that would make everything better. I turned at vampire speed, and there it was, a large, innocent elk running straight past us. My instincts took over. I ran at an exhilarating speed over to it, and before it could blink it was on the ground, me slowly sucking its life away. I drank, and I drank, and there was nothing left. Not a drop. I realized what I had done, and turned around to find Edward walking over to me.

“Edward, I’m a monster!” I whispered, distressed. “I just killed this completely innocent animal. How could I do that?”

“You aren’t a monster. You aren’t, really. I love you, no matter what you are or what you drink. I will always love you, and I always have loved you,” he murmured into my ear.

“That’s still not justification for what I did,” I responded, gazing deep into his limitless eyes. “I’m still a monster.”

“Well, then, let’s be monsters together. Come on, we should go inside. Everyone can’t wait to talk to you, and Alice and Rosalie want to take you shopping, of course.”

I giggled at this. Not just because it was to be expected, but because I was excited. Wait, I was excited about shopping? Wow. That is a drastic change.

“And you haven’t even seen yourself, yet,” he added, smiling and facing me.

“It’s absolutely amazing,” he muttered away from me, under his breath. I wouldn’t have caught it if I weren’t a vampire.

I ran, at human speed, up to his side and grabbed his shoulder. He turned, and we gazed into each other’s eyes.

“I love you,” he whispered, smiling.

“I love you, too,” I replied. If I could, I would have been blushing. “Come on, we really need to get inside. Everyone has to be wondering what’s going on.” I pushed him, jokingly. “Race?” I laughed, with a huge smirk on my face. He just nodded, and we were off.

We ran with the wind in our hair; Edward looking like a god, of course. The speed was amazing. I had run before, but this was longer. We were about 30 miles from the house, and it took us over a minute to get back. I ended up victorious, beating Edward by several seconds. I smugly rolled my eyes when he came to a stop, only inches from me, and grabbed his arm to pull him into the house. He shocked me by pulling harder on me, and twirling me against the dark, mahogany door. His topaz eyes poured into mine, and he leaned in to kiss me, starting gently and gradually getting more and more passionate. It was amazing; having his lips on mine, becoming one. I intertwined my fingers in his bronze hair, and he ran his strong, cool hands up my back and to my chest, carefully tracing under my bra line with a single finger. We got more and more involved, and-

“Ahem,” Emmett coughed; the smirk on his face incredibly prominent. “None of that on the porch please. Get a room!” Edward rolled his eyes, and pulled the door open. We stepped through, our eye contact never breaking. We were still holding each other, and we heard the giggling of the entire family behind us, including those of the Denali clan. We simply ignored them, and he gently yanked me towards a beautiful spiral staircase. Edward swept me up into his arms and leaned in to kiss my neck. He walked up the stairs, slowly, not wanting to ruin this moment any more than I did. I smiled, and my favorite crooked smile came across his angelic face. We reached the top of the stairs, and opened the first door on our right. Inside it was a magnificent grand piano in the back corner, an entire wall of CD’s opposite it, a deep, brown leather couch to our right, and a steaming pool of water, dead center. My jaw dropped in amazement as he lightly let me down on the bench next to him by the piano. He fingers touched the keys, and I immediately knew what he was playing.

My lullaby. If it was possible, it sounded even more beautiful now that I was a vampire. If I could have cried, I would have. Edward was amazing. I loved him more than I could imagine. I could be with this amazing being forever. Forever. The word rang in my head, and I smiled. Forever. I leaned in to kiss him, for one of many times I would the time I would spend, eternally awake. With Edward. Forever. My smile grew, and Edward once again swept me into his arms, this time carrying me to the sofa. He plopped me down and curled up behind me, and we were in a position very much like the way we were while I was asleep in my human life. But now, I was awake forever. Forever. Forever. I would be with Edward forever.
