“Edward,” I whispered.
“What did you say Bella?” Alice asked, turning to look at me.
“Edward,” I said loudly.
“Bella,” I heard his voice whisper from all the way across the cafeteria. I trembled at the sound of it, that gorgeous velvet voice.
“Bella, are you o-oh my gosh,” Alice said, trailing off in amazement, but nothing she did could break the trance I was in as I stared into the deep topaz eyes of the man who I loved with all my heart who I thought was dead.
I got up from the table quickly, at the same time Edward shoved his tray at a vampire standing next to him.
It seemed like everything was moving in slow motion as I ran, maybe to quickly, towards him, and he towards me.
As soon as I reached him I jumped into his arms, which he wrapped around my waist, keeping me secured to him as I had lifted my feet off the ground. I tucked my face into the crook of his neck and let out a sob of happiness.
“H-h-how?” I asked as I breathed in his scent. “I thought you were dead.”
“I was,” he whispered, and then he took his face back from my hair and kissed me.
I kissed him back with as much passion as I could muster, and when we finally pulled apart, I smiled. Not the grimace that everyone was accustomed to lately, but an actually smile of happiness.
“I love you, my beautiful Bella,” he whispered in my ear.
“I love you too Edward.” I whispered back, staring into his eyes.
“Not that I want to break up this little love fest that you two are having, but if we don’t either exit the cafeteria soon, or go sit down, people are going to start asking questions, I had a vision.” Alice sounded smug.
“You had a vision?” I looked at her, eyes wide.
“Yep!” She exclaimed, popping the ‘p’.
“Fine, let’s go outside.” I headed toward the door, Edward’s arm wrapped around my waist, and I leaned into him, sighing at how good and familiar it felt.
Once we had made it around the cafeteria where no one could see us, I wrapped my arms around his neck once more and pressed my lips to his.
Someone coughed from next to us and I glanced over to see my family, Mike and Jessica, and two other vampires I didn’t know, standing there and watching us.
“I don’t mean to be rude, but…” the unfamiliar girl trailed off.
“Oh, yes,” Edward said, turning to them, but keeping his arm around me, I snuggled in closer to him. “Everyone, these are Daniel and Eloise. Dan and Eli these are Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, Emmett… Mike and Jessica?” He looked at them confused for a minute, but then looked at me, “and this is my beautiful Bella.”
If I was human I would have blushed, and even though I was a vampire I still had the urge to hide my face, which I did in Edward’s chest. He pulled me tighter with the arm that was wrapped around my waist, and stroked my hair with the other hand, kissing my head every few seconds.
When I finally pulled away the rest of the family came up to greet him.
Alice squealed and threw her arms around him, which was kind of difficult seeing as he wouldn’t let go of me. Jasper patted him on the back and smiled. Rosalie hugged him also, which was something I rarely saw her do to other people besides Emmett and I, she had comforted me a lot after my transformation. And Emmett came up and punched his arm, chuckling and said, “It’s been weird not having your weird mind reading business around the house. There’s no one there to yell at me when my thoughts about Rosie get to graphic.”
We had all laughed and then Mike walked up to Edward, smiling nervously, and apologized quickly for everything he had ever thought about me that could possibly have made him upset. Edward had laughed it off, forgiving him and then thanking Mike for letting him feel the human emotion of jealousy.
Jessica’s greeting of Edward was different. It was completely obvious she still had feelings for him.
She flitted up and put a hand on his chest, and said, obviously trying to sound seductive. “Hey, Edward, haven’t seen you in awhile, maybe we could get together alone
sometime and catch up on everything that’s changed.”
She batted her eyelashes at him, but he wasn’t paying any attention to her, his eyes were trained on me, as mine were on his. And I had no doubt he was trying to memorize my face like I was his, trying to find every little difference in it from the last time I saw him.
Of course his hadn’t changed a bit, but mine had.
“I’m going to miss your blush.” He said, running his thumb slowly across my cheek.
“I still can blush a little bit,” I told him, “but only right after I hunt.”
“Well then, we’ll have to go hunting so that I can embarrass you and make you blush,” he said with a smile on his face. I sighed at his crooked smile; I had missed it so much.
“Now that introductions are out of the way, we need to go home! Esme and Carlisle are going to be ecstatic!” Alice exclaimed.
“Of course,” Edward smiled at her and then looked down at me again.
As we headed towards the cars, Alice said I should go with Edward and his new family in their car; she knew we wouldn’t want to be separated from each other again.
Mike and Jessica hung back, unsure of what to do.
“Aren’t you guys coming?” Alice called over her shoulder. They looked at each other, nodded, and then headed toward their car.
Daniel and Eloise slid into the front, while Edward and I got in the back.
We just stared at each other, I’m pretty sure Eloise tried to talk to us, but she gave up, realizing that we weren’t going to pay attention. I definitely wasn’t going to take my eyes off of Edward ever again.
