Dr. Fustner looked at me confused as she saw my expression. She walked over to another chair and sat on across from me.

“It’s nice to meet you Mr. and Ms. Swan,” she said sweetly. She held her hand out for Charlie to shake. Her topaz eyes shone brightly. I noticed that all the blinds were down. She and Charlie talked for a little while about who-knows-what. I was too distracted to actually hear what they were talking about because there was a vampire in the room. “Now, if you will excuse us, Mr. Swan, I would like to talk to Bella in private,” she asked suddenly.

“Sure, Dr. Fustner,” he said gladly. He walked out of the room quickly. Dr. Fustner turned to me almost immediately.

“Ar-are these rooms sound proof?” I asked slowly.

“Yes…They are,” she said cautiously. I slid forward in my chair. I could smell the famous vampire scent easily. It made my eyes water.

“What’s wrong, Bella?” Dr. Fustner asked. I looked at her with teary eyes. Beautiful of course. Soft features, compassionate eyes…like a woman Carlisle.

“It’s just that…you remind me of someone…” I said through sobs.

“How?” the doctor said very nervously.

“Topaz eyes, beautiful, can’t be in the sun…” I trailed off suggestively. Her eyes widened.

“I-I can be in the sun,” she said quickly.

“Yes, you can be but you will sparkle like a disco ball,” I said. She just stared at me with those wide eyes.

“When I saw…I was so confused…” she whispered to herself.

“Do you have a power?” I asked eagerly. She shook her head to clear her thoughts.

“How do you know about…vampires?” she asked quietly. I smiled to myself.

“Oh, I just had my heart broken by one,” I said as calmly as possible. The whole in my chest started to throb uncontrollably. I clutched my chest to try to keep it together.

“B-Bella?” she asked worried. She walked over to me and put an arm around my shoulders. “It’s okay…when you’re ready, can you tell me what happened…from the beginning?” she asked curiously. I nodded. I took a few deep breathes and wiped the tears from my eyes.

“Well,” I started. “I moved from Phoenix to Forks to give my mother some privacy with her new husband. But on the first day of school, I saw this mysterious group of students…” I went on to tell her how Edward and I fell in love all up to Jacob ditching me. When I was done, Dr. Fustner looked terribly surprised. “Dr. Fustner?” I asked worried.

“Call me Laura,” she said a little dazed. Hs shook her head again. “Well, this is a first for me,” she said humorously. I laughed and sobbed at the same time. I wiped my nose on a nearby tissue.

“You still didn’t tell me if you have a power yet,” I said reminding her. I was curious since I hadn’t seen another friendly vampire since…they left.

“Oh yes…I can see what’s making people suffer. It’s pretty handy when you’re a physiatrist,” she said.

“So, that’s why you were confused when you fist saw me. You saw Edward, didn’t you?” I asked. She nodded her head. She sat forward in her chair.

“Bella, I’m not sure what to do about your…problem. I’m not sure therapy will help you. From what I heard, you must of really, really loved him,” she said. “And not to mention your w-La Push friend also abandoning you,” she said. I heard her mutter something under her breath.

“What was that?”

“Nothing,” she said quickly. “I’m not going to waste time with that ‘How do you feel about that’ junk, now. We have to get to the bottom of each of your problems. First, let’s get to work on your La Push friend. You say he was fine and happy before the movie. And then he went home and stopped talking to you?”

“Yes.” The look on Laura’s face scared me. She looked at me quickly.

“Bella, I think I know what happened to…Jacob. But it may freak you out, to put it simply. I don’t want everyone to come rushing in because your screaming hysterics,” she warned me. I nodded.

“I’ll be fine,” I said eagerly. Laura nodded and took a deep breath.

“There are vampires in the world, but you already know that. But vampires have one true enemy, werewolves,” she said. She looked at me to gauge my reaction. “Every man who is a werewolf inherits the gene from their father. Bella…I think Jacob is a werewolf,” she said slowly. I just sat there. My mind wouldn’t put the pieces together. Jacob…a werewolf? Sweet, kind, Jacob…a giant dog?

“What…do they look like?” I asked thinking about the wolves I saw in the meadow.

“They are gigantic. They look a lot like giant wolves.” I nodded.

“Do…they hurt people?” I asked urgently.

“Only if they get angry. But they won’t or usually don’t just go out and kill people,” she said quickly in an attempt to keep me calm. I leaned back in my chair. Jacob…a werewolf…Well I sure didn’t expect that.

“I just can’t keep myself away from mystical creatures, can’t I?” I said jokingly. Laura chuckled.

“I guess you can’t.” She closed her eyes and then opened them again. “Now, we figured out what Jacob is, now we have to find out why Edward left,” she said.

“He left because he doesn’t love me anymore!” I said a little loudly. Laura looked taken aback by my outburst.

“Now, if there’s one thing I learned through decades of doing this, I know that he didn’t leave because he doesn’t love you. From what I heard and from what I know, he is still deeply in love with you,” she said calculatingly.

“Then why would he leave?” I asked frustrated.

“His brother almost killed you at your birthday party. You wanted to be changed into a vampire. He leaves you because he is afraid that he or another vampire in your life will kill you,” she said wisely.

“But there is another vampire in my life. Victoria. She’s going to kill me!” I said frightened. Laura sat back in her seat.

“That is a problem,” she said slowly. But then she perked up as if she remembered something. “But your werewolves are guarding you form her! I’m positive on that!”

“What?” I asked utterly confused.

“Jacob feels guilty that he can’t be with you, so he is guarding you from the vampire that is trying to kill you,” she said proud of herself. I could almost see the light bulb flickering over my head. My life seemed to be coming together. Laura looked at her watch. “Darn, we went over time,” she muttered. She looked at me quickly. “Why don’t we schedule another appointment…how about next week?” she asked. I agreed eagerly. She stood up and motioned me to walk out of the room with her. Charlie was sitting in the waiting room looking anxious. “Mr. Swan?” Laura asked.

“Yes?” Charlie said quickly.

“We would like to schedule another appointment for next week, is that alright with you?” she asked even though we both knew that it would be.

“Sure!” Charlie said overjoyed. I smiled. I said goodbye to Laura and left the office. While driving back from Seattle I decided what I was going to do with my life. I had to see Jacob, obviously. But what about Edward. I doubted every word Laura said about him. He didn’t love me! He told me that himself! But what if…?
