Victoria loomed over me, her teeth barred and gleaming. My arm seemed to have a pulse of it’s own as it pounded against it’s self. My mouth hung open with shock as her evil laugh filled the room.

“I finally have you where I want you,” she said high spirited. “You can thank your wolf friend for that. Too slow to catch me! And now I finally can get my revenge,” she said. “I still don’t know why you don’t have your vampire friends around anymore. It’s probably because your so damn worthless,” she said, ripping a whole through my heart. She realized this and began laughing again. “I can finally have my fun with you,” she said pointing at me. She walked over and placed her foot over my left leg. She started to press down. She was about to break it when the door crashed open and something hard and fast smashed into Victoria. Victoria went flying into the table disoriented. I then looked at what caused the disturbance. Laura was standing over me protectively. My mouth dropped open.

“Gees, Bella. Can’t stay out of trouble on second can you?” Laura said a little frustrated. Seeing that she had another vampire to fight, Victoria ran out of the door at high speeds. As soon as she was gone, Laura shut the door and turned to me. “What did you need to talk about?” she asked me. My face fell remembering the ordeal. I walked over to sit on the couch and Laura followed me.

“I went to see Jacob again,” I said. Laura nodded encouragingly. “He knows that I know he’s a werewolf.” More nods. “And he still blew me off,” I finished. Her nod stopped in mid-nod.

“What?” she asked outraged. I turned my head to hide my tears.

“He’s probably taking his job seriously. I mean come on. He can loose his anger for one second and-”

“That-!”

“Laura please…I can’t take anymore flying emotions,” I said quietly. Laura understood and leaned back into the couch. She looked at me curiously.

“You’re still not over Edward,” she stated.

“Obviously,” I said after a small sob. She closed her eyes and opened them again.

“I don’t know if you want to know this but…” Laura started. She looked at my face and started again. “I called Denali since I stayed there for a little while…I know where the Cullens are,” she said looking at me nervously. My mouth dropped open in surprise. The Cullens…She knew where they were…I could…

“WHERE ARE THEY?” I screamed in her face. She looked at me surprised and then smiled.

“I thought that I would get that reaction,” she said chuckling. “They’re in Denali,” she said quickly. I jumped up and started to un towards the phone.

“Give me their number!” I screamed again. She smiled at me.

“I have to mentally prepare you first,” she said.

“I am prepared!” I yelled. She frowned. I tried to calm down. “Look. I haven’t seen or heard from them in seven months. I need to hear their voices,” I said. Laura nodded.

“Then I dial and tell you when you can go on,” Laura said. I nodded eagerly. I handed her the phone and she dialed. I heard the phone ring for a millisecond. “Hello Tanya?…Yah, it’s Laura…Good! How are you?…That’s good. I actually called here for the Cullens,” Laura said. “Are they there?…Can I talk to them?….Uh,” she turned to me. “Which one?” She whispered.

“Alice,” I whispered back. I wanted to hear my best friend’s voice.

“Here you go,” she whispered and handed the phone to me.

“Hello?” Alice’s bubbly voice filled my ear. I sobbed quietly and I couldn’t answer. “Hello?” Alice asked again. “Is anyone there?” I knew I had to talk before she hung up.

“Hi, Alice. It’s Bella,” I said as calm as possible. The other line went quiet.

“BELLA?” Alice cried out shocked.

“Yes, it’s me,” I said through tears. I heard many voices on the other line.

“Bella, why are you calling? You sound horrible. I knew we shouldn’t of left. I’m so sorry! You know what? I’m tired of this? Are you? Are you okay?” Alice asked quickly. I was overwhelmed by the questions and stayed quiet for a few minutes. “BELLA?” Alice said impatiently. I sighed. I didn’t know if I should tell her the truth or not.

“I’m miserable Alice,” I said. Tears started to flow down my cheeks. “I even turned to a werewolf for company! I-I’m a hollow shell. I’m going to the physiatrist! Who just happens to be a vampire! I-I’m lost!” I yelled into the phone. The other line went silent. “Alice?” I asked quietly.

“Oh, Bella! I’m so sorry! In fact…I’m coming back. I can’t take this anymore! Hang on! I’ll be there soon!” Alice said before the line went dead. I stared at it in shock. “She-she’s coming back,” I said in disbelief. Laura smiled.

“I knew that I could do it,” she muttered to herself. I smiled at her. To her I would be forever grateful. But just then a knock came from the door. Laura grew stiff and stared at the door calculatingly. “It’s…” Laura started to say, but then trailed off. I walked over to the door and opened it. On the other side stood Jacob Black.
