I dropped my backpack on the floor as I entered our beautiful, spacious house. Edward followed me in; if he was a human he would have tripped over my backpack, situated perfectly in front of the door, but his vampire reflexes enabled him to dart out of the way at the last minute.
“Jeez, Alice!” he complained. “Move your backpack!”
I shrugged passively. “Why? We all have super-reflexes; you can just jump over it.”
“Alice,” Esme chided softly as she entered, evidently having heard the majority of our conversation, “move your backpack.”
I rolled my eyes in a typical, human teenager-ish way that almost made me smile, or would have if I had not been so annoyed, and grabbed my backpack. I slung it over my shoulder and attempted to dart upstairs, but Esme stepped in front of me.
“What’s wrong, Alice?” she asked, concern written all over her face.
I shrugged, knowing perfectly well that I was not acting at all like myself today. “Nothing.”
“Liar,” Edward muttered, collapsing on the couch and pulling out a book.
Shut up, Edward, I thought.
“Alice,” Esme said, looking hurt. “You can tell me!”
I sighed and tossed my backpack next to Edward. “Nothing! Some stupid guys decided to pull a series of pranks on poor Jasper, and...”
“Alice, get over that!” a voice interrupted me. I glanced over and saw Jasper entering the house and hurrying over to me. He kissed me on the cheek lightly.
“No, Jasper,” I growled, “we had this discussion before.”
Esme sighed, giving me a sympathetic smile. “Alice, these things will happen. You just have to learn how to ignore them.”
I scowled. “What, and let them get away with it for the rest of their lives? I don’t want morons like them living for the next 70 years! Someone has to teach them a lesson, and soon! I find myself perfectly capable of doing so.”
With that speech, I dashed upstairs, not waiting for a reply. When I reached my room, I realized that I had left my backpack downstairs, but I shrugged it off. Who needs homework anyways? No, I had much bigger fish to fry.
I grabbed a pen and a pad of paper, and threw myself on my bed. I lay on my stomach, propped up by my elbows, and tapped my pen on the notepad absentmindedly. How can I get sufficient revenge? It had to be an act subtle enough so that I would not get in trouble, but obvious enough so that they knew that I had gotten them back for what they did to my Jasper. It should not be too hard.
A small knock on the door suddenly reached my ears, and I lifted my head slightly.
“Who is it?” I asked, knowing that I was in a better mood.
“It’s me, Alice,” Jasper’s soft voice floated through the wood of the door. “Please open the door.”
Jasper! I jumped up and rushed to the door, swinging it open. Jasper glided into the room soundlessly and I shut the door again. Jasper glanced at my black notepad.
“You’re really going to do this?” he asked, looking up at me. I bit my lip and danced over to him.
“Of course, Jazzy!” I exclaimed, jumping on to the bed next to him. “I have to.”
He sighed thoughtfully. “I don’t like it, but I know that there’s no stopping you once you have your mind set.”
I gave him a huge, thrilled smile.
“One condition though,” he said quickly.
“Oh anything!” I said in excitement, throwing myself into his arms. He pulled my close to him.
“Just don’t hurt them at all, or give anything away, please,” he whispered. I smiled. That kept so many possibilities open.
“Thank you, Jasper,” I said in a tone that matched his.
I darted behind a locker as the principal led seven boys, soaked to the skin in shaving cream, down the hall. The swinging door to the boys’ bathroom was almost as soaked as they were, and from what I could see of inside, it was not much better. I bit my lip to keep from bursting out laughing as the boys turned to me with furious expressions on their faces. I beamed at them innocently as Jasper hurried up to me.
“What did you do?” he asked in awe.
That was definitely an option. A huge smile came over my face.
“What is it?” Jasper asked, looking down at my gleeful expression. “What did you see?”
“It’s going to work out perfectly,” I promised him.
Suddenly, Edward’s shriek broke through my moment of happiness.
“Alice Cullen Hale! If you even think about fulfilling that vision, I will hunt you down,” he shouted. I giggled softly.
Oh, Edward, they deserve it. Why are you sticking up for them?
“Because that is going too far!” Edward answered me from his room.
It’s just one option, Edward! I have not completely made my decision yet!
However, it was a brilliant plan. I smiled. Tomorrow.
