She ran through the forest, ignoring the scraps and bruises that the bushes left on her tanned skin.

A wolf howled in the distance and she stumbled landing on the damp earth. While trying to prevent her fall she had reached out to grab hold of something to steady her yet all that she accomplished was landing her right arm on a stone. She cried out in agony yet didn’t stop to nurture the growing pain. Picking herself up she staggered on, feeling the thorns cut through the material of her gown.

In the distance she could hear the sound of the river. Releasing a cry of relief she limped on setting her eyes on the distant meadow. All she had to do was cross over to the other side where she was certain she could find a farmer or someone to help her.

The cloud covered the moonlight sending the land into darkness. She tried to feel her way over the uneven ground feeling blind as the old farmer who had been offered up as a sacrifice. It was then that she heard them, faint and distant it was like she was reliving a nightmare.

“Blood stains, sir!” yelled a voice.

The sound of loud barks answered the statement and she shivered in response remembering the huge creatures that he called dogs. She refused to let loose the tears that threatened to fall at the memory of him.

He had once been her best friend, her confidant, her childhood sweetheart, her lover but now he was her captor, her jailer and her tormentor.

“Well, well, well, what have we here?”

She fell face forward to the ground, unable to pick herself up again. She couldn’t feel her arms nor her legs. She knew her lip was cut at the metallic taste of blood that entered her mouth.

A booted foot kicked her onto her back, her hair covering her eyes from her predator. She heard him kneel beside her as his fingers gently brushed aside her hair covering her eyes, the touch a mocking gesture to her broken heart.

“Still mortal are we, Bella? Or half mortal?” came his voice like a cold gust of wind on her bruised face.

She tried to open her mouth but knew she couldn’t, not when his accomplices power was held over her.

His ice cold finger capturing the drop of blood that ran down her chin. She moaned at the welcoming sensation of something cool against her burning cut.

“A gift from heaven, you are,” he continued, laughing. The reminder of his words, once spoken with an emotion far from hate, tore at her heart like a sword.

“But you can’t save me from hell…cause frankly,” he went on as he bent closer to her face and voiced the words that would forever stand between them, “ I own hell!”

Tears that she had been fighting won as they fell down her face. His sneer and black eyes bore into hers yet they would never know the silent agonized scream that erupted within her soul EDWARD… NO!!!!!!
