When I finally landed, I landed into the water, causing it to splash, my body making a loud thud as it collided with the concrete. No...it wasn't water. It was sewage.

Oh, God. I groaned under my breath and crawled backwards to get out of it, but wound up hitting a wall. I looked up to see a tiny dot of daylight--not even close to enough to give me the slightest clue as to how far I had fallen.

I looked around nervously for a way out, but it was pitch black. I couldn't see a thing. I couldn't help my desperate rapid breathing, my fear taking over me, causing me to tremble.

I closed my eyes, hoping in vain that this was all just a nightmare and that I would wake up in his arms, and have him reassure me of his unconditional love for me.

But, it wasn't. It wasn't a nightmare...and it wasn't going away. Not unless I did something to stop it.

I opened my eyes again and felt my way along the wall to try to get to some dry land. My eyes adjusted slightly to the dark, but not much. I could make out a narrow passageway several feet before me.

I stretched my arm forward, hoping to find some clue as to where I was and what to do next, but I simply touched bars? A gate. No. No! I did not come this far to fail...I felt around for something to help me break it down.

I found useless things like pebbles, but nothing really...how the hell was I supposed to get through this?

I grabbed onto the bars desperately with my hands and shook them, hoping stupidly that that would be enough. After a while, I strained to push it, using my whole body weight against it. It moved slightly with a loud creaking noise and that was when I realized that it wasn't locked; it was just really old and was not easily moved.

I adjusted my stance and braced myself against the gate, pushing it as hard as I could, with a grunt. Slowly but surely, it opened, but it caused tremors and vibrations throughout the passageway.

How had I not been heard yet? Why haven't I been ambushed yet?

I groaned impatiently and shoved even harder, managing to open it up enough to barely get through it.

I made to go through it when a loud clatter and the sound of the screams of other tortured victims echoed through the walls, causing me to gasp and slip, falling again into the sewage, until I was completely submerged in it.

I came back up, coughing and spluttering, "No...oh, God..." I broke off, coughing, as I managed to squeeze through the gate, despite my uncontrollable trembling. I fell into the wall on the other side and whimpered softly as I made to run through the seemingly endless passageway.

I didn't realize that the passageway was actually a winding staircase, going down even further into the ground, so I accidentally missed the first two steps and made to catch myself on the railing only to find there was none, so I rolled down the endless flight of stairs, forcing myself to not scream as I did, hitting myself on both walls, the edge of the stairs, and colliding with a huge metal door, which forced me to stop.

I let out a soft cry of pain and rolled weakly onto my stomach, supporting myself by my hands. My hands were trembling as I struggled to support my weight. I moaned, exhaling shakily, as I grabbed the handle on the metal door to pull myself up, but I accidentally pulled it down and it swung open.

As it opened, a small light came on, just enough so I could make out what I was seeing...human skeletons.

I let out a piercing scream, covering my mouth to stifle it, and jerked around to escape it only to trip and fall, hitting my head on the corner of the last step of the staircase.

I immediately felt light-headed and weak as blood came gushing out of my wound. No! Now, I was definitely going to get caught. If they didn't hear my scream, the scent of my blood would give me away. Damn it...I was too weak to continue on. No...no...no...

I rolled over weakly, my head lolling against the wall. I was doomed...I had failed. It was over.

I felt something crawl on my arm, but I was too weak to care. It crawled across my skin up to my chest, resting mere inches from my face.

I forced myself to look down to see a rat on me, twitching slightly and squeaking. I squealed and backed away, throwing it off me.

I doubled over, the blood making me so weak and nauseous that I wished I could just die.

Suddenly, I heard excruciating screams of pain from him. It seemed to be issuing all around me and, at first, I thought I was just hallucinating until I heard another one following it, this one even worse.

I straightened up and forced myself to pinpoint it. Then, I remembered my purpose for coming here. This had nothing to do with me...it had everything to do with him...and I would save him if it was the last thing I did.

Instead of feeling the usual unbearable pain of merely thinking his name, I felt strength and will replace it. My will to save him was stronger than anything I had ever felt. I would save Edward...and nothing could stop me.

To keep from tripping yet again, I leaned my back against the wall and felt along the wall as I inched my way towards the sound, taking great care in my footing, though I still managed to stumble every so often. I moaned softly, struggling not to cry, when I finally spotted a small light in the direction of the screams. It looked to be candle light.

I let my eyes adjust a bit before realizing that that was where he was. "Edward..." I ran off towards the light until I reached the end of it.

It was apparently some sort of dungeons. There was another huge metal gate between us, keeping me from him. "No! Edward!" I once again used all my strength to try to break it down, rattling the gate uselessly.

I couldn't see him, but I could hear him calling my name, deliriously. "Bella...Bella...Bella...Bella?...I need you..."

Those words gave me a sudden strength I had never known before and I kicked the gate as hard as I could, causing it to break open, slamming against the wall with a loud clatter.
