Rose sat down next to me and hugged me. “Alice, I don’t know how you feel, but if you ever want anyone to talk to, I’m here for you. I know I haven’t been the best of sisters, especially lately, what with Bella, but I want to change that. I’m so sorry.”

“Thanks, Rose,” I said.

“Anytime, Alice,” she replied.

I heard the door open and slam, and Jacob’s deep voice. “Alice?”

“Yeah, Jake?” I asked.

“Are you okay? Do you need anything?”

“A hug would be nice…”

“Then a hug it is!”

Another of his amazing hugs.

“Alice, can we talk?” he asked.

“Sure, Jacob.”

We sat down on a couch. “Alice, are you sure you’re okay?”

“I’m kind of numb. I don’t really feel anything.”

“Okay, that’s good to know. I need to know if there is anything, anything I can do to help, Alice.”

“You can kiss me,” I said.

“Are you sure? I mean, you and Ja- him just broke up yesterday. Are you just replacing me with him?”

“No, Jacob, I’m not. I really do like you. I do want you to kiss me.”

“Good.”

And his lips were on mine, moving in ways I’d not known with Jasper. He pulled me into his lap and I wrapped my arms around his neck. Suddenly, he broke away from me. I was disappointed until I realized that he did have to breathe. Again, his lips pressed to mine. This time, his arms wrapped around my waist, and I squeezed his neck as tightly as I could without hurting him. Then his lips left mine, but they did not leave my skin- he trailed them up to my hairline and to my ear.

“Alice Cullen, will you be my girlfriend?” His lips tickled my ear as they formed the words.

This time, my lips were on his ear. “Definitely. You know, my entire future just disappeared.”

He laughed.

I stayed on his lap, and we talked until he had to leave.

I kissed his cheek. “Bye, Jacob,” I whispered into his ear.

“Bye, Alice,” he whispered back.

Edward walked into my room later, as I just lay on my bed. “You know, Alice, Jacob doesn’t regret it. The imprint, that is. Nor does… Jasper.”

Don’t say that name,” I snapped.

“Alice.”

“Yes?”

“I do know how you feel. I’m so angry at Jasper that you cannot believe it. But you need to forgive him. It’s not his fault.”

I took off my shoe and threw it at him. He stepped to one side, and it went through the wall.

“Alice. Esme is going to be pretty mad at you for that.”

“You know what Edward? I’m pretty dang mad at Jasper right now so just SHUT UP and LEAVE ME ALONE.”

Which is exactly what he did.

Carlisle came into my room later. I was still laying on my bed, staring at the ceiling.

“Alice.”

“Yes, Dad?” I asked.

“Edward is right, you know.”

I sighed. “I guess.”

“Jasper is out in the barn.”

“I didn’t say I would forgive him yet,” I replied.

He sighed. “Alice, you will forgive him, won’t you?”

“Maybe. Eventually.”

“Good.”

I continued to lay there, and I guess it was morning again, because Bella walked into my room. She sat down on my bed and said, “Alice, you’re like my sister, and it hurts to see you in this mood. Please just get up. Besides, Jacob’s here.”

That got my attention. I sat up. “Where is he? How long has he been here?” I asked.

“Downstairs, and he drove me here. We just got here,” she replied.

I jumped up and ran (vampire speed) downstairs. “Jacob!” I yelled, and jumped into his arms. Luckily, he caught me.

“Alice,” he breathed.

“What’s up?”

“Well, the pack has been updated, so you can come onto our land whenever you want.”

“Yay!” I said.

“Hey, I’ve got an idea! Why don’t you come over to my house?”

“Okay, works for me.”

We walked out to the front lawn, and got into his car. He drove us through Forks, past the boundary line, and to a small house. That was where he randomly drove the car onto the lawn and got out. Following suit, I got out, too. He walked up to the house and opened the door, yelling, “I’m home, Billy!”

A man who I thought I’d seen before wheeled himself into the front room, and, when he saw me, his eyes widened. “Son, why is there a Cullen in my house?” he said in a deadly quiet voice.

“Well, Dad, ya see…”

“Tell me son, and tell me now, before I call Sam and Old Quil.”

“Sam already knows… Dad, I, um, I imprinted on Alice.”

“What did you just say?” asked the old man.

“Dad, this is Alice,” Jacob said, motioning to me. “My girlfriend.”

“Jacob Black. You will leave this house and you will not come back until you get rid of that Cullen.”

“Dad…”

Billy just turned around and went to the kitchen.

Jake looked at me with pain in his eyes. “Alice, let’s go.”
