We flew to Spain and I looked up the name De La Rosa in the phone book. The De La Rosa family lived in Arboleas, in Almeria. We drove to the Arboleas and Rosalie asked the locals.

“Perdón, puede decirme donde podría encontrar Anika De La Rosa?” she asked an old woman.

“De La Rosa? Sí, ella vive en la casa de la colina. Que subir por carretera y gire a la izquierda. Hay una gran puerta delante de la casa,” the woman replied “se llama reptación Viña Villa”.

“Gracias. Adios”

“Okay, she said that she lives in the house at the top of the hill. We have to go up the road and turn right. It’s behind a big gate and it’s called Creeping Vine Villa,” Rosalie explained. I nodded, not bothering to add that I did in fact already speak Spanish. We drove up the path and reached the big gate. There was an intercom system and Rosalie buzzed.

“Cómo puedo ayudarle?” the tiny intercom voice asked.

“Hola, Soy Rosalie Hale. Este es mi marido y nuestros Emmett hermana Bella. ¿Podemos pasar? Es en relación con Anya De La Rosa” Rosalie said. There was no reply but the gate buzzed and opened. We got out the car and walked up to the front door. It opened and a tall tanned girl with long black braided hair hanging down her back. Her eyes were dark red.

“Soy Anika. Lo que le pasó a mi hermana?”

“Hay alguna posibilidad de que usted habla Inglés? Será más fácil de explicar, si puedo hablar Inglés. Y también no tengo que molestar a la traducción de los ignorantes humanos” she asked. I knew she was asking if Anika spoke English. She said it would be easier to explain and she wouldn’t have to translate for the ignorant human. Hmm. I think I’ll ignore that comment.

“Yes, of course” said Anika in rather accented English. Rosalie explained the situation in quiet vampire speak.

“Mierda!” exclaimed Anika. I think I’ll ignore that one too.

“No puedo creer que ella!” she yelled.

“Well she did. And we need your help to stop her” I said, giving Rosalie a look that told her I had understood everything she had said.

“Okay. All I have to do is see her and talk to her”

“And if that doesn’t work?”

“Well I could free them for you. But I cannot free his mind. A bond of true love can only free that one. You must confront her, and win”

“Okay” we piled into Rosalie’s car. She was on her cell phone to Esme in a second. Then she switched to a new phone, giving Emmett the old one.

“Necesito cuatro entradas para Port Angeles, Washington. Tan pronto como sea posible” oh; she was talking to the airline.

“When you say confront, what exactly can I do? I’m just a human! I can’t do anything useful” Anika opened her mouth to say something. Then the car braked suddenly.

My head flew forward, only to snap back. The glass exploded and the metal shrieked as I was bent into a contorted shape.
