I lay in Jacob’s arms in silence for almost an hour. Finally, I looked up at him. His expression looked like he was in deep thought. I studied the lines of his face, trying to figure it out on my own. His brows were relaxed. I took that as a good sign. His black eyes were staring straight up at the ceiling. He took his bottom lip in his mouth, chewing at it. I decided to just ask him.

“What are you thinking about?” I hadn’t spoken in a while, and my voice sounded small. He looked down at me and smiled.

“You.” He shifted a little bit to make it easier for me to look into his eyes. “I was thinking about the past four years, watching you grow up into this amazing woman.”

My heart skipped a beat as he said the word “woman.” He had never called me a woman before. In fact, no one had ever called me a woman. I smiled at the thought. He no longer thought of me as a child, and I couldn’t have been happier about that. I raised my hand to his face and let the memories of growing up with him flow through my mind. There was never a moment in our past where Jacob hadn’t made me happy. He had always been everything I needed him to be. He was my playmate when I was a toddler. He was my protector whenever I needed one. He was my best friend, always giving me a shoulder to cry on. He was now my boyfriend, something I had secretly been wanting from him for a little while. I wanted him to be lover, my husband, my future… my everything. His smile grew at that thought, showing his white teeth. I kept letting my mind wander. I thought of the future I wanted for us. I thought about my fantasy of us walking along First Beach with two little children. I thought of him picking up a little black-headed boy and guiding him through the air, like an airplane. I thought of him kissing a little bronze-haired girl goodnight on the forehead. I let out a content sigh.

“I want that too.” His voice was soft and warm. He leaned down and kissed me gently. When he started to lean back, I grabbed his face in my hands and held him there a few minutes longer. He leaned his head back on his pillow and gazed at me with adoring eyes. “I love you more than anything.” I could feel the smile break across my face.

“I love you too. I’m glad you waited for me.” He let out a chuckle.

“I didn’t really have a choice. The thought of not being with you is physically painful.” His brow creased when he said that, then his face settled again. “Besides, I never felt like I was waiting. I was just being what you needed me to be, making you happy. That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do since I first saw you.”

How on earth could my silly Jacob be saying things like this to me? I had never heard him talk this way. He was almost never serious. But right now, he was being so genuinely romantic. There was no hint of joking in his voice. He was telling the truth. I really was his everything. I could feel happy tears burning in my eyes. Jacob’s face scrunched with concern.

“What’s wrong?” He sat up and took my face in his hands. I smiled, assuring him that I wasn’t sad.

“You’re just so amazing.” I looked him straight in the eyes as I spoke the words. It felt like his black coals were endless. The corner of his mouth turned up in a crooked smile.

“You just now noticed? Damn, I’m going to have to work harder on my ‘being-amazing’ skills.” I rolled my eyes. I knew his serious mood couldn’t last for long. This was the Jacob I knew. He chuckled and met my lips with his again.

I let out a sigh of contentment as the electric shock went through my body. I let the feeling take me over as I kissed him back. A feeling of longing surged through me, and I did something that surprised even me. I shoved Jacob down on the bed and crushed my lips against his eagerly. Jacob let out a low moan of surprise and responded quickly. His hands, which were planted firmly on my hips, began to roam up my back, underneath my shirt. I ran my hands up the muscles of his chest to his shoulders and down his huge arms. I moved my lips to his neck and trailed kisses down to his chest. I could hear his breathing get heavier. I stopped and looked down at his bare chest, and then slowly let my eyes creep up to his. He was staring at me, still breathing heavily. His eyes were searching mine as if he were trying to find what I would do next. I knew then that he would always give me whatever I wanted, whatever I needed. I rolled over onto my back and pulled him on top of me, keeping eye contact the whole time. I looked down and admired his beautiful body again as I slid my hands down the russet skin of his chest. I looked up to see that his eyes were closed in contentment. I smiled as I let my hands slide lower until they reached the front of his shorts. As soon as I had them unbuttoned, Jacob’s hands had my wrists in an iron grip and his eyes were wide.

“No.” He was shaking his head. His rejection stung and I could feel my face twisting with pain. His face matched mine quickly. “Nessie, I don’t expect this from you. I want you to be ready.” I let out a sigh of relief. He wasn’t rejecting me.

“Jacob, I am ready. I know what I’m doing.” I leaned up and kissed his lips gently. He still had a look of doubt in his eyes.

“Are you sure?” I smiled.

“I’m positive.” I leaned in and whispered against his ear. “You’re all I want.” I placed my hand on his cheek, relaying to him my desires. His breath caught and he released my hands.

“Ok, you can’t do that to me the whole time.” I let out a giggle.

“All right. I won’t. I promise.” I kissed him again, passionately as I slowly unzipped his shorts. He moaned against my lips, and suddenly yanked my shirt over my head and threw it on the floor next to the bed. He kicked his shorts off and began trailing kisses down my neck. I let out a sigh. I felt him smile against my skin. He kissed down past my breasts and to the rim of my shorts. He looked up at me with a sexy grin. I could feel my face turn pink as I started to feel a little self-conscious, but I gave him a small smile to let him know that I was fine. He had the shorts off me in no time. He sat up, looking me over. I ran my hands through my hair awkwardly. I was still feeling a little self-conscious. I took a deep breath and suppressed the feeling. I pulled him down to my lips and kissed him gently. I let my hands glide down his back. I gasped. How had I not noticed that he was lying next to me, completely naked? He leaned up to look into my eyes. “What is it?” he asked.

“Nothing…” I let a smile creep across my face. “I just don’t think it’s fair that you’re wearing nothing, and I’m still lying here with my clothes on.” I didn’t expect his reaction.

He let out a low growl and quickly discarded my remaining clothing, nearly ripping my bra in two. Damn. That was my favorite bra. I thought. The next second he was clouding my thoughts with kisses. He kissed me everywhere, and it felt incredible. He reached my lips and stopped, staring deep into my eyes. I understood. He was making sure I still wanted this. I pulled him toward my lips and kissed him gently, willing him to continue. I could think of nothing but him and how complete he made me feel. He made love to me gently for the first time. It was everything I had hoped it would be.

“I love you, Renesmee.” He said as he lie down next to me, pulling me back into his arms.

I smiled. “I love you too.” I put my hand gently against his arm, showing him all the scenes we had shared together earlier. I drifted to sleep sending him my dreams through my touch.
