Hidden Feelings

“Bella” I whispered. She smiled.

“Don’t do this,” I whispered.

“Please. For me”

“Please” she rolled onto the balls of her feet.

“No, Bella!” I yelled. She spun around and saw me. She stumbled back slightly and fell.

“No!” I yelled and jumped after her. I grabbed her and we plummeted. She only had seconds left. If she was going to die, then damn it, I was going to do something I had wanted to do for ages. I kissed her, right on her mouth. She was stunned. I pulled away.

“Breathe in!” I yelled. She inhaled a split second before we entered the water. She struggled, trying to escape from the water. No! I thought. You will not have her! I let go of her arms and secured my arms around her waist. I kicked up. She was still struggling slightly. It would be easier if she stopped. I knew she didn’t have much oxygen left and her feelings were panicky. My head broke the surface and a moment later, hers did to.

“Breathe!” I shouted. She looked at me blankly. I rolled my eyes and started to drag her to the beach. She started to struggle again as the current got rougher.

“Stop that!” I yelled.

“Why should I?” she yelled back. She was angry for some reason.

“It’ll be easier for me to save you when you’re not struggling! And if you don‘t I may just leave you here!” I shouted again. She stopped momentarily but a rough wave hit her and she started again. I said a word so rude, she stopped struggling and I managed to drag her to the shore.

“I have to get out of here!” I gasped. If I was discovered then I would start the war.

“My trucks round the corner. I’ll just tell Jacob that I’m going home and I’ll meet you there,” she said. Before I could stop her, she ran over to a little house. I listened.

“What did you do?!”

“I jumped off the cliff,” she said calmly. Then “calm down Jake”

“I have to go to the hospital; Harry Clearwater’s had a heart attack”

“I’m going home”

“Will you be alright?”

“Yes. Just go! You’re needed there!” I ran to her truck and hid while the boy I had seen before came out with Bella. He kissed her forehead and she brushed him off. Then she headed over to her truck. She looked put out that I had taken the drivers seat and she scowled at me. I didn‘t care. I was just so relieved that she was alive.

“Now” I said as we reached the border “would you mind telling me, why you jumped off a cliff? Have you become suicidal?”

“No. I was cliff diving. I was bored. Or rather, I would have gone cliff-diving if you hadn’t appeared” she said it regretfully like there was nothing she’d rather be doing, then throwing herself into stormy water.

“Next time I won’t save you then” I said. She sighed. I wondered what was going through her head at the moment. What could have possessed her to jump off the cliff? I thought she had been healing. Was her life that bad?

“Can I ask you something?” I expected the worst.

“Sure”

“Why are you here?”

“Alice told me what you were planning to do. I was nearby so I headed over. But Alice will be at your house soon, she didn’t know where I was” she was silent for a minute.

“You say you were nearby, where you spying on me?”

“No” I said to quickly. She rolled her eyes. I thought she had finished and I had escaped from questions I didn’t want to answer.

“Jasper?”

“Yes?”

“Why the hell did you kiss me?”

“Do you have a boyfriend now? Mike Newton was pretty keen when we left” she glared at me.

“Tell me!” she ordered.

“Err…kiss of life?”

“I could still breathe" she said scathingly.

“Fine, I thought you were going to die. Can you please drop it?”

“So you decided to randomly kiss me?”

“Yes. Now, drop it!” I nearly yelled. Her eyes widened and her breathing and heart rate sped up. Great, I had frightened her.

“Bella. I’ll tell you something if you promise not to say one word to Alice. Promise?” she nodded.

“That night when we left I told the people hunting for you where to find you. I’ve been watching out for you for about a month. Because, I love you. I’ve loved you ever since I first saw you. I know you love Edward but I love you as well” there, I said it. She looked stunned.
