Hidden Feelings

What if Edward wasn't the only one who loved Bella? What if someone hid their feelings for her. What if they stopped her jumping? What if they were taken?

Ok, this is twilight and new moon combined. From the point of view of Jasper.

14. Volterra

“Jasper. How could you?”

“I’m sorry Alice. I love you. I always will. I just…love Bella too” she looked so hurt. Then she froze, a vision coming to her head.

“I understand. For now anyway, this conversation can wait. Edward is going to Italy!” I froze. Italy, the Volturi.

“He thinks Bella is dead. He’s going to ask them to kill him. No matter what is going on between you two, he still shouldn’t kill himself” I felt guilty.

“Let’s go” Bella nodded. She understood, somehow. Alice nodded and we headed out to the car. She drove quickly to the airport. We boarded. Bella sat by the window with me next to her. Alice glared at us.

“Jasper. When you see Edward, please try and keep your thoughts under control?” Alice asked, “We need to calm him down, and get him home now. You can break up with him later” the last remark was directed at Bella. Alice was right. She knew, but Edward was more emotional. He’d get angry and demand to be killed. Bella and I would have to stay secretive. For now at least.

The plane landed in Italy. Alice went out and stole a canary yellow Porsche. Bella rolled her eyes and I agreed. It was very conspicuous. We sped down the highway and reached the tall walls of Volterra.

“He’s going to walk out in daylight. In the main square!” Alice exclaimed.

“How long do we have?”

“Until noon. Bella, you have to make him see you. Then he’ll stop!”

“And don’t say a word about you and Jasper”

“Alice. I’m sorry,” Bella said.

“I don’t blame you Bella. You don’t seem to be able to stop yourself,” she said. She shot a glance at me.

“No Jasper. Just don’t go there. We’ll have this discussion when Edward is safe”

“I still don’t get it!” said Bella.

“He doesn’t care about me! Why would he decide to get himself killed because I’m dead?”

“Bella. He still cares about you, why would you think differently?” Alice said.

“He told her he didn’t care about her. That he didn’t love her,” I added. Alice hissed.

“That idiot! That total idiot!” she yelled. Alice was scary when she was angry. I would pay for my feelings later. At least I wouldn’t have to tell her. Bella had the hard job. There were red flags hanging from Volterra.

“Ha! Its saint Marcus’s day!” said Alice. This was worse; he would be taken down quicker. Alice was focusing. We sped past the guard signaling the direction of cars and reached another one.

“I’m sorry. Only tour buses allowed in today”

“It’s a private tour” she stuck her hand out the window, holding a wad of bills.

“Is this a joke?”

“Only if you think it’s funny”

“I’m in a wee bit of a hurry,” she hinted. He nodded and waved us in. We reached the main square.

“Bella, just run. Find him, just run” Alice instructed. Bella jumped out of the car and ran across the square. I could just see Edward in an alley, waiting. Bella ran, propelling herself into him. Alice parked in the shade and we found a shaded path towards Bella and Edward. I had to remember to keep my thoughts disguised. When we reached them, two hulking figures were leaning over them.

“Let’s behave ourselves, shall we?” Alice said, “There are ladies present” she walked over to Edward’s side.

“We’re not alone,” she said, pointing at a family who were watching us.

“Please Edward, let’s be reasonable”

“Let’s. And we’ll leave quietly now, with no one the wiser”

“At least let us discuss this more privately”

“No” said Edward. Felix smiled.

“Enough” said another voice. Jane. Not good.

“Jane” Edward sighed.

“Follow Me,” she said. We did reluctantly.
