Hidden Feelings

What if Edward wasn't the only one who loved Bella? What if someone hid their feelings for her. What if they stopped her jumping? What if they were taken?

Ok, this is twilight and new moon combined. From the point of view of Jasper.

9. My Love

“Emmett, Rose, get Jasper out” Carlisle ordered. Emmett dragged me out of the glass doors, me fighting all the way. Outside in the fresh air, my head cleared. But Emmett didn’t release me until we were in the forest.

“Jasper? Are you going to be okay?” he asked. I nodded, preoccupied. My mind was filled with images. My lips on Bella’s throat, her hot sweet blood in my mouth. Bella, pale, on the floor. My eyes burning red with her blood. Bella in Edward’s arms, broken, pale, lifeless. No, Bella in my arms, me, my eyes still fresh from her blood, bent over her. Edward snarling at me. Another one, Bella alive. Still pale, still cold. Her eyes bright red. If I had got to her, would Edward have been able to stop me? Would he have tried, knowing that she would be condemned like the rest of us? I growled in frustration. My love for Bella was overridden by my predator instincts.

“Jasper?” said Edward, appearing beside a tree.

“I’m so sorry Edward!” I said.

“It’s okay. Carlisle is stitching her up” I had a hunch there was something he wasn’t mentioning. He went back to the house and in a minute I heard Bella’s truck driving off. I was free to speculate. I had been trying to contain my imagination. If Edward had seen what I had, thought when he wasn’t around, he would have booted me out of the house. But that wasn’t the only reason. I loved Alice, she was my soul mate. But I still couldn’t get over Bella. I just sat. Emmett and Rosalie went back inside. Eventually I did too. Alice looked sad about something. I was going to ask her but she didn’t seem to be in the mood to talk. I waited.

Edward reappeared in the morning and Alice sprung at him.

“I’m not leaving,” she said simply.

“What?” he asked

“I’m. Not. Leaving!”

“Alice, please?” he begged.

“NO! Listen to me Edward Cullen. I refuse to leave! Bella is my best friend and this is going to hurt her. I’m not leaving!”

“YES! YOU ARE!” he yelled.

“We’re leaving?” Carlisle said.

“Yes, we can’t stay here any longer. I want Bella to have a normal life. We would have had to leave soon anyway”

“Okay, Edward. Are you sure?”

“Yes. You lot leave first. I’ll explain to Bella”

“Why don’t we leave today? You think about it and if you feel the same way in two days time, you can come after us”

“Okay” I could tell from his and Alice’s expressions, he wasn’t going to change his mind. He walked off, going to school. Alice looked so hurt. I wanted to ask her, exactly what would happen to Bella but I didn’t want to upset her further. I decided to go for a run.

The others were leaving when I came back.

“Do you mind if I hang around for a bit? If Edward goes through with this, he may need support,” I said. They agreed. Alice would be in tears if she could. I waited. The deadline appeared. I went over to the forest by Bella’s house. Edward was outside the house, and as I watched, Bella pulled up.

“Come for a walk with me” he said. They walked slightly into the woods, me shadowing their every move.

“Okay, let’s talk” I could feel her fear.

“Bella, we’re leaving” she felt slightly relieved.

“Why now? Another year-”

“Bella, it’s time. How much longer could we stay in Forks, after all? Carlisle can barely pass for thirty, and he’s claiming thirty-three now. We’d have to start over soon regardless” the fear was back. Along with confusion.

“When you say we-,”

“I mean my family and myself” she shook her head, as though trying to clear it. He sighed.

“Okay, I’ll come with you” she said after a few minutes.

“You can’t, Bella. Where we’re going…It’s not the right place for you”

“Where you are is the right place for me”

“I’m no good for you, Bella”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” it sounded like she was begging, “you’re the very best part of my life”

“My world is not for you,” he said.

“What happened with Jasper-that was nothing, Edward. Nothing!”

“You’re right. It was exactly what was to be expected”

“You promised! In Phoenix, you promised that you would stay-”

“As long as that was best for you” he interrupted her.

“No! This is about my soul, isn’t it?” she was furious at him, but it sounded like a plea. “Carlisle told me about that, and I don’t care, Edward. I don’t care! You can have my soul. I don’t want it without you-it’s your already!” he took a deep breath. He was going to hurt her, I could tell.

“Bella, I don’t want you to come with me” he said it slowly, for maximum pain. She paused.

“You…don’t…want me?” she was in immense pain; it was hard not to cry out in pain.

“No” She stared at him. I knew that in a minute she would be in hysterics. I sent calm around her.

“Well, that changes things”

“Of course, I’ll always love you…in a way. But what happened the other night made me realize that it’s time for a change. Because I’m…tired of pretending to be something I’m not, Bella. I am not human. I’ve let this go on much too long and I’m sorry for that”

“Don’t,” she whispered, “don’t do this”

“You’re not good for me, Bella” she opened her mouth and closed it again. His face was blank and I was too concentrated on Bella’s emotions to feel his.

“If…that’s what you want” he nodded.

“I would like to ask one favor, though, if that’s not too much”

“Don’t do anything reckless or stupid. Do you understand?” She nodded.

“I will,” she whispered.

“And I’ll make you a promised in return” I could bear to watch anymore. I blocked my ears and closed my eyes.

“Wait!” this cry broke through my ears.

“Take care of you,” he whispered. I watched as he ran. He circled round and was behind me.

“Jasper, are you coming?”

“In a while. I‘m going hunting” I said. I followed Bella’s scent. She stumbled on, before falling and lying still. After a few hours, voices called her name. She didn’t move.

It began to rain and the voices started again. I leapt down and came into view of a tall man. He growled when he saw me.

“She’s over there. We’re leaving,” I said. The man nodded once and ran off in the direction I had pointed. That was the last thing I could do for the girl I loved.

“Goodbye…Bella. Goodbye, my love” I whispered.
