A Life Long Wait For a Hospital Stay
Set after Eclipse, with the only exception being Bella's vampire-ness. Stella Harrison is checking into the Forks Hospital with a deteriorating heart condition. Dr. Carlisle Cullen has been assigned to her case. As their friendship grows, and she dies a little more everyday, Carlisle must decide between changing her or leaving her. All pairings are the same, so no Stella-on-Carlisle action.

Stella giggled as Nurse Tori sat by her bedside. It was three am, pitch black out, and Nurse Tori was working the night shift.
"Did you ever see the video where h-" Nurse Tori started before her pager started beeping. "Fuck. Carlisle."
"Carlisle?" Stella asked. "Who's that? Your boyfriend?"
"I wish." Nurse Tori muttered. "No, that's Dr. Cullen."
"His first name is Carlisle?" Stella asked humorously.
Nurse Tori nodded. "I call him Carlizzle. Sometimes Dr. Van Cullen."
Nurse Tori giggled. "There was this show on TV, like, five or six years ago called Fastlane, and Dr. Cullen looks like a blonde version of the character Van."
"Oh." Stella said with a tiny giggle.
"I'll be back." Nurse Tori said with a hand on Stella's arm. "Gotta go see what the hell Carlisle wants."
"Tori." Dr. Cullen said. "Were you with Stella?"
"Yeah." Nurse Tori breathed out. "She thinks we're fucking. What do you want?"
"I just wanted to know if you knew how she was doing." he said. "Just a last check before I go home for the night."
"She's fine." Nurse Tori blinked.
"Great." he smiled and Nurse Tori was glad she had conquered her ability to be affected by his dazzling powers. "See you tomorrow."
"Okay then." Nurse Tori sighed as she walked off.
"What is it?"
"What do you see, sweetie?"
Alice raised her head from her hands. "You know, I could think better if you'd all stop fucking pestering me."
Her husband and siblings seemed to mechanically back away from her.
"Carlisle will be here in 35 seconds." Alice whispered. "I'll talk to him then."
Six of Cullen family members sat in silence only to be broken by Esme's "Hey honey." twenty seconds later.
"Alice sees something." Edward said urgently. "A new-comer."
"Where?" Carlisle asked. "Where are they coming from?"
"The hospital." Edward answered. "Alice is only seeing chunks, but she sees you changing someone in the next few months."
"I'm not seeing chunks, Edward." Alice snapped. "I'm only seeing green eyes turning to red. It could just mean someone needs some contact solution."
"Carlisle?" Esme asked with a hand on her husband's shoulder. "Is there anything we should know about?"
Carlisle sighed. "Just a patient."
The clan knew to leave it be.
A week later, Nurse Tori came in to change Stella's IV. She found five shirts and two bras on the drip that connected from her arm to the machine.
"What is this?" she asked as Stella happily ate noodles.
"I couldn't figure out how to get it off in the shower." she admitted. "So I just pulled the shirts off and left them there."
Nurse Tori sighed with a smile. "Would you like me to take these to the laundry for you?" she asked as she pulled the clothes off the drip, then reattached it.
Nurse Tori went to stuffing the clothes into a laundry bag that hung by the bathroom.
"Nurse Tori." Stella started. "I had a dream last night that I was a vampire. And, like, I was killing deer and I had bright red eyes. And, I was a sexy beast."
"Talk to Dr. Cullen." Nurse Tori explained. "Vivid dreams could be a side affect of the medication."
"No, this one wasn't as vivid as the one I had where I was Daphne from Scooby-Doo." Stella laughed. "But, yeah, I'll talk to him, because I also have to pee all the time, too."
If Nurse Tori would've stepped outside ten seconds before she did, she would've found Dr. Cullen beating his head against a wall.
