Desperate

Summary:
I know there's a few of those stories where either Jacob or Leah imprint on someone in another pack but this is different. What if imprinting doesn't always grant happiness and love? The night Leah Clearwater imprinted she was desperate to be rid of her love for Sam. Her imprint's name is Nick and he's a werewolf from another pack in the east. He's dealing with a pain that may be just as great as hers. She's dedicated to her imprint and he to her but neither of them feel the love that's supposed to come with imprinting. Sometimes even imprinting can't cure a broken heart. Can they fall in love the normal way? On top of all of this the soul mate and imprint of one of Leah's pack brothers is killed by a fellow werewolf. The pain and guilt is tearing her pack apart. Somehow it all keeps getting worse from there. Is there really such thing as happily ever after? Or is life just agony and sadness? So I decided I loved this banner best! It was made by my lovely beta Delenda!

Notes:
I know what you're thinking... 'WHAT she's writing ANOTHER story even though she's in the middle of two!' Well... I'm stuck, in both of my stories. So I started this one! I was just listening to Desperate by David Archuleta and I started to think about Leah. So this story popped into my head and I wrote it down. And I do not own the Twilight series obviously. I know there's a disclaimer at the bottom of this site but I like to be safe and put it in here anyways. Enjoy!

Chapter 6: Lost Control

(Leah’s POV)

“Sam who’s dying? Whose imprint is dying?!?”

“I don’t know! I just know you need to call the Cullens!” His voice shook.

“What?” I asked incredulously, great time to be stupid Leah!

“That’s what’s so scary. I don’t know.” He said, he spoke as if it were Emily dying. My mind shook. So this was it.

“I thought you said that Embry called you!” I tried to keep my voice down but it was difficult.

“All he got out was ‘Sam you’ve got to hurry! She’s dying!’ Then the line went a little fuzzy like he was starting to go out of service or something. I only caught a few more broken sentences. They were something like ‘Imprint… attacked… near Leah’s house… get Cullens’ or something like that. Then he yelled something about stupidity and guilt to someone else. He sounded really disgusted with them. After that the line went dead.” His voice broke, as if his heart broke. I nearly dropped the phone with shock. Renesmee.

The phone really fell this time. Nick was watching me sadly.

“You heard it all?” I asked, clearly still in shock.

He nodded, and I hurriedly bent down to pick up the phone, and call the Cullens. The phone rang for gosh knows how long before someone answered. Esme. I could recognize her voice instantly. The mother of the “family”.

“Hello? It's Leah. Listen Sam gave you permission to come on the grounds. Embry said that someone’s imprint was dying, and that’s basically all I got. You need to hurry, and come as fast as you can.” The words were like a blur to me, but I knew she understood. She gave a small thanks and then the line was dead. I could only assume they were on their way.

“Come one, we have to go.”

I yanked my shirt off, and struggled out of my pants. I didn’t even care that Nick was right there. He understood, and we both phased. I led. I knew what to expect, plus I was the only one who knew the way around La Push.

We reached the scene of the attack in minutes. There was blood everywhere, and it reeked of leech. It was definitely Renesmee now. I knew it, her smell was everywhere. There was someone else too though.

The bloody smell was disgustingly thick and heavy, hanging in the air, choking me. It was much too strong. It was the horrible scent of the dying. I took in the gruesome scene with mind numbing horror. What had happened?

(Nessie’s POV)

I sat on the floor with Daddy, doing a thousand piece puzzle. He was doing half and I the other. Of course he had already finished and was watching me with amusement.

“Renesmee!” My mother sang out. Mom was pretty much the only one who didn’t call me “Nessie”. I didn’t understand why she was so against it, I mean it was just a name after all, but I had a faint, blurred memory of her screaming that Jacob had nicknamed me after the Loch Ness Monster only about three days after I was born. I laughed, thinking how protective she was of me.

“Yes Mommy?” Even though I had the knowledge and maturity of an adult, I couldn’t help but call me parents the “baby” names.

She danced into the room smiling. She always exaggerated her smooth reflexes every once in a while even though we were all as agile as her. Emmett said it was because Bella was a huge klutz as a human and still loved showing off how much that had changed.

“How would you like to spend the day with Kim and Clair?” she asked, smiled down at me, and picking me up.

“Yay!” I squealed, clapping my hands.

Kim and Clair were my friends. So were Emily and Rachel. Most of the werewolves seemed to find me creepy though and didn’t want anything to do with me. Jacob of course didn’t give a hoot, and neither did Quil or Seth, but even Sam and Embry gave me awkward looks sometimes. I knew it was because I was a half vampire who was only one and half years old and yet appeared around six or seven, with to much knowledge for someone my age. All of their imprints reacted differently, well actually quite the opposite. They loved me.

I didn’t visit La Push often. In fact, I’d only been once. My paranoid, but loving, parents insisted that I always be in their sight. I was only a toddler, no, a baby in their eyes. I guess with age, came freedom.

“They’re on their way now. You’re going to La Push today while I go out hunting with your dad.” Mom informed me with only the slightest hint of a frown.

I smiled happily. I loved La Push, especially the beach. The rolling waves crashing against the shore entranced me. It was stunning.

When they arrived I was waiting expectantly by the door. I was wearing one of the hundreds of outfits Aunt Alice had bought me and Aunt Rosalie had pulled my hair back into a fancy little hair-do. I was out the door and running before Kim was even out of the car.

“Hey there Nessie!” She said in her soft voice, laughing as I hugged her.

“Kim! I’m so excited to come!” I giggled.

She picked me up and opened the door of her car. I was set in a car seat next to Clair’s. Not that I would need a car seat. I may not have been quite as strong as a vampire but it still took a lot to bang me up. I learned that when I fell down the stairs. I’d hit my head a few time pretty hard going down but barely felt a thing.

“Where are we going today?” I asked excitedly.

“We’ll probably be walking in the forest a little first. I wanted to show you both a pretty little pond I found. After that we can go down to the beach.” Kim replied cheerfully.

“Ok!” I said enthusiastically.

I turned in my seat and giggled with Clair until we pulled up at the edge of the forest, near Leah Clearwater’s home where a trail was distinctly visible. Everybody loved me playing with Clair. They said she brought out the little kid I really was. I quickly undid my seatbelts, and helped Clair out of hers. Kim opened the door and we both hopped out, scampering off towards the trail as soon as our feet hit the ground.

We skipped happily around as Kim pointed out the names of certain plants. Clair gave her ‘oohhs’ and 'ahhhs’ but I paid close attention and repeated the names in a whisper to myself. My favorites to learn were the tiny flowers.

Our little group was about half a mile in the forest when Kim told us it was only a little ways until we there. It was then someone stepped out of the tangle of tree’s and onto the trail. A huge Indian boy looked exasperated, and annoyed, all at the same time. He blinked in surprise when he saw me. I wondered what he had expected to see.

“Sorry if I scared you. We just got really nervous when we smelled a whiff of le… vampire.” Embry stuttered over the last word.

“It’s alright it’s only Nessie.” Kim said sounding a bit disapproving.

“Did you find the leech Embry?” another voice yelled out as the boy flew out of the trees.

“False alarm Paul,” Embry told him, “It was just… Nessie.” He seemed hesitant to say my name for some reason.

“What?” Paul wheeled around to see us standing there. His eyes seemed to bug out. “What is she doing here?” he gasped.

“She’s Jacob’s imprint she has every right.” Kim snapped.

Paul was shaking.

“Dude you’ve calmed down a lot since meeting Rachel. Your anger problems are almost gone. Don’t blow it now.” Embry said putting a hand on his shoulder.

Paul wasn’t listening. His dark eyes were focused on me. A growl ripped from his throat and Clair clung to Kim’s legs with a whimper. It was dead silent for two seconds. Then Paul lunged. I knew I couldn’t get away fast enough. I tensed my body and prepared for the impact while Kim and Embry stood frozen with shock.
