I decided to hunt. I called Alice and asked her to watch Bella for me.
"Sorry Edward! I have something else to do," she said before disappearing. I scowled. Bella stretched and stood up.
"Well, this has been fun but I need something to eat"
"Bella, I am not letting you kill a human"
"I'll go with you into the forest," she said, reluctantly. I smiled and I led her out of the house.
"Edward, will you ever let me go?"
"No. I'm never going to give up on you Bella. If you ran, I'd follow. Forever" she sighed.
"Edward, I just can't. I'm like you know which was all I ever wanted but since I got turned, I've thought about nothing but dieing!" she said.
"I understand Bella. Since I thought you were dead, I've thought about nothing but killing myself too" she burst out laughing.
"You nut! I wasn't talking about killing myself! I've just been thinking about how if you hadn't been dead, how'd I'd kill you!"
"Oh" she stopped laughing at the tone of my voice.
"I don't mean it Edward. But I've hated you for so long, it's hard to change" she wrapped her arm around me.
"Is this another test?"
"Does it feel like a test?" she asked.
"No, but the last one didn't either" I said.
"Edward. Please...let me go," she said,
"Why? What do I need to do to convince you that I love you?"
"I'm convinced about that. I'm not convinced that I love you though. Not anymore" she whispered sadly.
"How long did it take?"
"At first I didn't believe it. I clung to any knowledge that they were lying but when you never showed up again, I went to Forks. I saw your family, all sad. I didn't see you and your room had all it's furniture removed so I assumed...then I started to believe the lies I was told and my love turned to hate. I think it would probably take at least another hundred years to reverse that"
"Bella, we have forever!"
"I know, but I need to be alone for a bit. Give me some time please?"
"No" I growled.
"Edward. If you ever want me to love you again, I need time," she said, her tone sharper then before.
"I can't do that Bella!" I shouted.
"I don't care! I'm not asking, I'm telling!" she shouted back at me.
"I will not lose you again!" I snarled.
"You already lost me Edward! You lost me the day you left me for dead!" I stopped growling and stared at Bella.
"Bella...never...ever...say...something...like...that...again" I pinched the bridge of my nose to try to calm myself down.
"Why? It's true and if you can't handle it, you shouldn't have done it! So what if I was dead? You were going to kill James to keep me safe. Yet you just took his word automatically that I was dead! I can't believe you!"
"BELLA I REGRETTED THAT DECISION FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE! I SPENT MY DAYS LOCKED IN MY BEDROOM, MOURNING YOU! SO DON'T YOU DARE COME AND TELL ME THAT I LOST YOU BECAUSE I KNOW THAT! AND NOW I GOT YOU BACK, I'M NEVER LETTING YOU GO! AND YOU ARE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO DAMN WELL PUT UP WITH IT!" As I roared at her, she just gazed at me, unimpressed and the first flickers of doubt came into my head.
