“Must love dogs”

The next day dawned and I found myself very excited. I knew that Seth would be here to see me soon my vision had shown us just after sunrise together. I got out of the bed moving very carefully not to wake Sam. She needed a lot more sleep than I did. I stretched and went to the closet and found that all the clothes that Alice had bought were put away in there and I was sure that the dresser was also full. I allowed my fingers to trail along the long line of hung up clothes. There wasn’t really anything there that I thought would be appropriate for just a day of hanging around the house and it seemed like Alice had disposed of all my old clothes. I went to the dresser and found a t-shirt that said out of my mind… be back in five minutes and

a pair of my old jean which made me happy. I liked my holey jeans and t-shirts. I went to the bathroom and raked a brush threw my hair pulling it into a lazy ponytail. I looked at myself in the mirror and shrugged that was the best it was going to get. So I walked out of my room.

Down stairs the whole family was in the front room. They all smiled at me Bella had the largest smile.

“I hear you have a boyfriend already.” Bella said

“I guess” I shrugged

“No she has an angry shewolf that wants to talk to her.” Jake said as he walked in the door.

“Huh?” I said

“Leah wants to meet you.” Jake responded

“Oh”

“Follow me please.” Jake said

I followed him out of the house and standing there was a pretty Indian woman. She looked angry and she was glaring at me, her arms crossed across her chest.

“Is this her?” Leah asked Jake “I guess one half bloodsucker wasn’t enough for this group.” she said acidly

“Nice to meet you too.” I shrugged “I’m Tabby cat”

“Great not only half bloodsucker but she makes herself a cat as well.” she huffed disgruntled

“Hey what’s with the hostilities I thought that you all were friends with the Cullen’s?” I asked

“Ha!” Was all her response was

“Leah respects the alliance but she doesn’t think of them as friends.” Jake said “Very few of my pack feel comfortable with a friendship. Leah’s brother is one of the few.”

“Nice to meet you even if you don’t like me.” I smiled sweetly at her.

“Your not good enough for him.” Leah said

“You don’t know me how would you know why are you so quick to judge?” I asked

She continued to glare at me. “I came I saw now can I get the hell out of here Jake?”

“Yeah go on.” Jake said

I turned and started walking the opposite direction of the way Leah took off. I walked a few feet into the woods on the other side of the house and slid down a tree trunk pulling my knees to my chest. This girl didn’t know me and she hated me anyway. How was I going to get through her prejudices? What if the rest of Seth’s pack responded this way to me. Perhaps I had made my decision to stay here far to quickly. My mind was racing a million miles a minute and I wasn’t paying any attention to my surroundings. When my eyes actually focused I saw Seth heading towards me he looked concerned.

I stood when he reached me and allowed him to take me back to the house. When we got into the front room I sunk down into the couch and looked out the glass wall.

“Are you ok.” Seth finally managed

“I’m just freaking perfect she hates me totally! How am I going to win over someone who hates half of who I am? No matter how utterly charming and irresistible I am she will never get over the fact that my father is a vampire and that no matter how little of it I do drink I still drink blood. I try my hardest to eat human food but that stuff is repulsive.” I was throwing my hands up yelling and then I slumped back into the couch again. “I can’t catch a brake! I never believed in love at first sight. Yet here it is and my luck deals me another blow. No Tabby you can’t be happy you have to deal with a shrewish shape shifter that is related to the object of your affection that you waited for, for who knows how long. Why does this crap always happen to me. Can’t I catch a frickin break!” I jumped back up off the couch and ran for the door. “I’ll make that shrew like me even if it’s the last thing I do!” I said as I headed out the door.

“It just might be.” Jake said after me

I had only made it a few steps past the front porch when I felt a warm hand grab my elbow stopping me. I spun around and found myself in Seth’s chest.

“I don’t think that is such a good idea sweet.” He said into my hair. “She’ll come around I just know she will.”

“I’m glad your so optimistic.”

“The whole pack is going to love you. Embry is already fond of you and Jake too. Nobody can resist you. I should know.” he said a happy smile on his face. “You should meet the whole pack we’ll make it a party. How does next weekend sound? Then you can unleash all your charm on my sister and I’ll bring my mom she wants to meet you.”

I thought about that was I really ready to play hostess to a pack of shape shifters? What if he was wrong and they were like Leah and hated me for what I was not the person I am. How could he be so positive that I could win this large group of wolves over? I shifted uncomfortably away from Seth looking at him in shock.

“I don’t know if I’m ready.” I took a deep breath to calm myself “But I will play hostess to a pack of hostile wolves if it will make you happy.

The week went by far to fast to suit me I spent most of my time watching the Food Network with Edward trying to make a menu for the party. He had so graciously offered to help after hearing my frantic thoughts. He also informed me that the eight pack members would eat as much as a small village would in three days. Of course Seth was by my side the whole time telling me that it would all be fine and being just generally annoyingly optimistic. But I didn’t want to be optimistic I wanted to fret and worry I knew that something was bound to go wrong things always did. And my visions were no help they didn’t show me anything that I wanted to see.

I was in the kitchen using the rarely used stove. The house was full of different smell of the multiple dishes that Edward and I were cooking. For a vampire he was a good cook which didn’t surprise me much.

“How the chief?” Seth said closely behind me I was so engrossed in what I was doing that I hadn’t heard him enter the kitchen.

“Disgruntled.” I said as I stirred the sauce for one of the dishes.

“Everything is going to be great. I promise.” Seth said happily

Sure as long as I stay across the entire field from your sister. I thought and of course that made Edward laugh.

“Did I miss something?” Seth asked

“Nothing at all just her thoughts.” Edward said

We finished the food and packed it up going to the place that the Volturi had come to try to destroy the family that I as now a part of. I had heard the story not only from the family but Nessie had showed me the entire thing. When we got there the entire pack was already there along with the rest of my family.

“Deep breaths Tabby.” I said under my breath to myself as we walked towards the bonfire that had been started in the middle of the field.

“It’s nice to be making a good memory in this field for a change.” Edward said “This is a happy occasion Tabby don’t worry. Most of their thoughts are happy and excited well all but one at least.”

“Thanks Edward.” I said and I moved a little closer to Seth.

The food didn’t last long and I made friends easily with Quil and the other younger members of the pack. I was avoiding Seth’s mother which he informed me her name was Sue and of course his sister.

“You know this gives a new meaning to throwing me to the wolves.” I whispered with a small chuckle into Seth’s ear

“Are you ready to meet my mother? She’s going to think your avoiding her if you put it off any longer.” Seth said

“It’s not her I’m avoiding your sister hasn’t left her side since we arrived. Another confrontation with your sister with a pack of wolves around isn’t a good idea I don’t want to make them hate me.” I said

Seth didn’t respond he just grabbed my hand and towed me over to his mother and sister.

“Mom this is Tabby” He said pulling me close to his side

Sue scrutinized me for a second and smile tightly. I knew that she was here for her son and she would never imagine saying anything about me to him. But I could see in her eyes that she didn’t approve of me in the least.

“Nice to meet you young lady.” That was all she had a chance to say to me because Leah opened her mouth to speak.

“If it’s not the evil succubus herself.” Leah said with a smirk at her joke.

I literally saw red my vision tinted and my body tensed. “I have just decided something you mutt. I don’t give a damn if you like me or not. What I do care about though is that you don’t ruin this for your brother this is very important to him and what’s important to him is also important to me. You can hate me all you want I could careless I’m not going anywhere. I won’t let your hate drive me away. I thought about leaving to make it easier for Seth but I think making you angry will be entertaining so I’ll stick around.”

“You did not just call me a mutt you stupid little leech!” Leah yelled and the entire party snapped to attention and everyone was quiet.

“Oh I think I did.” I said with a smirk “See your brother found it in him to love me and I love him more than anything and your not going to ruin anything but your night you loveless shrew.”

Leah’s body was shaking all over and I knew what that meant and I didn’t care. I wanted her to attach she had done what she set out to do she had made me angry and I wanted a fight. Leah didn’t scare me in the least.

“Why so upset dog? Did I hit a nerve?” I goaded

“You evil blood sucking bitch. You don’t know me I will rip you apart.” and that was it she was so angry she couldn’t change but she didn’t care she lunged at me and I was crouched down in a defensive stance. Quil and Embry caught her in mind lung and were pulling her away and I had my own group of people pulling me back. I knew that one was Seth the other hands were cold so I knew they belonged to someone in my family.

“Let me go! This isn’t over you… we will finish this I promise you that.” Leah was screaming and squirming to get out of Quil and Embry’s grasp.

“Oh please let her go boys.” I begged

“I’m so ready anytime you want to finish this mutt.” I hissed

“That’s enough both of you.” Jake barked “Leah stop” He said in an authoritarian voice.

Leah stopped squirming and glared first at Jake and then at me. All I could do was smile evilly. While I allowed Seth to pull me father away.

“Why did you goad her?” Edward asked me angrily

I let a small laugh slip out “Ummm… she made me mad.”

“Your girl has a temper and she picks a fight with a shape shift that could probably tare her apart.” Emmett laughed “Why does everyone but me get to fight with the shape shifters?”

Seth pulled me away from the group towards the fire that was now abandoned.

“Are you okay?” He asked me looking me over with worry in his eyes.

I took a deep breath and smiled big “I’m good. How are you?”

“I would be better if you didn’t try to give me a heart attack.”

“I didn’t go over there with that purpose I swear.”

“I know I felt you tense next to me. She started it no doubt but you didn’t have to reply to her so maliciously.”

“I’m sorry Seth, really I am” I said looking up at him remorsefully “Forgive me please”

His only answer was him pulling me to his chest. He held me there until I was completely composed. Then he put his finger under my jaw and brought my face up leaning down so that our eyes were on the same level. I think was just making sure I was calm enough to go back to the party but I wasn’t going to waste the opportunity. Like a cobra I struck putting my arms around his neck I pulled his face completely to mine and kissed him as hard as I could. What I wasn’t expecting was that he would respond to me as eagerly as he did. His lips moved enthusiastically over mine. He pulled me closer to him and I lost it all thought had left my mind. My lips parted and he slipped his tongue into my mouth. I pulled away a short time later breathing hard. And that’s when I heard the howling and cat calling.

“Go Seth!! That’s what I call a kiss.” Embry called from across the field and then everyone was looking at us and my face flooded red.

“Ha, there it is again I knew we would see a blush tonight.” Emmett said

I buried my face into Seth’s chest and I heard a happy chuckle come from him.

“Now you’ve gone and done it Embry. She’s never going to kiss me again.” I could hear the amusement in his voice. I really hoped that he didn’t believe that. That kiss was the single best kiss I had ever had in my entire life.

The party went on for several more hours and I actually started to get tired. So I sat on the ground next to the dieing fire. Seth had been talking to Edward but he excused himself and came to sit next to me. He pulled he into his half way into his lap.

“Are you tired sweet?” Seth asked

“A little I haven’t slept well all week.” I said through a yawn.

I laid my head in his lap to tired to care who saw our affection for one another. And I slipped easily into unconsciousness.
