You're Still Here!

Summary:
Somebody comes to Forks that Edward thought should have died a long time ago. How will this new arrival affect the Cullens' and Bella's life? I know it says no spoilers, but there actually are a few. DISCLAIMER: I do not own any of the Twilight characters!

Notes:
I just thought of this one day and decided it would be cool to write.

Bella’s P.O.V.

I turned onto Jacob’s street and suddenly got very very nervous. What if he did send me back? What if he told me he didn’t ever want to see me again? I didn’t think I could take that, especially not right now. Oh well, I had no other choice. I got out of the car and ran to the front door of the small, familiar, red house and knocked on the door. I waited a few seconds that seemed like minutes, then I banged again, this time harder. I really needed Jake right now. Finally I heard someone turning the knob, and then Jacob was standing in front of me, looking very surprised. Then after the shock wore off, there was a combination of hurt, annoyance, and anger.

“What are you doing here?” he asked me harshly.

“Hello to you, too, Jake,” I managed to get out without totally choking on the words. He was still mad at me. That much I was sure of. He was mad at me and would probably send me away when right now I really needed him to comfort me. How was I going to get through this?

He must have heard me choke, or seen the pain in my eyes, or maybe he just knew me really well. Whatever it was, it seemed to tune down the anger in Jake because his eyes suddenly turned soft.

“What’s wrong Bella?” he asked me.

“Nothing. I’m fine.”

“No you’re not. I know you enough to know that. Now what’s wrong?” he asked again.

What could I tell him without him accusing me of lying again? The truth was definitely out of the question. If I told him the truth, he would get angry again and go try to kill Edward. That much I was sure of. And if he did that a war would happen between the Cullens and the wolves. And… even though I didn’t want to admit it to myself… I knew that I wouldn’t be able to stand it if anything happened to Edward. Even though he hurt me, I wouldn’t be able to stand seeing him hurt. I knew that.

“I don’t really want to talk about it, Jake,” I decided o tell him. That wasn’t a lie, and hopefully he would honor my request and switch subjects.

“Okay,” he said unwillingly. “So what brings you down here?”

“I just needed to see you. It’s been a while,”

“Yeah, it has,” he agreed, seeming to think about something unpleasant. I had a pretty good idea of what it was about, but I didn’t allow myself to think about the last time we saw each other. That would just add to the pain I was feeling now, although with Jacob present, the pain wasn’t as great. He just seems to have a way in soothing my pain.

We stood there for a little while awkwardly for a few minutes until he finally spoke again. “So, do you want to go down to the beach?”

And so we headed to the beach.

Karen’s P.O.V.

We found Edward in the living room of the house. He was sitting on the couch, his head in his hands, rocking back and forth. Emmett was in front of him apologizing. Jasper was sitting next to him.

“I’m really sorry Edward. I didn’t know. She just looked so upset and helpless. If I had known I would have helped you explain, instead of allowing her to get away. I’m really sorry.”

“Hey, Edward, we know what to do. Edward,” Clara had gone over and sat down on the other side of him on the couch. “Edward, sit up will you? We know how you can go to explain.”

“I can’t. I don’t even know where she is. I ran to her house and she wasn’t there,” he told her.

“We know where she is, though. Edward, sit up,” Clara said to him.

“You do? Where is she?” Edward asked, finally sitting up and looking at Clara.

“La Push,” Alice said.

“What?” Edward asked.

“She went to La Push. She’s with Jacob Black,” she told him

“How do you know? You can’t see Jacob.”

“I can’t, but apparently Karen can,” Alice said, clearly still not happy with that idea.

“How does that work?” Jasper asked.

“I have no idea,” Alice told him.

“It doesn’t matter how it works. All that matters is that I know where she is,” Edward said. Then he seemed to think of something. “But we can’t go to La Push.”

“I know,” Alice said.

“But Clara said you have a plan,” Edward questioned.

“We do. We all go to the… boundary line place?… so that you and Sandra can explain to her what really happened,” I told him. I wasn’t sure what the boundary marking was called.

Edward seemed to think about the plan for a few seconds, then spoke. “No. Sandra shouldn’t come. That would make things worse. I need to go alone.”

“You‘re probably right.” Alice said after a few seconds of thought about that. “So you’re going to do it?”

“Yes. It’s the only choice I have. Thank you, Karen, for finding out where she is,” he said.

“No problem. It’s the least I can do.” I told him. Then I suddenly thought of something else. “Do you have a cell phone?”

“Yes. Why?”

“I can call to give you updates as to what is happening there if you’d like,” I told him.

“That’s a good idea. Please do,” he said. “I’d better go now.” And then, without another word, he hurried out the door.

“See? This is all going to work out just fine. I don’t know what you guys were so worried about, anyways,” Sandra told us.

“Like I said before- shut up Sandra!” I told her, then I went over to the couch and sat down in the spot that Edward was in, in between Clara and Jasper. As I was sitting down, I saw Clara pull out her phone and ask for Edward’s number. Then I closed my eyes and went into Bella’s past.

‘Bella and Jacob were on a beach. They were walking along, and Jacob was skipping rocks. Bella was saying something about someone named Quil. Jacob’s facial expression changed, and then he proceeded to tell her about how Quil had joined the pack.’

I came out of the vision to give everyone the update. When I looked around the living room, I was surprised to see that almost everyone was in a different place. Clara was still next to me, but now Jasper wasn’t on my other side. Sandra was. Jasper had joined Alice on the couch across from me, and Carlisle and Esme had come in.

“What happened?” Clara asked me. She held the phone in her hand and was dialing. I guess she hadn’t called Edward yet.

“They’re on a beach,” I said. “Someone named Quil joined the pack.”

“Great. One more werewolf to worry about,” Alice said. She must really hate those werewolves.

“‘Edward? Hey, this is Clara,’” Clara said into the phone. “‘So far Bella and-’ Who?” Clara asked to nobody in particular.

“Jacob,” Emmett answered.

“‘Bella and Jacob are on a beach, and Jacob told Bella that someone named Quil joined the pack… You’re welcome. I’ll call again soon. Bye,’” Clara said into the phone, then hung up. I went back into Bella’s past.

‘Now they were sitting on a tree trunk. They weren’t talking about the pack anymore. Now they were talking about… Edward. Jacob wanted to know why Bella liked Edward. Bella proceeded to tell him that you couldn’t explain love. Then Jake explained to her why he loved her.’ Whoa! Jacob loved Bella? I realized I really didn’t know anything about the situation we were in. Not the whole situation. I concentrated back in on them and- NO WAY! I came out of the vision to a whole room of people waiting to know what happened. A whole room of people I didn’t know if I could tell what had happened to.

“Okay, now what did you see?” Clara asked me, phone in hands, ready to dial the number as soon as I told her what to tell Edward.

“I really don’t think you want to know.”
