I had to stop because I was sobbing so hard from thinking that same thought over and over again. I don’t know how long I had been there until I felt a hand on my shoulder.
“Leave me alone. Just go away!” I was screaming at whoever touched me.
“Renesmee, right? I’m Demetri, and part of the Volturi guard. The Volturi are very interested in you. We would like to have you join us.”
“I don’t think so. My whole family has always told me that the Volturi were bad. So…no. I’m not coming with you.”
“Ha ha. Wrong answer, sweetheart.” He grabbed me and next thing I know I’m on his back and we’re going faster than I’ve ever been before.
The trees are zooming by my face faster than I care to see. For the first time in my life, I’m scared. Being half vampire and living with eight over protective ones and growing up with around twenty five werewolves, you don’t ever need to worry about your safety. Now I’m by myself and he’s much stronger than I am, and I don’t have much hope of surviving a fight, so I just hold on tight and hope we get there soon.
When I next opened my eyes, we were in a beautiful plaza. Demetri was leading me towards a dark alley. I was getting scared and my heart was beating faster. He looked back at me and smiled.
“Do you trust me?”
“No. Why should I? Where are we going?” I was getting really scared now.
“I told you I was taking you to the Volturi. The way there is down this alley and into a tunnel. Do you trust me?” He asked that last part slowly to make sure I understood.
“Yes. But keep in mind I’m not as weak as you might think. I’m part vampire and stronger than I should be. I almost have a full vampire’s strength. Don’t try to overpower me.” I warned.
“Don’t worry. If you put up a fight, we’ll just have Felix come and get you.” He smiled at me in a way that made me hate him even more.
The tunnel was dark and damp. I couldn’t see a thing so I grabbed Demetri’s hand and closed my eyes, and well, trusted him. I was thankful that he didn’t try to pull his hand out of my grip. We then stopped abruptly, but I still wouldn’t open my eyes.
“You can open your eyes. We’re here.” he said as he opened the door to reveal a beautiful, open spaced room. There was a pretty woman sitting at a desk.
“Hello. Welcome to Volterra.” she said.
“It’s okay, Gianna. She knows. This is Renesmee. Aro wants her for the Volturi.” The woman named Gianna just smiled and went back to her work.
“She’s human,” I hissed to Demetri. “Why is she here? Does she know?”
“Yes she knows, and when were done with her, we’ll either kill her or turn her.” He said it so calmly I thought he was joking, but then remembered the vampires I grew up with. They thought toying with humans was wrong. That is why my father didn’t want to have much to do with my mom when they first met.
I just sucked in a deep breath and we pressed onward. We came to another door and it opened with a loud creak. The sight in front of me took my breath away.
