Behind the Music

Bella's parents divorced when she was ten, and ever since she's thought it was either her fault, or they didn't care about her. Bella has been writing songs ever since the divorce. Now that bella's in high school, she's put a band to geather. She hides all her childhood pain and anger behind her lyrics. When she meets Edward will she fall for him? Will her see past her words? will everything work out in the end? Most of the songs/Poems in this story I have written my self or with the help of friends... but mostly me.

Bella's POV

“Bella honey, We're going to be late!”

Mommy called up to me. We've been doing this for the past few days: Mommy takes me to see daddy at Grandma's house while she goes to work. Last week mommy and daddy got into a big fight and grandma came and took me to her house until mommy came and got me. But when we got home, daddy was gone. Later mommy told me daddy was going to be living at grandmas house for a while.

Mommy told me this was how it was gonna be, until school starts. Or until daddy gets a new job, then I'd be with grandma all day.

Mommy came up to see what was taking so long. “Oh, you always have problems tying you're shoes, don't you baby?” I just nodded.

She looked at me. “Baby, it won't always be this way, Things will work out. I promise.” I nodded and smiled at her.

But I didn't believe her.

It was a long drive to grandma's house, Mommy said 45 minutes. Something was stuck in my head though, so I asked mommy for a pen and some paper. She passed back a shiny blue pen and a note pad. I started writing the words that were in my head.

In my world sunshine and smiles are no more

In my world they kicked rainbows out the door

Fairy Tales, and Fantasy never will exist

Because of you, and what you did

And of how it all ended

You were never in love with daddy

Cause when you were together you were never happy

Why did it come to be this way?

Is it all gonna end this way?

But something tells me no one'll ever be happy

At the end of every day

Mommy please don't look away,

Daddy please won't you stay?

Please don't let it end this way

I don't wanna cry every day

But Fairy Tales and Fantasy

Are no more...

The words just stopped. Like a well running dry, or like our car coming to a stop. Because it did. We had gotten to Grandmas house sooner then I thought.

Grandma met us at the door, and said daddy was still sleeping. I saw mommy roll her eyes. She told Grandma she'd pick me up around 5:45. I waved at mommy until I couldn't see her car anymore. As soon as Grandma took me into the house, Daddy was up making coffee in the kitchen.

“Good morning Kitten,” That was daddy's nick-name name for me. Baby was mommy's, Birdie was Grandma's, and Grandpa's was Cookie. I had a lot of names.

“Today, I'm going to go look for a new job. You don't mind spending the day with grandpa and grandma, do you?”

I shook my head.

“Don't you talk anymore? I haven't heard you say anything in days.”

I just shrugged. Daddy sighed.

Daddy went into the other room with grandma following. I could hear them whispering, they thought I wouldn't hear.

They were always talking about me. I didn't bother listening. I was used to it.

Grandpa came in from the garage, “AH! It seems we have company! Dose our 'Cookie' want a cookie?”

I grinned and ran across the kitchen. He put a giant chocolate chip cookie in my two little waiting hands. He always kept a stash hidden from Grandma, just for me and him. He poured two tall glasses of milk and carried them over to the kitchen table.

When Daddy and Grandma came in I wasn't even half done with it, but grandpa was more then half done!

“Oh my goodness..” Grandma said rolling her eyes.

Daddy just laughed and said “Well, at least you're smiling!” He kissed my head and then he left.

After I was done with my cookie Grandma got out her piano book and started teaching me little bits here and there. But I soon that I found that I liked it.

Later that day Grandma had to go to a 'ladies circle' at the church. So grandpa got down his old guitar and started playing and singing, just like he always does, but today I started singing along.

Grandpa and I realized that I had an amazing voice. He even made me show grandma and daddy! And when mommy came to pick me up, he made me show her too. Mommy and daddy scowled at each other almost the whole time.

That night I lay in my bed, playing the day through again. I realized that what I wrote was true;

You were never in love with daddy

Cause when you were together you were never happy...”

Those word's ran through my head the rest of the night.
