3. Chapter 3 Chinese food, fun and crying

Rating 5/5   Word Count 1009   Review this Chapter

“Umm... Orange chicken and.... Egg noddles.”

“And I'll have the Moo-Shoo Special.”

Orange chicken was always my favorite Chinese food. Before my mom got all mopey, we used to go out to eat all the time. And every time it was the same--Chinese.

“So, who was Veronica going to see? I mean, the closest someone would have to go would be Seattle.”

“Some band thats home town is Seattle... Some goth band. She practicality drools over the lead singer, Seth. A real creep show if you ask me.”

“Yeah, I guess I'm a creep show too huh?”

“No! No, you can easily get away with it, the whole..” He moved his arms up and down. “Gothic-Emo-Punk-look. To be frank, he goes over bored with it, A thousand piercings in each ear and some in his cheek, lips, and eye brows. Black from head to toe, fake fangs, the whole shebang. A make believe vampyre wanna-be.”

“Hmm...” I looked around at my surrounding's: A kid trying to get out of his high chair, two people staring at each other like there was no one else but them in the world...

I sighed. I wish some one would look at me like that.. and not Vic. OK, Vic was nice and all. But I didn't like him that way. But he just couldn't see that. I sighed again.

We ate in silence for a while. But then, all of the sudden, without a warning, the rest of the band came in. Laughing and punching each others arms, acting like a bunch of goons, if ya ask me.

One word summed it all up. Drunk.

They were at the bar again.. I'll tell you this--fake ID'S got you in just about anywhere around here.

Vincent and Lucian were always going out, getting drunk, and acting like fools. But I was used to it. After a few times, it got pretty old.

“Well lookie who we have here!” Vincent slurred. “I didn't know yous guy's were together.”

I scowled, and hit him upside the head.

“Shut up Vince, You know damn well we're not. Luce, get him out of here.”

Lucian wasn't as drunk as Vince. I looked at him sideways. He looked... mostly bored, I guess.

“Sure, sure Bells.” He put an arm around Vince. “Come on dude, lets get you home.”

Lucian nodded to us as he left.

Vic looked at me weird. He knew this look. “You wanna go now ,don't you?” I hesitated, “Will Veronica be back yet?” He thought over a few seconds. “Naw, mom said she had to be home early. She always comes home at the time she says she will.”

I nodded then. We waited for the waiter to come back with the check, then we left.

His red '89 Deuce Coupe could practically take flight if he got it fast enough, but we only did that on back roads. But luck was with me tonight...

“So, high road or low road?” He asked with a grin. We stared at each other grinning, then at the same moment, we both screamed “LOW ROAD!!!”

He took a sharp left turn that sent up flying down a narrow back road that only ATV'S use. I flipped through the radio till I found a rock station. Our all time favorite song (besides ours) was playing;

Lie To Me, by 12 Stones.

We both started singing along:

A candle burns away
The ashes full of lies
I gave my soul to you
You cut me from behind

Nowhere to run and nowhere to hide
You're scared of the truth, I'm tired of the lies
Cause who I am
Is where you want to be

Don't act like an angel
You've fallen again
You're no superhero
I've found in the end

So lie to me once again
And tell me everything will be alright
Lie to me once again
And ask yourself before we say good bye
Well good bye
Was it worth it in the end?

You said you were there for me
You wouldn't let me fall
All the times I shared with you
Were you even there at all?

Nowhere to run and nowhere to hide
You're scared of the truth, I'm tired of the lies
Cause who I am
Is where you want to be

Don't act like an angel
You've fallen again
You're no superhero
I've found in the end

So lie to me once again
And tell me everything will be alright
Lie to me once again
And ask yourself before we say good bye
Well good bye
Was it worth it in the end?

Why'd you have to up and run away
A million miles away
I want to close my eyes and make believe
That I never found you

Just when I put my guard away
It's the same old story
You left me broken and betrayed
It's the same old story

Don't act like an angel
You've fallen again
You're no superhero
I've found in the end

So lie to me once again
And tell me everything will be alright
Lie to me once again
And ask yourself before we say good bye
Well good bye
Was it worth it in the end?

Lie to me once again
It's the same old story
Lie to me once again
It's the same old story

Was it worth it in the end?

It was a perfect ending. We pulled up to the house right as the song ended.

We laughed and hit high fives. The car was covered in green-red mud, which made us laugh again.

Our laughing stopped short when we reached the porch.

Veronica was sitting on the steps with her head in her hands, by the way her shoulders were shaking I could tell she was crying.

“Veronica!” I said as I sat down next to her and put my arm around her quaking shoulders. “Ronnie, whats wrong? Why are you crying?”

She looked up and me with red eyes and a tear stained face. “It's Nicole,” she sniffed. “Shes missing!”

She flung her self in my lap. My eyes widened.

What had happened to her at the concert?
