“Hi I’m Marissa! You must be new here.” The freshman had spotted us the moment we got out of the car and was drilling us with questions like, “Do you guys like it here? Does the rain brother you? What’s your favorite subject?” She was basically talking to Sammi so I ignored her chatter as we walked to our first hour.
Sammi seemed more confident having already made a friend. I waved goodbye to her as Dan and I turned down the path that lead to building 3. I had ELA first period and so did Dan. It was reassuring knowing that I wouldn’t have to walk in alone. As we entered the room everyone turned and stared. I took and deep breath and hid behind my brother. Dan turned and rolled his eyes at me.
We walked to the front of the room and handed our sheets (Which we had picked up in the office building) to the teacher to be signed. He asked us a few questions before he assigned us seats. I sat next to a blonde girl who told me her name was Amanda. She smiled nicely at me and didn’t ask me any questions. I was glad of that. Dan however was sitting next to a girl who wouldn’t shut it. Amanda told me her name was Jessica. I couldn’t help but giggle at the pained looks Dan sent me through-out the hour.
At the end of the class Dan was out of the room faster then a blink. I laughed. Poor Dan. I met him outside and asked him what class he had next.
He looked at his sheet. “I have History next”
I looked at my own paper and frowned “I have Trig.”
“I have Trig second hour too!” A voice sounded from behind me. I turned to see Jessica. She had obviously been eaves dropping on our conversation. “I show you the way if you’d like.”
I shot Dan a desperate look but he was already on his way to history. I was stuck with Jessica. I tried to pay attention as she gossiped on our way to Trig. This class was my least favorite. I gave my sheet to my teacher to be signed and walked to my seat in the back of the room. I sat next to a boy named Mike in this class. He extremely friendly and commented on the whole lesson.
The rest of the day passed slowly. I was relived when lunch came. Anything to escape from the school to be with my family. I met Sammi and Dan outside the Cafeteria. Marissa was there too and so was Amanda from my ELA class, who had apparently befriended Dan. When we entered the Cafeteria Mike and Jessica immediately beckoned for us to come sit with them.
“How was your day so far?” Sammi asked me as we settled down at the table.
“Slow, and yours?” I prompted
“Its nice, everyone has been welcoming to me. I’ve made a few friends already.” She seemed enthused enough and as long as she was happy I was happy.
I looked around the Cafeteria. Most people we’re busy talking or laughing. Some people her franticly doing homework that was obliviously due next period. A few kids had even gotten up and we’re chasing each other around the room.
My eyes finally stopped at a group of teens who didn’t seem to be doing anything at all. They weren’t talking, eating, working, nothing. They all just sat there and they didn’t even seem to meet each other’s gazes. I frowned and looked closer to discover that they we’re all unbelievably gorgeous.
“Who are they?” I asked Jessica.
Jessica followed my stare. She giggled “That’s the Cullen-Hale family. They moved down here from a Alaska a few years ago.”
“Alaska?” I gaped in disbelief.
She nodded. “They live with Mr. Cullen, who’s a doctor at the hospital. They’re all adopted. I guess that’s why they keep to themselves.”
I blinked. “They’re all very-”
“Hot!” Marissa cut into our conversation. She giggled.
“What are their names?”
“Well the little short haired girl is Alice.” Marissa replied “The blonde chick is Rosalie.” She made a face and as she said Rosalie’s name. “The really hot muscular guy is Emmett and the blonde haired boy is Jasper.”
“What about him?” I asked and pointed at the bronze haired boy who name hadn’t been mentioned.
Jessica sighed dramatically “That’s Edward. He’s amazing of course, but don’t ask him out, he doesn’t date.”
“Neither does Emmett” Marissa muttered to herself.
I laughed half-heartedly. “I wasn’t planning on it.”
When I looked back over at the Cullens, Edward was staring at me.
