"Bella, you can't go through with this AGAIN."

"You don't make choices for me Jacob. I can do this if I want."

I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out, At least her heart was beating again. I listened to the thump-thump hadn't heard in a long time.

"Also Jacob... Don't go up to the cottage tonight. You know what Edward and I need to do before..."

"Too much information Bells! I get that you and Edward need to 'get it on'."

She narrowed her eyes at me and swiftly turned to the door.

"Jake!" Renesmee came running towards me. “Can we go out for a milkshake and some burgers or something and talk about this?”

I sighed, agreed, and went to the garage to get my keys.

“Hey Ed.” I said, seeing him polishing the top of his Volvo.

“Jacob…”

“You want to talk? Just guessing…”He smiled and tossed my keys to me.

“You’re going to the diner, right?”

“Ness, I never agreed to THIS.”

“Come on. We need to talk.”

“I’m worried about Bella, Jacob.”

“Cut the crap Edward. We just want to talk about the baby. Not being worried.”

Nessie glared at me and tapped my arm.“Stop it! I’m worried about her too. She’s my mother.” She snapped

“So I’ve been told” I laughed and seated myself in a booth.

A waitress with curly black hair and an overload on make up waltzed over. Edward sniggered a little, probably because he was reading her thoughts.

“May I help you?” She asked. She had a thick country accent.

“I’ll have a burger, double cheese, with everything on it” I said, chuckling to myself about her wacky up-do.

“Strawberry milkshake for me, thank you.” Nessie said, placing her menu in the woman’s hands and easing back into her seat.

“Nothing for me, thanks.” Edward said. He had a sour look on his face. Probably the human food. Or me.

About 15 minutes later, the waitress came back with our food.

I took a huge chunk of my burger and watched Renesmee quietly drink her milkshake, exchanging nervous glances with Edward.

Alice skipped into the diner. She was carrying a bag of baby clothes and sat down beside Nessie. She was excited and full of energy, as usual.

“I can’t believe it! Another bundle of joy! Wow!” she squealed with joy.

I sighed and ate another bite of my burger.

“Boy or Girl? What do you think Edward? How about you Jake? I bet you’re excited Nessie!” she said smiling ear-to-ear. She looked like an excited child on Christmas morning.

I groaned. Edward joined me.

I slumped back in my seat and picked up my phone.“Hey Bells.”

“Jake, can you hand the phone over to Edward?”

I sighed. “Of course.”I tossed the phone to Edward, jabbing a bit of cheese in my mouth and sipping the diet Coke Alice had just ordered me.

Alice gasped. “Bella’s already pregnant? That’s great!” She said.

My heart skipped a beat. “Wow. For how long?”

“Actually,” Edward mumbled, snapping the phone shut, “She only has about a week left before she has the baby”

Everyone’s jaws dropped a little. There was a long bit of silence, until Edward grabbed his keys and slid out of the booth. We all followed him.

I arrived at the Cullen house several minutes later, and saw Bella on the couch, just as the previous time. She smiled and looked down.I sat down by the couch and sighed, looking up at her.

“Bells; are you sure you want to go through with this? Your luck was good last time, but what if it’s reversed this time?”

“I’m not worried, Jake.”

"You should be.”

“Cut is Jake. It’s over, we’re done with the worrying charade. Let me enjoy my time being human again,”

“So drinking blood is human?”

“Shut up Jake.”

I rolled my eyes and got up, joining Edward on the second white couch. He wrinkled his nose.

“Oh come on Ed, I don’t smell that bad.”

“It’s like the smell increased. I can barely stand it.”

“Ouch!” Bella yelled, clutching her rib cage.

“Carlisle, Bella’s got a broken rib” I called to him; I knew he was some where in the house. He was here in less than a second, and finished in less than five.

I heard the door slowly open and Leah emerged.

“Bella! I heard a new baby is on the way!” She hugged her and then sat next to me.

“How is she?” Leah whispered in my ear.

“Fine.” I whispered back.

She was wearing a navy blue sweater and jeans, her hair falling back loosely on her shoulders. She fidgeted a little, then slowly walked over and sat by Bella.

“Can I stay the night, Bella?” She asked looking up at her.Esme waltzed in the room, carrying a basket of cookies.

"Sure Leah. Cookie?”

Ever since Sue died, Esme was like Leah’s second mother. It had been 16 years, and Leah nearly considered Esme her mother.

“No thanks Esme. I’m good.”

“Anything to drink?”

“Raspberry iced tea please.”

I sighed and walked into Carlisle’s study.

“Carlisle?”

“Hello, Jacob.”

“Um… So how are the test on Bella going?”

“Good Jacob. But you must not tell Bella what I am going to state to you.”

“Promise. You have my full trust, Dr. Cullen”

“There are some unusual waves in the baby; it seems to be perhaps, a werewolf.”

“Werewolf? Like me?”

“Yes Jacob. I think it was caused by being around wolves so much, it must have an effect on the baby.” He said, and then slowly walked up to me.I tried to speak, but no words came to mind.

“I would watch your step Jacob. The twists in the path might not lead to what you expect.”

I didn’t know what to say, or what he meant. I just nodded and walked towards the door.

“And Jacob…”

“What?”

“Werewolves are dangerous inside a previous vampire’s body. I would enjoy your time with Bella.”

The thought of what he said hit me harder than any other thought I had heard.
