When we got to the beach sprinkled with people, Jake parked the car onto some grass not too far away from his friends. He put the car in park, but didn’t turn off the engine.

“Alicia?” Jake whispered.

“Yes,” I whispered back.

“I know you are beating yourself up about this,” at that I was going to interrupt him, but he stopped me with his hand. “I just want you to know that I will be here for you,” he continued. “If you ever want to talk about it, we’ll talk.”

I nervously looked up into his dark eyes. He was staring intently at my face waiting for my answer.

For the second time that day I flung my gangly body into his defined one. “I know I’m acting like a little crybaby,” I explained through heavy breathes. “But he touched me in places I’ve only wanted one person to touch. He kissed me when I’ve only wanted one person to kiss me.” I lifted my face from his chest and nervously poured my heart out to him.

“I know that we’ve only known each other for barely a week, but I can’t explain what I’m feeling. I only want to be touched by you, and only kissed by you.” I gave an audible swallow and continued.

“I don’t know what’s happening to me, or how I turned into a hormone crazed teenager, but I do know one thing.” I paused letting my words affect Jacob, to see what he was going to do. He just sat there, looking at me attentively.

“All I know, about you and me is that-” I took a deep breath and gave him the key to my heart, “is that, I love you…”

Jake’s face broke out into the biggest Cheshire cat grin I’ve ever seen.

He cupped my face with his large hand and slowly inched my face towards his. Once our noses were touching he told me:

“Alicia, I don’t think you will ever be able to comprehend how much I love you.” He gave me a warm kiss on my freckled cheek.

The only thoughts catapulting through my head was: He likes me, omigod, LOVES ME!!!!! Don’t screw this up Alicia!!

But I believe the correct words that came out of my mouth was:

He chuckled a little. “You are like oxygen to me Alicia,” he sighed.

Our mouths found each other in perfect harmony, my hands entwining themselves in his hair, his arms encircling my waist.

His burning tongue explored my mouth, my tentative tongue doing the same to his.

We broke apart breathing heavily. “Mmmmhhh, Jake.” I moaned.

“I think we should really stop,” he said hoarsely, I pouted. He seemed ready to nix that idea, but I stopped him.

“I suppose we should go down to the beach.” I said glumly.

“We don’t have to if you don’t want-” I interrupted him.

“No, no. It’s okay, let’s go.” I separated myself from him and lumbered out of the truck. I went to the other side of the vehicle to meet up with Jacob.

“I can’t wait to teach you how to swim!” he said excitedly. He grasped my hand and led me down to the beach. Shoot! I had completely forgotten about swimming.

“Yeah,” I lied. “I can’t wait to learn how to float in really deep water where fishes live.”

Jacob just smiled and we made our way to where his pack was sitting around a big fire and laughing and swimming in the ocean.
