Notes:
I know, i'm so evil. I left everyone on a total cliffie at the end of the last story. But, i think i'm entitled considering that only two people reviewed. they reviewed more then once but still, two people! That really is pathetic! I need more reviews to fuel my creativity. If i don't on this story i will stop on a cliffie and not update any more.

I closed my eyes and moved my head so my throat was on show. Then I sliced, quickly and deeply across it. I gasped as the cut stung. The blood trickled from it and there was a sudden tension on the beach. I smiled. This was what I'd wanted. Then everyone moved at once. All the vampires swarmed, trying to get to me and my fresh blood. However, there were so many of them they couldn't do anything. I jumped to my feet and slashed at Demetri with the knife. He lost his balance, confused by the people, the blood and with no resistance to my blade. I jumped onto him and ripped him to shreds with my teeth.

"Embry! Lighter!" I shouted. The silver lighter flicked through the air and landed in my palm. I flicked it open and watched the flame twist in the breeze. I dropped it onto the scraps of marble skin that were piled on the sand. The flames instantly attached themselves to the scraps. I stood up, phased and bent my head. My cut had healed up and the vampires on my side had stopped trying to attack me. The vampires either had surrendered or had been destroyed. Alec came to my side as I fainted.

"Cadyna! Are you okay?" I nodded as he lifted me up.

"There's just so much blood!" I whispered.

"You did well. Now, you need to rest" Holly and Jo rushed over and hugged me.

"Hey wolf girl. How was vampire meat?" I asked Holly.

"Chewy" she said. We laughed.

"TRAITORS!" shouted a voice. We turned. Jan was standing nearby. She pulled a knife from her pocked and ran at us. Holly managed to dodge and Jo pulled me out of the way. But the knife ripped straight into her. I growled with rage, phased and leapt on Jane. She'd had her chance. She burnt me with her power but I carried on tearing at her. Alec pulled me off.

"Jo needs you now!" he said. We knelt beside her. She was barely alive but just clinging on. I scanned the beach.

"We have to save her!" I gasped. She was a good friend, made in a short amount of time. That made me realize I'd be her friend forever. But only if she survived.

"Holly...can't you?"

"I'm human! I can't do it until the next full moon!"

"I can," said Alec "She saved your life. I'll save hers"

"No. I have better control," said Jasper.

Since when? I thought but Edward silenced me with a look. He bit Jo's throat. Then each wrist and finally each ankle. I watched as my friend started to thrash from the burning venom. I shuddered as she screamed. I needed to distract myself.

"How many were lost?" I asked.

"35" said Edward "We didn't need to lose that many but when a mate died, the other partner lunged into the battle without thinking. We lost Carmen and Eleazer. Tanya, all three of the amazons. Stefan and Vladimir died the way they wanted, fighting the Volturi" he chuckled.

"Peter and Charlotte died," said jasper, morosely.

"I'm sorry Jasper," I said, placing an arm around his shoulder.

"A whole coven was decimated, bar one. The West coven. They were friends of ours," said Carlisle.

"Not friends exactly" muttered Edward. I made a mental note to ask him about that.

"Lucas and Callie. They were killed. And Callie was so young" said Gabriel. He came to Holly's side and said "Rafe needs you right now. Can't you forget your differences and let him pass through into the next world easily?" holly nodded and I noticed her face was tear-stained. Nessie and Nahuel were sitting nearby. All his sisters had been killed. Holly turned to me and muttered, "I'll be right back"

Holly's Point of view

I left the cluster of survivors not mourning for lost relatives or friends. I weaved over the sand, avoiding all smoking piles. I reached the spot where Rafe lay.

"Rafe. Can you hear me?" he made no movement and I wondered if I'd been too late.

"I'm sorry. I've hated you for so long and I never actually got to know you properly. That...that seems somewhat stupid now. I just want you to know...I forgive you for what you did to me. It wasn't really your fault, just the animal inside you. I'm sorry" I bent and kissed him gently. Then I stood up.

"Holly? Can you move? You're standing on my hand" I recognized the voice. I screamed and leapt away. Rafe stood up and stretched.

"What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost," he laughed. I promptly started hitting everything I could reach.

"I'm sorry Holly" he wrapped an arm round me and for the first time ever, I didn't pull away. I belonged with him.
