Well, this is my take on what would've happened the night of prom. What if Edward did change her right then and there? Would he be able to do it? Would Bella panic, and change her mind? Create your own banner at mybannermaker.com!

I was wondering what she might be thinking of.

“Well….I assumed it was some kind of occasion. But I didn’t think it would be some trite human thing…prom!” she scoffed.

Human? I knew where this conversation was heading to. Bella wanted more than anything to be one of my kind. But I just can’t let that happen. I wish, I mean I would love it for her to be a vampire, but who am I to take her life away.

“Human?” I asked flatly.

She looked down, fidgeting with a stray piece of chiffon. I waited patiently for her to regain the strength to continue.

“Okay” she rushed the word out of her precious lips. “So I was hoping that you might have changed your mind…that you were going to change me, after all.”

Change her. Sigh. I just wish she’d understand my reasoning.

“You thought that would be a black tie occasion, did you?” I said teasingly. I could tell she was embarrassed.

“I don’t know how these things work. To me, at least, it seems more rational than prom does.” She said with a bit of impatient tone.

I grinned. “It’s not funny”

“No, you’re right, it’s not,” I agreed with her, letting my smile fade. “I’d rather treat it like a joke, though, than believe you’re serious.”

“But I am serious” she pouted.

I sighed deeply. “I know. And you’re really that willing?” She bit her lip and nodded.

“So ready for this to be the end,” I murmured in a low voice meant for my ears only. “for this to be the twilight of your life, though your life has barely started. You’re ready to give up everything”

“It’s not the end, it’s the beginning,” she said under her breath.

“I’m not worth it,” I said in a voice to make her guilty. I didn’t want to be selfish. Why should I be the one she throws her life away for?

“Do you remember when you told me that I didn’t see myself very clearly?” she asked me while raising one of her perfectly arched eyebrows. “You obviously have the same blindness.”

“I know what I am” Sigh. I examined my Bella’s face. My perfect human Bella. She really wants this and I want to make my Bella happy. This will make her happy.

“You’re ready now, then?” I asked blankly.

“Um.” She gulped and allowed blood to rush to her face. This I was surely going to miss “Yes?”

I smiled at her. Slowly I brushed my lips against her skin just near the corner of her jaw working my way down to her neck. “Right now?” I whispered, breathing my cool breath on her neck. It made her shiver and it quickened her heart. Another thing I would miss.

“Yes” she spoke as she cringed. I took one last look at her, and flashed her my set of perfectly white razor-sharped teeth.

Well, here goes nothing. I took a slow, long breath and began to sink my teeth into her neck. Yet, as soon as they reached her skin, she pulled away.

I growled. Not meaning to of course. She winced.

“Sorry, but you stopped the temptation so abruptly.” I said as I regained composure.

“No, no, no don’t go apologizing, it’s my fault. I had a last minute idea.” She breathed the words out quickly. “I thought,” she hesistated. “That maybe we should wait, I mean I have a proposistion for you.”

“Go on” My mind was ecstatic. This meant more human moments from her.

“Well, I kinda want one last thing to experience as a human. And it’s nothing sheepish as prom or graduation,” she looked down. “I was kinda wondering if, maybe, we could you know….make love” Her cheeks flushed red as I gazed in wonderment.

“Well, well…the human cares for her human notions after all.” I half smiled. “Bella, I don’t know if I can….risk that with you” I said blankly.

“Ugh. Edward stop it. Risk it, be the monster you claim yourself to be. But be it in a more, promising way. I believe in you, no matter what you are still Edward Anthony Masen Cullen! I believe and know you are perfect, too perfect to allow one slip up with me. So I know it will be find.” She said with a beautiful tone.

“Tonight” I promised.

“Really. Tonight? Edward you are the BEST! However did I deserve you” she said overexcitedly.

“Yes, my love in turn all I ask is your hand in marriage. The day you say I do, the night I change you, making you mine forever.” Such a selfish thing to say.

“Forever.” She agreed. And I lifted her to my car and proceeded to our meadow.
