I woke up, having hardly been able to sleep the night before. It was dawn and my first instinct was to go and take a walk. This used to be my favorite time for that, but I knew I shouldn't, for one it was dangerous, and secondly I was going to wait for Edward. He never told me what time of day he would be back, so I wouldn't leave my room until then.

I mostly stared at the ceiling, still in my night gown. I memorized the pictures that were painted there, until I decided that I would try and look decent for Edward's return. Why he loves me, I will never know. I am so plain next to his true beauty. Of course he would never see himself like that, that's what made him beautiful on the inside.

I put on a more casual dress, though none of them were really casual. At least this one didn't have any gold in it. As I ran a brush through my hair for probably the hundredth time I heard Edward's velvety voice calling me.

"Bella?" He was back.

"Edward!" I tried not to sound too excited, but ended up sounding like it anyway.

I half ran back to the main bedroom, which was probably larger than the Black's whole section of the castle, and ran into his stone-like body.

"Don't hurt yourself, Bella." He laughed.

"I'm sorry. I just missed you so much." I took in his intoxicating scent as he wrapped his arms tighter around me.

"I missed you too, love." His kissed the top of my head tenderly. "Did anything happen while I was gone?" He pulled back, keeping just my hand, which I was totally fine with.

"Not much," I looked at his butterscotch eyes, very much lighter than usual, "I talked, and ate."

"I did that too, but I want to know what you talked about, and who you talked to." He brushed his index finger across my skin. He knew I was hiding something; I was always a terrible liar. First my cheeks would turn red and then I would make up a lame excuse to cover it up, like talking and eating.

"I talked to Jacob Black." I didn't want to tell him about what though, and I was glad I didn't because his features turned bitter, and he looked away from me, letting go of my hand entirely.

"I ran into him while I was walking around, and he told me...Well, you can probably hear his thoughts."

"Yes. But I wish I couldn't." He glanced back down at me again, taking both my hands in a pleading gesture. "He doesn't know what true love is. He hurt you, Bella, I would never do that. If you chose him I wouldn't try and make you feel guilty, and if anything he's dangerous to you. He could turn into a dog at any moment."

"Sorry. I mean werewolf." He smiled at me apologetically, knowing I had a friendship with Jacob.

"How could he turn into one at any moment?" He hadn't when I was with him.

"Werewolves, especially new ones, turn when their angry. You can tell because they start to shake. Bella, I don't want him to erupt when he's near you, it would cause you pain, and I can't stand to see you in pain." He stood even closer to me, our faces only a couple of inches apart. Yet again his breath made my head swim. I couldn't deny him when he was dazzling me like this. I would do anything he told me at this point.

"What did you say again?" I tried thinking back.

"I don't want you to be around Jacob. It's too dangerous for you, my fragile little human." He smiled crookedly, but this time it wouldn't affect me.

"I can't really do that to him, Edward. He's my friend, and I don't want him to feel hurt that I'm just ignoring him."

"Bella, he loves you. It would be even worse the day of our wedding." Now that I thought of it, I was engaged. How odd, I never really wanted to marry because I couldn't think of anyone I would really be able to love, but if it meant I would spend an eternity with Edward, it was well worth it.

"I see your point, but I think it would hurt him even worse when I..." I let him finish the rest on his own. His face became distorted with sudden anger, not directed towards me, but to me becoming a "monster".

"Bella, I don't want to take away your soul, I thought we talked about this already."

"Yes, we did, but I don't really want to die knowing that you never will. If you love me as much as I love you that wouldn't be the best way to spend your time."

"Bella, you don't know how much I love you, and that's why I don't want to change you." I could hear the pain echoing in his words, but it would hurt me if he rejected me like that. That was what it felt like. Rejection.

"Edward, I'll make you a deal. If you change me, I'll get married to you your way, and on your time. For all I care it could be tomorrow, but I need to spend an eternity with you. There is no other option."

"I really think you'd be getting the worse end of the deal, even though my side isn't that great either. I think the one person that would want to be in charge of our wedding is Alice. But if you're that determined, I don't see how I could turn you down." I became elated and comforted; I would have forever with Edward.

"Thank you."

"Oh, Bella." He laughed and wrapped his arms around my fragile frame, kissing the top of my head. We stayed in this position for an immeasurable moment. I couldn't tell if it had been a few seconds or several minutes, but I was comfortable and with Edward. That is until he pulled back.

He pulled me over toward my bed and we both sat down, watching each other the whole time.

"I think I'm going to take you to meet my family."

"You mean everyone? Including Alice and Rosalie?"

"Yes, they've become a part of our family." I took a deep breath in and out.

"Are you scared?" He looked like he wanted me to say yes, but he didn't need his will power.

"Of course. I mean, what if they don't approve of me? I'm pretty sure they wouldn't like me."

"So you aren't worried just to be with several vampires in an enclosed area?" He looked at me trying to decipher something.

"You amaze me Bella Swan." I laughed.

"There isn't much to be amazed about."

"Please, Bella. Have some confidence. You're beautiful, and courageous. Not to mention selfless. There are so many things I can say about you."

"Where did you pull all of those from? They don't sound anything like me."

"You really don't see yourself clearly." He seemed disappointed.

"Well, neither are you. You think of yourself as a monster, but look at the way you hunt, and the way you treat others. You're a clear gentleman and I love you because you're so kind." Also because of his intoxicating smile and unbelievable soul, whether he believed he had one or not.

"It's still daylight outside," He changed the subject, "Would you like to go to our meadow again?"

"As wonderful as that sounds, my father hasn't seen me all day, so I might have to go see him first. Let him know I still exist."

"Or you could also introduce me to him. That could leave a good impression."

"I told him that he would meet you at the ball where I announce our engagement." I didn't want Charlie to meet him. I wasn't afraid that Edward would be hurt once my father sent the guards after him, which he would do with every man that came to call, but that they would find out he was in indestructible vampire when they tried to slash his throat.

"Then I'll meet you back up here." He scooted me out of the room.
