I spent the rest of the day doing stuff with Alice. I met Edward’s fiancée Bella and chatted with Beth. I also found out about how Mick and her were there.

“Well, I met this woman at a party she was throwing. I was musician. Afterwards, we went for a swim and I was hooked. No offence Beth. But you know how it was” Mick said.

“Yes. I do know” Beth said.

“I broke away, I kept coming back. She was like a drug. We got married and on our wedding night, she turned me. I ran away. I started to work as a private investigator and I got a case about a missing child. I followed her trail and it led straight to my ex-wife, Coraline, and the child. Beth when she was four. So I ended up having to kill Coraline, or I thought I’d killed her. I kept watch over Beth after that. We met up again when she was twenty seven. Then a woman named Morgan Vincent turned up and she was a spitting image of Coraline. I found out it was her eventually, but she wasn’t a vampire. She used to live in France and they invented a compound during the rein of terror (which was actually a vampire genocide) to temporarily mask the signs of vampirism. So Beth found out who it was, stabbed her with a stake and punctured her left lung. She turned back into a vampire, ran away from the hospital and her ancient brother turned up and took her back to France. Beth’s boyfriend was killed and we started dating. Then when the vampires took over the world, I turned her. So, that’s about it” he finished. I smiled. It was nice to know something.

“My brother was turned a month after he met your mother. By Aro. They didn’t know about you then” Beth added. There was a knock at the door.

“Come in!” Beth called. The door opened and Josef came in.

“Hello Beth, Mick…Katherine” I got up and brushed past him.

“Bye Beth, Mick. I’m going to meet up with Alice,” I said before leaving.

“Err…I’ve forgotten what I came in for” said Josef before starting after me.

“Katherine! Wait, Katherine!” I didn’t stop but called over my shoulder.

“Why should I? Murderer” I muttered the last word. He was in front of me suddenly.

“What did you say?” he asked.

“You heard me. Or has your super vampire hearing turned itself off?” I said sarcastically. He seized my arm and dragged me into a room.

“What are you doing? Let go of me!” I protested loudly.

“Let me speak! Please!” I shrugged off his hand.

“I don’t want to talk with you! Leave me alone!”

“Look, I’m sorry about your family. I didn’t kill them though. I was there but I didn’t kill them. I saw you in the basement and I let you escape! I could have let you die, but I let you escape! I’m not a murderer!”

“You were still responsible. What if you hadn’t decided to let me go? Hmm? What if you let some other child go at some other time, would you have let me go? No. because you’re a murderer. You think that if you let one person go, it makes you better. It doesn’t Josef. Just leave me alone. I want to get on with whatever I’m supposed to be doing here. Let me get on with it. I don’t want to talk to you ever again”
