The next day I arrived at the community center just as she did. I had to be sneaky and slick about doing this because the sun was out. I couldn't let anyone see me before I made it safely inside. I pulled around to the back ally where there was a back entrance and creped my way inside undetected while carrying the Wii and the box with the rock band game..
She must have already made it inside because I could smell that fabulous scent of hers and was becoming intoxicated by it. Then, I saw her and all her beauty. She was standing by a desk and was wearing jean shorts that stopped just a little above her mid thigh, a yellow Old Navy t-shirt, and white flip flops. Her hair was pulled back into a pony tail. I hadn't noticed before because she always wore jeans, but she had really nice legs. She was exquisite.
I looked above her head and saw a sign that said “ALL VOLUNTEARS MUST SIGN IN HERE”.
I set down the gaming stuff and walked up behind Bella. I cleared my throat in order to get her attention.
“Edward!” she nearly shouted after she turned around and to see me behind her.
Is she just as excited to be spending time with me, as I am with her?
“Bella, good morning.” I replied with a smile as she stepped aside to allow me to sign myself in for the day.
“Good morning, I see you didn't forget to bring the game.” She said pointing towards the equipment I was carrying.
“You didn't think I'd let you down now did you?” I answered as I finished signing in and turned to face her.
“Of course not, what kind of knight in shining armer would do that?”
I loved that she called me that, and the truth was I pretty much was. There was nothing I wouldn't do for.
“Not a very good one.” I answered.
I was rewarded with her perfect laugh and smile.
We were interrupted by a middle aged woman who was dressed in a business type of skirt and jacket. Her hair was long and blond. She didn't look happy.
“Edward Cullen And Bella Swan I presume?” she asked.
“That would be us,” Bella answered with her smile that would make anyone putty in her hands.
Apparently this woman was an exception to that.
“I'm Megan MacIntosh, I'm in charge of this center and I know why you are both here.” she said flatly.
“I don't approve of what you guys did.” she added.
“But..” Bella went to interrupt, but was cut off.
“I don't care what the excuse you two have for it is. I spend my career trying to teach these kids not to use violence. There will be no fighting at my community center for any reason do you both understand?”
“Yes mam,” we both replied.
I guess she had only gotten a look at Bella and not me, but now she noticed me.
Oh my goodness, what an incredibly sexy teenage boy. She thought.
“G-good.” she said trying to regain her composer, “You two will have the boys and girls group that are all between the ages of ten and twelve.” she continued, “Mrs. Perry, would you please show them to the group that they'll be tending to.”
At lease it's an older group of hooligans, I said in my head.
An old elderly lady came from behind the desk where we had signed in at.
“Sure,” she replied.
Why can't you do it ?, she thought to herself, oh that's right because your having in affair with your fifteen year old sons best friend and thats more important for you to take care of than doing your job. I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to get into this fine young mans pants.
I had to refrain from laughing about what I had just heard.
“Right this way children.” Mrs. Perry said, sweetly.
The lady walked ahead for us to follow her.
“After you,” I replied, allowing Bella to step in front of me, as a true gentlemen would.
Mrs. Perry smiled as us and started to lead the way.
What a nice, polite young man, she thought.
Dear god in heaven, what a nice piece of ass that kid must be, Megan said in her head as she watched us walk away.
Most people would find that creepy, and I did at first. But not everyone can hear what others think of them, truly think of them. Besides by now I was use to it. She was no different from every other woman I'd ever met, except for Bella.
I had no idea what she really thought of me, although I was pretty sure she at lease liked me enough to be friends and if I couldn't have in my life the way I wanted I was more than happy to have her as a friend. I no longer cared weather Jacob liked it or not.
Mrs. Perry lead us to a room and before we even approached it I could hear kids shouting down the hall.
Great, I thought.
“Here we are,” she said as she opened the door and we followed behind her.
There were kids running wild all over the place. They were screaming so loud I couldn't hear their thoughts over the noise they were making. One group was jumping up and down on the table, one boy was shooting staples at other kids, one group of girls were teasing another girl because she had red hair and freckles, she looked as though she was going to cry. I felt so bad for her. There was even a group of kids in a circle with money in the middle rolling dice.
What the fuck, are they gambling?, I thought
“Quite!” Mrs. Perry shouted.
The children stopped dead in their tracks and got quite.
“Now,” she said, “This is Bella and Edward, they will be taking care of you guys today.”
The reaction the girls in the room had to me ranged from “Oh my god he's hot.” to “I would so do him!” I was surprised.
Aren't these girls a little young to be thinking like that?
“Do not give them any problems, if you do they will bring you to the desk and your parents will be called.” Mrs. Perry continued. “Do I make myself clear.”
“Yes mam,” they all said in unison.
“Good.” she replied.
Suddenly a boy who was playing a board game with another boy, got upset, I guess he lost the game, and stood up and shouted.
“I quit!” as he flung the game off the table, pieces flying everywhere, hitting myself, Bella, Mrs.Perry, and a few other kids..
“Tyler,” Mrs. Perry called out, “We do not throw things young man.”
The young boy looked to be one of the younger kids, if I had to guess I'd say ten or eleven. He turned to face Mrs. Perry.
“This bitch ass mother fucker over here tried to cheat!” he yelled.
What he hell, did this kid really just say that?!
“Tyler Murphy,” Mrs. Perry said trying not to lose her cool with him, “What have you been told about that kind of language?”
Tyler gave Mrs. Perry a look as though he didn't care.
“Shut up, bitch you so old you been around since God gave Moses the ten commandments. You could have been Moses ol' lady. Get the fuck out of here with that week ass bull shit.”
Laughter came from the kids, but Bella and I's mouth dropped. I couldn't believe this kid.
“Thats it!” Mrs. Perry shouted, clearly loosing her patience with this kid, “Come here right now, were calling your parents.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” he said in a sarcastic tone as he made his way over to her.
“Good luck,” Mrs. Perry said, walking Tyler from the room while Bella and I stood there in shock.
Once she shut the door behind her we turned our attention to the class.
“Uh..ok guys,” Bella started nervously, “Like Mrs. Perry just told you guys I'm Bella and this is Edward.”
I nodded my head to the kids.
“We're here to talk to you about why you shouldn't use violence.” She added.
The whole room groan.
“I know you guys don't want to hear it, but it wont take long I promise. As you guys can see Edward here has a Wii and the game rock band with him.”
The kids cheered and were definitely intrigued.
“He's going to set everything up for you guys to play”
The room got more excited and shouts of “Yes” filled the room.
“After..” Bella added, “I finish talking to you guys.”
This time it wasn't “yes” that filled the air, but groans of “aww”
“I know I know, but I promise we wont bore you with the same speech I'm sure you guys have heard a thousands times before and it will only take a second. So Edward would you mind getting everything ready?”
“Not a problem.” I replied as I walked over to the TV.
“Now, as I said we won't bore you with a speech. All I'm going to tell you is this, don't use violence, use your words in stead, the end. Got it?”
“Yeah!” they shouted, I let out a giggle.
“Now,” Bella called out to them, “If you would like to play rock band come over here and get in a single file line.”
Most of the kids stampeded to where she had said while only a handful staid seated.
“If you don't want to play, you may do what you like as long as your not fighting or making to much noise, or breaking any rules that you know you shouldn't.”
The rest of the kids got up and found other things to do. Some decided to read a book others decided to take a nap, and a few girls just decided to sit at one of the tables and talk.
“All set,” I said, as I finished setting everything up.
A few of the kids rushed over and took their positions by the instrument they wanted to play. I spotted Bella sitting in a chair in back of the room and walked over to her.
“Nice speech.” I laughed as I pulled up a chair next to her.
“Thanks,” she replied with a smile.
“So, how long did it take you to come up with that?”
“I just thought of it on the spot.”
“Quick thinker, I like it.”
“So, Jacob's going to Port Angles with his buddies today?” I asked.
“Yeah, but he's coming back early and I'm going to meet him at a restraint for dinner and then were going to catch a movie.”
“This is working out much better than I had thought it would.” I said looking at the kids getting along, and behaving.
“I know, I'm surprised.” she answered.
We turned our attention back to the kids playing the game, suddenly a cut little girl with dirty blond hair that hung just above her shoulders, came up to us. If I had to guess her age I would say ten.
“Bella,” she asked.
“Yes sweety?” she replied, I already knew what the little girl was thinking and it took everything in me not to burst into hysterics.
“Do you love Edward?”
Bella turned about fifty shades of red.
“Uhh..why do you think that?” she asked.
“Well, Jenny said that you and Edward are in love.”
Bella laughed a little.
“Well you tell Jenny that there are lots of different kinds of love, and Edward and I only love each other as friends.”
“Ok.” the little girl replied.
Well at lease she loves me in some kind of way, thats better than nothing, I thought.
“Yes.” I answered.
“Do you have a girlfriend?” the little girl asked.
“Yes I do, her name is Tanya and I love her very much.”
“Ok.” she answered as she ran off.
“I told you Edward had a girlfriend Jenny!” she shouted across the room. If I was able to blush I'm sure I would have.
Bella just laughed.
“Kids, ya gotta love um.” she said.
“Yeah, real cute.” I said trying not to be too sarcastic.
“Oh come on you have to admit I kind of was cute.”
“Ok I admit it, it was cute.”
We both laughed and turned are attention back to the kids playing the video game. After about fifteen minutes one of the older boys walked over to us.
“Edward?” he asked.
“Whats up man?”
“We can't get a high enough score on one of these songs, can you help us? We need a singer.” the boy said.
“What song?” I asked.
“The Black Crows Hard To Handel.”
I looked over to Bella to see her wave her hand to signal me to go ahead and do it.
“Why not,” I said happily.
“Sweet!” the boy shouted as I stood up and made my way over to the game system.
The young boy handed me the microphone.
“Ready Edward?” he asked before starting the game.
“Let's do it.”
The music started and I begin to sing.
Baby here I am
Im the man on the scene
I can give you what you want
But you gotta come home with me
I have got some good old lovin
And I got some more in store
When I get through throwin it on you
You gotta come back for more
Boys and things that come by the dozen
That aint nothin but drugstore lovin
Hey little thing let me light your candle
cause mama Im sure hard to handle, now,
Action speaks louder than words
And Im a man of great experience
I know youve got another man
But I can love you better than him
Take my hand dont be afraid
Im gonna prove every word I say
Im advertising love for free
So you can place your ad with me
Boys come along a dime by the dozen
That aint nothing but ten cent lovin
Hey little thing let me light your candle
cause mama Im sure hard to handle, now,
After I finished the song and got them the high score they needed to move on, the kids were jumping up and down and clapping and giving me high fives. I spotted Bella standing in the back of the room next to the chair she was sitting in clapping her hands and smiling. I handed the microphone back to the kids and walked over to Bella who had a waiting high five for me.
“Edward Cullen, I didn't know you could sing.”
She said as we sat back down.
“Well, I'm really into music.” I said, “I play guitar and piano as well.”
“I'm impressed.” she said.
“Edward, can I speak with you for a moment, alone?”a voice called.
I looked up to see it was Megan.
“Uh.. I don't know if I should leave Bella alone with the kids, were kind of a team right now.” I answered.
I didn't want to go with her, I could hear her thoughts and although they were vague it didn't sound to me like she just wanted to talk.
This plan is gone to work, god I can't wait, she thought.
“I'll be alright, I've got them under control here.” Bella replied innocently.
For once I wish someone could read my mind!
“Ok,” I groan as I stood up from my seat and followed Megan out of the room.
“Yes mam?” I asked as we shut the door and entered the hall.
“Maybe we should take this in my office, it would be more...private.” she replied.
Some how I knew this was not going to be good as we walked down the hall.
