Getting to the Lake (without dying)

This kid seriously needed to learn how to climb. We’d been traveling for nearly two days, and most of the way included climbing trees, too bad the boy couldn’t climb. I guess its better then him falling (I was still worried he would) but we could be going so much faster!

I was currently sitting on one of tall branches that connected to another tree. This whole forest was a web, trees were connected to each other.

I looked down to check his progress. Damnit only got a few more branches in. I banged the back of my head against the tree trunk. This would only get worse, if we tried to get to Carlisle’s. The whole way you had to climb over rocks, most of which didn’t have hand or foot wholes. I usually morphed to climb up there.

He finally got to the branch I was sitting on, panting for breath. “How-can-you climb-so” He started to say but he never finished his sentence, apparently he was too out of breath. He needed to get in shape too.

After another minute he spoke, “I need water.” I smirked.

“Where do you think were going?” I asked, thinking about how much I hoped someone was at the lake, usually I didn’t find the wash ups, and I wasn’t looking forward to climbing up to Carlisle's without morphing.

“Really?” he asked looking up at me. I just nodded he looked at me with wide eyes. “What are we waiting for then?” he said jumping up and trying to jump up to the next branch. I watched as he tried to hang onto the branch, then just walked to the other tree trunk the one we were standing on connected to. I jumped to the branch below it and looked at him waiting for him to catch on.

He fell and looked around probably going to ask for help, but he didn’t see me on the branch. He looked around frantic, until he saw me on the branch. “Hey wait up!" he shouted then came running after me, he was actually pretty fast. I walked farther down the branch then jumped up to the next branch. He caught up then groaned. “Not more climbing!”

“Deal with it!” I shouted back down.

I couldn’t wait to see his face when he figured out that the whole way wasn’t just up.

After another two hours of climbing, would have been fifteen minutes if he knew how to climb! We were at the tallest tree in the forest. I waited for him to catch up then walked out onto the middle of the branch. It was actually the lowest one on the tree, I looked down, the nearly one-hundred foot drop and grinned. Edward caught up with me then, and looked down. “What a long drop,” he said. I grinned he couldn’t see the lake at the bottom. It was a twenty-five foot pool, perfectly safe.

“Well,” I said clapping my hands together “You coming?” Then I jumped off the branch.

The Idiot grabbed my waist, then yelled in my ear, “What the hell are you thinking?”

“See the spot of blue at the bottom? That’s where we’re headed, and by the way NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!” I yelled in his face! Does he even realize I could have died! For gods sakes, if I actually fell instead of jumped! I don’t even want to think about it!

“Copy me exactly,” I said still ticked then jumped.
