I was tossed into the large stone arena. The crowds had formed around the edge and were baying for blood. My blood. I now understood how a roman gladiator would feel. Lamia was standing on a large platform.

"Bring in the beasts," she said, flicking her wrist lazily. The wall shifted to reveal a dark corridor. A large shape stirred inside. The creature moved and gradually stumbled out of the hole. It was huge. It had two heads instead of the three I'd expected. Each head looked hungry. I heard a noise behind me and spun around to see another hound, this one with three heads. This was Cerberus. The two-headed one was Orthrus, I assumed. I took a step back so that both beasts could see me, and I fell over. I was lying on my back with my eyes closed.

The crowd jeered at me but I didn't move. I felt hot breath on me and smelt rotting meat. I dared peak out. Orthrus was leaning over me. He was clearly the dumber one. He was going in for the easy kill. His head loomed closer. Just as he was about to snap me up, I leapt up and seized his jaws. Crack. His neck snapped. In a normal creature, it would have killed it but this one was still alive, with his other head. It roared and lashed forward. I was still balanced on its other now dead head. It tried to bite me but I dodged and it bit into its own neck instead. It howled in pain and tossed its head in anger. I jumped off and ran towards Cerberus. Orthrus chased after me. I froze; I was backed up against a wall with two huge beasts surrounding me.

Orthrus went in for the kill but Cerberus snarled at him. It was obvious who was in charge. What I was hoping for was a fight between them. I lashed out at Orthrus. He dodged but it enraged him further and he tried to attack me. Cerberus turned and ripped his brother's head off. Blood spattered the ground. I grinned grimly. Cerberus turned back to me. I crouched and growled. He snarled. I looked deep into his murderous eyes and sought for control. His eyes blazed into my soul. How could I have thought to beat this? I had doomed all of us! I closed my eyes. The great beast swept his paw towards me with ease.

It knocked me across the stadium. I was lying, broken on the floor. Every muscle hurt. For once, I felt...human. I opened my eyes and was aware of a figure approaching.

"You see...you have become too used to being immortal. Nothing lasts forever Jasper" I stood up.

"Do what you want to me! I've had enough of your games and riddles! I just don't care anymore!"

"You would sacrifice your family so easily?" she asked, curious.

"As you said. Nothing lasts. They are merely humans at heart" she smiled.

"Jasper, you are playing with me"

"I am through playing"

"Jasper, what would you say if I told you I could make you human?"

"I'd say you are a wonderful enchantress but that I don't deserve it as a gift" this what she'd wanted all along, me to surrender to her. I was going to give her what she wanted and hope for the best.

"Why did you bring me here?" I asked, "It wasn't to punish me like you said, or you'd have let the others go. You brought me here to get me to join you"

"You see through me" she stepped back and held out her hand.

"Jasper, I have watched over you your entire life and kept you safe so this would play out. Join me, leave the human world forever and be a god" I looked at Alice and Edward. Alice looked like her heart was breaking.

"I will"
