I was sitting by the door, waiting for the time on the clock to change. I had decided to leave at one minute to seven. It wouldn't take long to get there. Tick tock. Tick tock. Tick tock.

"ARRR! I can't take it any more!" I jumped up and ran to my car. I drove off and reached the house. Now the clock becomes the time I wanted! I rang her doorbell.

"Hey! I'll be down in a sec!" she said. The sound of her voice made my breathing speed up. She appeared at the door, clutching a notebook.

"What's with that?"

"I took your suggestion and I worked out the ending"

"Wow, how does it end?"

"I can't tell you that. It would ruin it"

The dinner passed too quickly. I enjoyed it but I didn't enjoy the ten minutes in the alley afterwards when I had to chuck up the food and drink I'd consumed. I walked back round to the front.

"So, you still not going to tell me how it ends?" I asked.

"No chance" we drove to her house.

"Oh, here you go" she gave me the book she'd mentioned before.

"Thanks. I'll read it," I said. This was weird. She smiled, and then gave me a curious look. Like she was weighing me up. I blinked and she was smiles again.

"Enjoy" she waved goodbye and left. I was deeply confused. Bella was leading me in a circle. I loved her but she was being incredibly cryptic. Did I have to prove my love or something? I noticed she'd left her bag on my passenger seat with the notebook inside. I picked it up and flicked through it. I saw one word. Alice. There was a sketch too. Bella and Alice both suspended over a pit by their arms. Hungry dogs bayed for their blood and dark cloaked figures stood around. I was stunned.

"Oh I forgot my bag" I looked up to see her coming towards me. I shoved the notebook in her bag and handed it too her.

"Thanks Jasper. I had a great night" I smiled as I drove off but I couldn't shake that image from my head. Bella, Alice, the pit of fire. The hounds of hell. The cloaked figures...the volturi? Why would they get involved? I reached the house. Alice had gone hunting. So I headed out.

I got back the next morning and hadn't seen any sign of Alice or any of the others. I killed a bit of time by reading that book but I didn't find any signs. So I gave up. I was on my way home when Victoria appeared in front of me.

"Jasper...I'm sorry"

"I set you on this quest. But it will never end! You're going to die Jasper if you carry on. There is no way back from the death that is waiting for you!"

"Go away" I snarled. If she wouldn't give me a straight answer, I wasn't going to listen. I continued back to the house and noticed the answer machine was beeping.

"Jasper! Run! Just run!" I was filled with dread at the sound of Alice's voice that clearly emanated terror. I turned to face Victoria.

"I'm sorry Jasper. But one of three will die today. Their fate hangs in the balance but to find them you must search within you. You can not do this alone"

"What do I do?"

"Search for what is right. At some point, we all must face the choice between what is right, and what is easy"

"I need help," I sobbed without tears. I'd lost Bella once, now I might lose her again. And Alice too!

"You must decide and when the time comes, your life may be the forfeit"

"What does that mean?"

"Someone will die. It doesn't have to be you. But your entire family could be balanced on this"
