To the Cullen Family Residence.

Dear mom and dad and everyone else,

You’re probably worried sick about me but if you’re not I wouldn’t be surprised. If you are, you don’t have to fret any further, where I am is safe and I am happy in my new home. On November 13 I had a baby boy, I named him Dawn and he surpasses amazing. I wanted him to have a new life, a better one, so I came here where I reside now and I find that it is not so bad. I have food and, shelter and money beyond belief and best of all someone loves me. I know the future you had planned for me did not include what I am doing now and it definitely did not include a child but as far as I am concerned this is the best possible outcome I could dream up myself (given the circumstances.) I wish you would know that I miss you and love you. I also wish I could keep in contact but im afraid it is not possible. I wouldn’t want you to find me where im at now- you wouldn’t agree with my lifestyle. For now I will tell you that I am safe and for now I will tell you goodbye.

Goodbye, I love you,

Your Daughter

Jacob’s Point of View

I crumpled the little piece of paper in my hands and a tear rolled solemnly down my cheek.

Someone loves me… It said.

All I can think about are those three words, so different from the other three words she used to tell me. I love you. I wonder aimlessly about in my mind searching for any explanation to this. Felix must have not found her, Felix must have been to late. The old lady at the grocery store never said she left with him. Maybe she knew and took the baby and ran. But where to? I wanted to find her. I needed to find her. I needed to hear it from her, to hear her voice say it. I don’t love you anymore Jacob. This was not closure, this was anything but closure. The letter’s arrival just gave birth to more diseased questions in my mind, infecting me and my sanity like a flesh eating virus. Edward and Bella were of no help to me, they wouldn’t even help me figure out who it came from. It just appeared suddenly on their doorsteps like a ghost. Edward could’ve sworn he smelt her, just for a second but when he opened the door no one was there. An unfamiliar scent was the only thing left, like a kid with no name. I took a big wiff of the paper again inhaling that fiery smell, who was this? Could it be her mate who dropped it off for her? The thought made me tremble and I fought to keep myself under control. Don’t loose it Jacob. You don’t have time to waste, you need to find her.

I was slowly tracking the scent, losing it and picking it up every so often all over the US for christ’s sake! Were they nomads? No, no, no! Nessie said she was wealthy, she had money, why would she tramp it when she had a bunch of bills? I didn’t know how and I didn’t know when but I would find her. Like I said- I needed to.

Nessie’s Point of View

Soon after Felix’s proposal, Marcus announced some very startling news that shocked us all. Since the time I had presented Dawn to the Volturi, Marcus and I had bonded in a way that no other two in the Volturi had- he was like a father to me except he was more then my father was…at least Marcus was upfront and honest about the things in this world. A week after Felix and I announced our engagement Marcus informed the whole coven that he was soon leaving… no one would’ve guessed his next action.

“To replace me when I am gone is the one and only Felix. With his brute strength and intelligence we have decided that he was best choice to fill in for me while I’m gone. This may come as a surprise to most of you but seeing his recent changes in the last month has convinced us that it is the right thing to do.” He ended and sat down in his throne to give way to Aro.

“Well put brother! Exquisite speech!” Aro was practically licking his balls for attention. I smiled as the whole guard clapped and whistled for my fiancé. I was so proud of him that I ran right up to him and embraced him in a very passionate kiss. He pulled away and smiled at me, kissing my cheeks and hugging me tight. I was going to be a Volturi wife. Felix was becoming one of the supreme rulers of our kind! The only sad part about it was my dear old Marcus was leaving. I found my way to Marcus huddled in discussion with another group of vampires, when he saw me he waved all of them away.

“Vanessa, love! What do you think about my news?” He looked into my eyes deep with concern.

“I’m a little sad Marcus. Where will you be going? How will I ever survive this mad house with out you?” He took me in his arms, offering his fatherly affection.

“Oh Nessie, im afraid I must leave you now, but only for a short while.”

“You and I have two very different perspectives on what is short in time. You’ve lived longer then me, therefore time doesn’t seem so relevant to you.” He laughed and kissed me softly on my forehead.

“Well Vanessa, you have Felix now and I am all too sure that he will take splendid care of you. You’ve made a real difference here Ness, not just in Felix but in me also. I might want to start a little family of my own now, fall in love with a human damsel in distress and create a child just like you.” My face was a twisted in an expression of surprise and honor. Did he really mean that?

“Oh Marcus! Sometimes you shock me with your warmth and human like feelings!” We laughed and he shrugged his shoulders.

“I don’t know my daughter but with you here I feel almost alive again.” He hugged me once more before Felix arrived at my side.

“I see that you’ve become acquainted with the love of my life here.” He joked feeling he empty air around me with his scent. Felix took Marcus’ hand and kissed it but Marcus pulled him forward into a hug.

“Felix, im so terribly proud of what you’ve become. I don’t know how to thank this beautiful women for changing your savage ways.” Felix looked down at me and smiled wide and toothy.

“Me either Marcus, me either. I am grateful for this honor you have given me also. It seems as though I have a lot on my hands now, with this, a wife and a family of my own. I will praise great tribute to your name.” Marcus patted Felix on the back before exiting the room. I was going to miss that wrinkly old man, I was really going to miss him.

The rest of the summer was spent planning my wedding, which Jane had almost physically forced me into. She insisted that I was highly involved in the planning and that I over looked every detail of the ceremony and reception. Hundreds of vampires, new and old, would be in Volterra that day but the only ones I wanted to be there could not come- my family. Some vampires were friends of Felix and some were just spectators coming to witness the miracle of Dawn. He was a legend, and a powerful one at that. With the help of Jane he began to understand his power better and hold onto the powers he absorbed longer. Before I knew it he could always send me thoughts and being around Jane so much had permanently embedded her power into him, Alec and Demitri had both successfully rubbed off on him and he wasn’t only strong in mind but also physically capable of killing. Being more vampire then I am he matures twice as fast as I did. By a year he appeared to be eight. He was a strong boy and Felix and I were swollen with pride every time he glided gracefully into the room. Girls noticed him and he was the object of every Volturi member’s affection. He wanted to be called ‘just D’ and shared similar interest with his uncle Demitri, fast cars and freedom. The things he most inherited from his father was 1) his amazing smile and 2) his intelligence, the things he inherited from me was 1) his charming attitude and 2) his good looks. Dawn was my son and seemed to be growing up faster then me.
