A Respected Life

"Well, Aro, I believe they have although I am not quite sure yet." I claimed to Aro. I hoped I did have a good power and not something foolish and useless. I felt useless enough as a human and I didn't need that felling for the rest of eternity.

"Well that's okay sweetheart. Eleazer says he has some theories and he also checked your background. You come from a long bloodline of vampire's and they all had important powers giving you the strength ten times more of each vampire. Now, Eleazer, come tell me your theories." Eleazer bolted to Aro's side in a second and had a hand on his shoulder transferring the theories to him through thought which was easier than talking out loud. I was watching carefully to see Aro's emotionless face and then it changed to shock. How bad was it?

"Well Bella, you are much more powerful than we thought. You, my dear, are and essence. The only one that has ever come to be." All the leaders gasped as well as Carlisle. I looked at them. A what?

"I'm sorry sir, but what is an essence? I don't quite grasp the situation." Aro was smiling and shook his head.

"Well, an essence was said to be- in one of the oldest books known to man- the most powerful vampire, as you know. There was said to be only one to be transformed. He or she would be destined to the vampire life and you were the lucky one. I'm guessing you are wondering what and essence can do. The powers are extreme. You are the only vampire to have more than one power. You can hear thoughts, control minds, quadruple the powers and strengths of other vampires; you can feel and control emotions as well as see visions. You are quite like a Cullen package. There are some extras, you can heal and bring to life all creatures including vampires, you can make illusions and millions of yourself and you can go invisible. You are as, you know, the strongest, prettiest and most talented as well." Aro paused to let me take this all in. I didn't say anything so he went on.

"This leads me to this question my dear. Would you like to join the Volturi family?" I heard gasps from the other leaders and Marcus put his hand on Aro. "No, Marcus, she wouldn't take any of your places. I've decided there is one open spot. This would be Queen of the Volturi." The others looked at Aro in disbelief. Aro smiled at me.

"You would be able to go anywhere you would like to but you would have to stay in contact with us and come when we needed you." I nodded, "I would be honoured Aro. Thank you for this privilege." He was looking very pleased. Carlisle looked at me like he was happy but surprised. I smiled and asked if I could leave now. They all nodded. I left the room only to be stopped by a firm hand. Well actually two firm hands. I turned around to see Carlisle and Eleazer.

"Bella, can we talk to you about something?" Carlisle asked.

"Yes." They led me to my room and told me to sit down and not get mad at them when they told me what they had figured out.

"Bella, your love for Demetri is not real. You realize that right?" Carlisle looked worried. Why would I be mad at that? I had a strange felling I didn't really love him. That I had only loved him to have someone to hug and be comforted by.

"I realize that. I don't feel like the love is real. Like it was almost forced. Why? Why would that upset me?" I answered back to him.
