“So you think,” Carlisle said in my ear. And for the first time since I had become a vampire, I had someone to live for. I was happy.

After I pulled away, the others moved from their recent positions and approached me. The one with the caramel colored hair came up to me first.

“Hello, my name is Esme. I’m Carlisle’s wife,” she said shaking my hand, though her tone was slightly anxious. And was it just me or did I hear a little extra emphasis on the word ‘wife.’ That thought had a small smile spreading across my face.

It’s nice to meet you, especially considering that you are my sister-in-law,” I told her, putting a very small emphasis on the word ‘sister.’ Esme smiled a little before walking to Carlisle’s side and holding his hand. The bigger dark-haired vampire came up to me next . His features looked slightly menacing, but that was all washed away when he smiled. I could tell that he was a easy-going person.

“Hey, I’m Emmett. It’s nice to meet you, Auntie,” he said in his deep bass voice, with a big grin on his face, as he shook my hand. I raised my eyebrows questioningly.

“Aunt?” I asked, wondering what he meant by that. Emmett chuckled before he spoke again.

“Well, we’re Carlisle’s ‘foster children’,” Emmett said putting not only extra emphasis but air quotes around those words. I laughed lightly.

“Ah,” I said understanding. “It’s nice to meet you.” Next, the beautiful blonde introduced herself.

“Hello, I’m Rosalie,” she said, shaking my hand as well. I nodded to her, before turning to the the taller, honey-blonde vampire, the one that can change emotions.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, I’m Jasper,” he told me, speaking in the southern accent, while shaking my hand firmly. I smiled at him, as the pixie-like one with the short black hair danced up to me practically bouncing up and down in excitement.

“Hiimaliceitsgreattomeetyouohmygoshwearegoingtohavesomuch…,” she started and her words came out so fast I couldn’t even catch it all.

“Uh, slow down, I may be a vampire, but I didn’t even catch that all,” I interrupted, my eyes growing a little wider.

“Sorry, this is just so exciting, let me start over. I’m Alice and its going to be SO much fun to have you around and I just think that it’s so totally cool that we have like opposite powers, and all,” Alice said in her overly perky voice, speaking slow enough so that I could actually catch it all this time.

“ Well, hi, it’s nice to meet you too,” I said, with a little laugh as she came up and gave me a hug.

Which surprised me quite a lot, my eyes widened even more in response, causing several laughs to sound from around me. After Alice pulled away she started questioning me.

“So, how exactly does your power work?” Alice asked me curiously. I sighed softly.

“Well, it isn’t a contact thing, when I’m within a close distance with a person, I can see their pasts and everything about them but usually I try to block it out because I feel rude intruding on people’s memories, because I feel like I’m learning more then they would ever want me to know. The one thing I cannot do is see a human’s past, but I’ve never been able to,” I shared with her, clearing letting them all know I wasn’t about to go spying on them all.

“Ok, that’s so thoughtful, I don’t really have a choice. What I mean by that is that it’s almost impossible for me to block a vision or stop one from coming,” Alice explained to me, expressively.

“Where do you live?” Carlisle asked me.

“Oh, it’s actually probably not that far from here,” I said realizing how far Carlisle’s house was as well.

“Can you stay by us tonight?” Alice asked hopefully.

“Sure,” I said. “ I don’t have any plans or anything.”

Then, I heard noise over by the staircase, I turned my gaze as I saw Edward walking down the stairs with a human that was probably around seventeen and had waist length brown hair, whom I assumed was Bella.

I smiled in their direction and Edward tensed a little, jeesh. I moved towards them with Alice ignoring Edward’s icy glare. Bella watched me approach curiously and she didn’t seem the least bit afraid.

“Hello, you must be Bella. I’m Katherine, you can call me Kate,” I said softly offering my hand to her. She shook my hand gently.

“Hi, I would’ve come down to meet you earlier but Edward wouldn’t let me,” Bella said turning her gaze to roll her eyes at Edward. I laughed as did Bella.

“Overprotective is he?” I asked her,

Bella smiled and said, “Yeah, quite a bit.”

I opened my mouth to comment when suddenly Alice gasped from my side along with Edward and I had only one guess of what had now just happened, Alice had a vision.
