“Well, Tanya and her family are coming to visit tomorrow,” Carlisle admitted. One thought alone entered my mind. Oh, swell.

“She’s coming here?” I ask. I doubt Kate will ever acknowledge me with anything besides hate. I look to Carlisle hoping that for one time in his existence that he’s not being honest with me.

At that thought, I could hear Edward’s faint amusement despite the tense moment. Carlisle reached slowly into the pocket of his black dress pants and started to pull out his cellphone.

“I guess we could cancel the visit if it would be easier,” Carlisle suggested, running a hand through his hair. It’s a good thing that vampires can’t go bald, I thought causing Edward to snicker. I quickly turned to glare at him. I turned my gaze to Carlisle.

“No, that’s not necessary, Carlisle, I… I can leave while they visit or something,” I say, “there’s no reason for you to cancel your plans. They are your friends after all.”

“Are you sure..,” Carlisle started. Then Alice spoke up.

“Katherine, don’t be ridiculous. We can go visit them instead,” she recommended, setting a small hand lightly on my shoulder.

“True, it has been awhile since we’ve been up to Denali to visit them,” Esme says, “they should understand.” Her input more to reassure her husband, than me, I’m sure.

“Even though I love a good cat fight…,” Emmett trailed.

“Emmett!” practically everyone around me shouted.

“What? I’m just saying,” he said, acting offended.

“Emmett, you’re always just saying,” Jasper jokes, though I’m sure it’s probably the case.

“Yeah, tell me about it,” Bella grumbles, speaking up. And from her tone it’s not hard to guess that she’s usually the center of Emmett’s jokes.

“You have no idea,” Edward mutters, throwing a glare towards his brother.

“Seriously, do you mind not commenting on every thought that goes through my head?” I ask, angrily.

“It’s harder when it’s a person I haven’t been around as long,” Edward states, trying to defend himself.

“Oh yeah, it must be SO difficult,” Rosalie hisses and Bella is the only one who doesn’t seem even slightly annoyed by this.

“I can’t read her thoughts,” Edward explains. I push down my annoyance at him talking to my thoughts and say,

“Are you serious, that’s GREAT,” as I start laughing. “Trust me Bella be very grateful.”

“I am,” Bella says with a smile. Then she glances at the clock. “I should probably leave now.”

“Yes, Charlie will get worried… again,” Edward sighs.

“It was a pleasure to meet you, Bella,” I say.

“You, too,” Bella says as they walk out the door.

“Hey Katherine, wanna go out for a late night snack?” Emmett asks. I laugh as he rubs his stomach.

“Sure, but first I would like to go change,” I tell him.

“You coming, Jazz?” Emmett asks Jasper, smacking him on the back. They sure act like a family. A dysfunctional one maybe, but a family.

“Sure,” Jasper replies, as we head out the door. I walk to my black Audi, with them trailing behind fighting about who gets to ride shotgun.

“How about you play rock, paper, scissors?” I suggest, leaning against the drivers side door.

“Good idea,” Emmett says, turning to Jasper fist on palm.

“Rock..paper…scissors…SHOOT…,” they chant. Emmett chose rock and Jasper chose paper. I laugh as Jasper smacks his hand on top of Emmett’s fist.

“How come you always win?” I hear Emmett complain as Jasper and I climb in the front seats.

“Because you always choose rock,” Jasper chuckles, as Emmett gets in the backseat his knees bent awkwardly because of the lack of space. I laugh again. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed or smiled so much in one night in my whole existence. I block out Emmett and Jasper’s voices complaining and fighting as I throw my car in reverse and take the turns of the drive backwards.

When we reach my house, I go to my room to change while Emmett and Jasper make themselves at home in my small livingroom. I quickly throw on my comfiest jeans, a tank top and a hooded sweater. I swipe my hair back in a ponytail and walk into my livingroom.

Jasper and Emmett look my over, look at each other, then burst out laughing.

“What?” I ask putting on some tennis shoes.

“Alice is going to torture you,” Emmett laughs. I raise my eyebrows.

“What he means is that if Alice could see your outfit right now, she would throw you in the car and give a complete makeover,” Jasper says, his eyes sparkling as he talks about Alice.

“And if that’s what your casual attire usually consists of then she definitely will,” Emmett continues. I just sigh, knowing it will probably happen very soon.

“Let’s go,” Emmett says excitedly, pulling me and Jasper out the door behind him. This should be interesting.
