14. I'm Really Getting Tired of Surprises

Rating 5/5   Word Count 734   Review this Chapter

A few weeks flew by. I still couldn't believe Jake was my husband.

I woke up smelling bacon. I walked happily downstairs. I saw Jake next to the stove making pancakes and bacon.

He put a plate in front of me, and I felt like I could eat an elephant.

"Wow Jake! I didn't know you could cook!" Everything was delicious. I had been scared I would have to make all the meals. One can not live on macaroni and cheese cheese, ya know?

"Your father helped out. He sort of recorded tons of cooking shows and said, 'Have fun.'" I laughed at the thought. He must've known Jake would not like the same thing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

"Bobby Flay was my favorite out of all of the cooks, though. Although Rachel Ray was pretty cute, but not as cute as you," he said with my favorite smile. I have a perfect husband.

We went upstairs after we ate everything. I think I might've ate more than Jake.

"Thanks for breakfast," I leaned in to give him a kiss. But my stomach turned and I ran to the bathroom. Jake followed, and he held up my hair as I emptied my stomach's contents into the toilet.

"That's what I get for eating 20 pancakes," I stood up to brush my teeth.

He leaned in to give me a kiss, but the same feeling came back. Luckily, we were still in the bathroom, so I didn't have to run.

I repeated the same process of brushing my teeth after I was done. I had told Jake to wait in our bedroom, and I would come get him if I needed anything. I was now going through the small cabinet under the sink filled with medicine and other stuff with a small hope that there would be some Pepto. While I was looking, I knocked everything out. "Way to be a klutz like your mom when you are puking your guts out," I thought to myself. I started putting everything away neatly. Before I came across any Pepto, I found a little box that I didn't realize was in there. I knew I had a calendar in the cabinet, now I needed to find it. I flipped through my calendar after I found it under a pile of everything I hadn't gotten around to putting away yet. I started counting, once, twice, and that continued a few more times. Tears were starting to pour down my face as I realized the problem.

"Nessie? Sweetheart, what's wrong?" Jake came up behind me and turned me facing him. I could tell he was starting to get worried, and then a little nudge from my stomach answered our silent questions.

Now even more tears were streaming down my face. Jake was the only one remotely calm. The next six words I expected out of him,"We need to go see Carlisle."

Jake picked me up bridal style and started to walk out the house. I didn't protest because the warmth of his body felt wonderful against mine.

We reached the main house in about ten minutes. My parents were very happy to see us since we haven't seen them since the wedding. But they saw my red, puffy eyes and knew something was wrong.

I had blocked my thoughts, and Jake must have too, because they were waiting for an explanation. New tears spilled out as I whispered,"I'm pregnant."

My mom hugged me and smiled. I was happy, too, it's just it's not everyday a six year old has a baby.

My dad, surprisingly, looked happy too. Until my parents looked into each other's eyes. Then they started to look concerned. I was confused at first, then the painful memory came back. I had almost killed my mother. What if my baby did the same?

"Ness, lets go see Carlisle," Jake whispered. Jake and I started to slowly walk up the stairs to Grandpa's office. My mom had started to come with us, but my dad had stopped her,"They will tell us any new when they come back down."

And with that, I knocked on Grandpa's door, anxious for the outcome.
