Crash

As I burned I slip into unconsciousness as the fire consumed me. The burn of acid to my heart was unbearable but I couldn't find my voice. I was consumed and nothing would stop it. Was I in hell? It sure felt like it but no god would put someone in this much pain no matter what. Not even a serial killer deserved this pain.

I felt ice wash over me periodically but the pain overrode the ice and burned me. If I were still alive I would be a pile of ash.

I heard voices over me and tried to listen. I couldn't though. The pain screamed in my ears. The fire was roaring inside my ears. Yelling at me for some reason, my cheeks burned and so did my palms. It felt like I was holding onto orbs of fire in me.

Edward's POV

Bella would be a new vampire addition to this family. She would be damned for eternity. This would make us have to move. Rosalie would be mad; Emmett may or may not be mad. He was always so weird. Alice would be a little upset for how she was consumed into this life and Jasper would feel guilty for biting her. I was just worried. Would she love me? Or would she possibly hate me? It would be understandable. I don't even know if I liked her. I knew I had a strong feeling for her but I don't know what it is.

"Edward, don't blame yourself. I saw it happen. It would have happened one way or another. It's not yours or Jasper's fault." Alice told me. I saw the honesty in her eyes. I could believe her. But I felt worried. Maybe I did love Bella.

"I know, but I feel responsible." I told her. She shook her head and was swept into a vision.

Bella held my hand as we ran through the woods. We got to my favorite meadow and laid down. She rested her head on my chest and I stroked her hair. I lifted her chin and kissed her. I was looking deeply into her blood red eyes. They had happiness imbedded in them. She smiled and I snaked my arm around her curvy body. I lifted her up and we shared a more passionate kiss.

The vision faded and Alice looked up at me. She was beaming a smile at me. Her eyes full of cheer.

"Do you know when it will happen? When she'll forgive me?" I asked Alice in a rush. She smiled again and chuckled.

"Wow, for a vampire, you are unobservant. Did you see her eyes? You guys had just finished your first hunt. She'll forgive you either when she awakens or on the hunt. See, you have nothing to worry about." Alice said to me.

"Do you know when she'll awaken?" I asked her in an eager tone. She looked up at me and shook her head.

"No, but Carlisle will be at the school in about a minute to pick us up and help Bella. You will have to explain to him what happened. We will have twenty minutes until the rest of the kids come out of class so we can set it up and pack without anyone expecting anything." Alice told me. I nodded.

Alice and I turned when we heard a car approach. It was Carlisle's Mercedes. He had a panicked look on his face. He also looked calm. He stepped out of the car and came over a vampire speed. He knelt down beside Bella and looked at me. He was worried that she was more than hurt because she wasn't screaming according to his thoughts. I was also worried. The pain was terrible. She wasn't even moving but her heart beat was fast.

"Edward, will you please tell me the story?" Carlisle asked me. He took Bella into the Mercedes and Alice headed toward the Volvo. She drove off and I stepped into the passenger seat swiftly. Carlisle began to drive away before I started telling him the story.

"Apparently, from the teacher's thoughts, she was sick so she was sent home. Rosalie and Emmett had already headed home because of the sun and Alice, Jasper and I were on our way to the car. We heard a screech and noticed a blue van coming. Bella, the girl, was in the path of it. Before any of us could do anything, the van crushed her. The blood pooled out. I was about to go after her because of the smell. It was so delicious and smelt like freesia..." I trailed off thinking about the smell but Carlisle looked at me.

"Focus, Edward." He told me in a stern voice. He wanted to get my mind off of the smell. It worked too because of his tone.

"Well, anyway, like I was saying, Jasper leapt before I could and tackled her and bit down. I rushed in with Alice and we pulled off. Bella's eyes were still open when I got to her. I was about to bite her from the delicious aroma but when I looked at her I stopped. I don't know why but I just did. That's when Alice called you and Bella's been silent ever since. She hasn't moved but her heart rate is very fast. I asked Alice if Bella would ever forgive me and she told me yes." I told him. I kept out the part about us kissing and cuddling. It is not the thing you should say to your adoptive father.

Carlisle looked at me. He smiled at me and I saw a lot of joy in his eyes. I looked at him in a confused way. He chuckled lightly. He looked as if he got the surprise party he had wanted his entire life. He looked surprised but overjoyed as well.

"Oh, my son, I am so proud. You have found your true love. You are in love, with Bella. You didn't kill her because the monster inside of you was over powered by true love. It is a strong emotion that changes the course of destiny. We all have a monster inside of us and its only weakness is love." Carlisle said to me. So I was in love. That would explain the feelings. We pulled into the driveway and Alice sped to the door. Before I could even step out of the door, Alice was at Bella's door and opened it. She lifted Bella up gently and pulled her into the house. Carlisle and I followed her and we noticed Rosalie standing there with sadness in her eyes. I read her eyes.

Not another one. How many people, women especially, are going to be taken into a soulless world where they can't have children? She thought.

I noticed, on Bella's arms, were old bruises. They were definitely not from the accident and on her ribs was an imprint of a wedding ring. Was she abused? She also had a hand shaped bruise on her wrist. She was abused. But by who was the question.

Rosalie seemed to notice these markings and rushed to her side. She murmured words that I wasn't able to understand but it sounded like she was saying ‘I understand'.

Hopefully Bella would remember who put those on her. Then I could harm that person. He or she deserved it. Though I was positive that it was a male because the ring shape was a man's wedding band, the hand print and the other bruises were also too large for any women. I would figure this out one way or another and according to Rosalie's thoughts, so was she.
